第二章

Sienna's P.O.V

5 hours… I’ve been down in this basement, lying motionless, for 5 hours… please… Just kill me… I can’t take it much longer…

As a lay on the floor, too weak to move. My mother had left me there a few hours ago, agonizing in my own pain.

“You better pray no one come knocking at our door for this, useless ugly trash!”

She kicked me one last time in the stomach before leaving me to cry out my pain. Alone.

Finally getting a little strength, I try to get up and move. My head is pounding. Both my arms are bleeding from the laches she did with her favorite silver blade… I’m pretty sure my left wrist is broken, so is my nose and a couple of ribs.

I have to try and get to my room. I need to put something on these cuts before they get infected. If I leave them like that, they’ll bleed and might make a mess, and if so, I’ll get beat again. My body can’t take another beating…not today…

Ever since I was old enough to go to the store by myself, I always keep a first aid kit under my bed. I use it pretty much every other day now.

I look at myself in the mirrors. I’m so shocked to see myself. I look like shit!

WOW…. She really didn’t miss my stomach and ribs…there already turning black and purple.  My nose is a little swollen, but not too bad so far. At least she didn’t scratch my face again or re-open the one I already had from yesterday.

It's already 9 pm by the time I’m done cleaning and bandaging myself up. I haven’t eaten anything since I left for school this morning. I’m hurting too much to get myself something to eat. Not that I’m actually hungry. I never eat much anyway. She doesn’t really let me, so, it doesn’t change much.

“What a nightmare today was,” I tell myself, lying carefully on my bed. I wince at every move I make, trying to get comfortable.

To think I’ll still have to go to school tomorrow… My hoody will at least cover my bandages. I’ll try to better cover the bruises on my face with a little more concealer and foundation. I hope it works.

What am I going to do about Lucas?

What am I thinking?! After what he saw today, how I ran away from him. He must be disappointed and ashamed that I’m his mate. How could he not be?

I’m ugly…. useless …trash… I’m not worth his time… nor his love… My mother is right…  He'll reject me for sure!

I lay down under my covers and silently cry myself to sleep.

Lucas’s P.O.V

“Everything’s been taking care of Lucas"

“Thank you, Mike, appreciate it…”

I feel a little lost, and don’t know what to do with myself. I sit down on the park bench and sight.

“Where’s Sienna? Is she ok?”

“She left Am's… She didn’t want to talk to me….”

I hang my head low, feeling the sadness in my heart swallowing me. My mate doesn’t want me. My wolf is really upset that I let her go. So am I, but I also think there’s something more important going on with her, and I felt I had to let her leave. Even though it broke my heart to do.

Amy seems confused.

“Why? Is she coming back later?”

As I don’t reply, she gasps and almost screams at me.

“OMG!!!! She didn’t reject you, did she?!”

“No… She didn’t… “

“PLEASE TELL ME YOU DID NOT REJECT HER!?” She screams at me!

“No!... I didn’t... and I wouldn’t! “

Amy let out a sigh of relief.

“You scared me there for a second!  Tell me what happened?”

“But…She was afraid of me. Actually, she looked terrified. I just wanted to push some stay hair out of her beautiful face to see her eye. Her gorgeous green eyes. I’ve never seen eyes like hers, but she flinched. It almost looked like she taught I was going to hit her or something. What could possibly have happened to her to be this scared of being touched? Of finding here mate? Is it because it’s me? Is she scared of being the future Luna of our Black-Crescent Pack?”

“I don’t know, but now that I think about it, it’s not the first time I see her bruised…”

I snap my head up.

“What?! What do you mean !? You think something might have happened before?!”

“I don’t know for sure, but I’ve seen her with bandages before”

My mate… My beautiful, gorgeous green-eyed mate… What has happened to you? I need to know. I have to figure it out! I have to protect her from whatever or whoever’s hurting her!

“Mike, find me everything you can about her, where she lives, her family, everything!”

“I'm on it! And don’t worry, I’ll be discreet. I have a feeling this should be done quietly.”

I smile looking at my best friend.

“Thanks, Mike. I can always count on you.”

“What am I? Chopped liver?”

Turning to Amy, I laugh out loud and kiss her cheek.

“No, you’re not. You’re my best girl-friend, you know that!”

I hear a low growl behind me.

“Hands off Lucas, she’s mine! You might be my future Alpha, but I’ll still kick your ass if you ever kiss her again”

“Relax, she’s more of a little sister to me and you know it. But I get you… Now I really get you…”

Thinking about Sienna, my heart clenches again. Will I ever get to kiss her like this?

“It’ll be fine Lucas. We'll help you out with this.”

I can always count on my two best friends in any situation. What would I do sometimes without them I wonder?!
