I turned around in the bed, gradually opening my eyes. I felt a headache coming on, but it wasn't something I was going to worry too much about. I took in a deep breath, taking in the infamous smell of the hospital, you know, how hospitals smell. I hated the smell but got used to it eventually, due to my frequent visits to the hospital, being pregnant and all. I glanced at my watch, it was 2:50p.m. I had to get back home. I didn't want to stay here any longer. I needed to be somewhere safe and comfortable right now - if that house could be called safe. Was I safe there anymore? What if Adam got released and returned to meet me in the house? What would he do to me? Maybe it's time I got a new apartment for myself. I hadn't decided on the new apartment thought but I knew I had to consider it. But what would that mean? Finding a house wasn't easy. Finding a new apartment to live in without having so many people to pack for you while you are pregnant was hell. I struggled to find a house before the day ended and some teenagers to help me pack all my things from Adam's house inside the truck that was going to take them to my new apartment. After three hours of driving in the huge, dirty truck, I finally got to my apartment. I alighted the truck with help from the old driver, and he offered to help me carry my things inside the house. I couldn't decline because I didn't have a choice. There was no way I could do it all myself, considering I was pregnant and all. The house was a small, red bungalow with a tiny chimney at the top. The roof was brown, and had wavy lines drawn from one end of the roof to the other. "Emily I...wait, what are you doing here?" Adam drew back from me, examining me like I'd just hopped out of a car involved in a fatal accident. What was I to tell him? That I needed to refresh my life and I decided to cut him and Adam off of my life? No, I wasn't going to tell him that. "I...I uh, got a new apartment, as...as you can see." You didn't call me for hours after you said you would and I've been worried and I've tried to call you countless times over and over again but it kept saying switched off and I've just been trying and I've been worried about you and I just didn't know where...." "Stop crying, Emily." Daniel soothed. Removing his hands from his lap, he moved it over my head, placing it on my shoulder. He pulled me closer to him, letting me cry on his chest as he smoothed my hair. I felt terrible. I felt like I'd actually been the cause of my problems all this while. I felt like I could have done something to stop all that happened but I didn't. "I'm not saying you're a bad person for staying with him all this while," Daniel said, as though he was reading my thoughts, and from the way he said it, I had a strong feeling he was. "I'm only saying that you should have thought hard and well before getting married to him. Now this has happened in less than three days and you've moved. My goodness, Daniel totally broke the lamp. Daniel turned to look at me slowly, and gave me a nervous chuckle, "uh, it's probably still uh..." "O...Kay. So uh, when are we going? Where are we even going?" I asked. "There's one mall down the street, it's not far from here. We'll go tomorrow in my car, is that fine with you?" He asked me, standing up from the bed. "Uh, yeah. Yeah, it's fine." I said. Going somewhere with Daniel in his sleek car wasn't something I ever planned on doing but, hey, I can't even plan my own life anymore. I tried to move away from him and Adam and here I am, in the same room with him, and his house is just a few meters from mine. What if Adam found out? "Hey, I should go help that old man. He looks kind of weak, wouldn't want him doing everything for us." Daniel said and headed out the door. 'Us.' I liked the sound of that. "He doesn't like being called weak though," I told Daniel as he walked out of the room. I didn't think he heard me though.&

"She lives here now. Could you go outside for a bit, I'll see you - " "Hey...Emily," Daniel's girlfriend beamed at me, taking a sit on the couch closest to the door. She crossed her legs and rested her chin on her fists. She stared at me. "Uh, hi. You're Ashley, I guess." I said to her. Daniel looked a bit uneasy. I didn't understand why. "Yeah, and you're Emily. You just got married some days back, didn't you?" She asked, making my smile freeze on my face as I tried to chuckle it off. Of course she just had to mention my wedding. I didn't feel like talking about it so I nodded yes to her. "Ah, I see. And your husband, how's he faring?" She asked. Shit. Daniel immediately rose from his seat. "Uh, Ashley we need to go now. Thanks, Emily, I'll come back later."  Ashley frowned. "You didn't even let us finish our chitchat." She whined,

I turned over in bed and let out a small groan. I rubbed my face, shifting my legs from their original position, expecting to meet another set of hard, hairy legs but my feet connected with the wall instead.  Where did Adam... Oh. I sighed as my brain replayed the events of yesterday to me. I was alone. Alone in bed. Alone in the house. But not alone in the neighborhood like I used to feel in Adam's house. Daniel was just next door, I could see him any time I wanted. Opening my eyes, I put my hand over my lips as a yawn escaped my mouth. I looked around the room. I felt so alone. Nobody was in bed with me, or in the room with me. I could do whatever I wanted. Great. I lifted the large, fluffy duvet off of my body as I placed my feet on the cold wooden floor. I sighed again, getting up from the bed. I felt strong, different. I'd never slept like that befo

My cheeks turned pink and I felt the heat spread around my face. Adam called me beautiful. How could he think I was beautiful when I was pregnant and had all these wrinkles on my face?  Man, I really needed to fix my wrinkle insecurities. Daniel inserted the key into the keyhole, next to the black steering wheel and started the car, keeping one hand on the steering wheel. He beckoned on me to use my seatbelt which I tried to, but was having problems due to my huge stomach. He smiled at me and turned to help me. My cheeks reddened yet again as his fingertips made contact with my bare arms. I didn't understand why I reacted this way to his touch. I heard a click and looked down and saw that he had secured the seatbelt in its hole...or whatever they call those things you put the seatbelt stuff in. He returned to his seat and put the gear to D, which I figured to mean drive since I never drove. Adam refused to teach me
