A heavy silence fell upon them, both engaged in a staring battle of wills. Who was going to say something first, who was going to look away first. For weeks, he couldn't take her from his mind, and now she was there in front of him. He was observing her attentively and for the first time he saw her vulnerable. She was pale, even the makeup couldn’t hide the dark circles underneath her eyes, she tried to disguise her trembling hiding her hands, but Justin saw them. She has always been beautiful and now she seemed even more.

Justin brought his hand to his face astonished. He didn’t expect that reaction from her. It took him a few minutes to compose himself again. “Ok, I deserved that.” he turned her face to him gently. “What happened, Ella?” calling her to him by her name.

Upstairs, Justin was under the shower drowning himself in guilt. Ella’s panic-stricken face floated in his mind every time he closed his eyes. Was he truly the cold-hearted monster she accused him of? He came from a traditional family with loving parents and a pesky old brother, and a totally normal childhood.
