Chapter 5 What Are You Going To Do?

Auteur: Little Nightlight
Daphne stayed very still, refusing to move. Nicholas lifted his gaze and stared at her again. This time, he spoke in an impatient voice. “A warning, I don’t like ignorant women!”

‘This girl isn’t that young, but she’s still acting like a kid. Forget it. I’ll let her off the hook. Just this once!’

Locked in this place, Daphne could see nothing else but the man in front of her.

Daphne weighed the consequences of continuing her stance. She bit her lips and walked toward him.

At this point, opposing Nicholas was equivalent to inviting disaster.

Daphne chose the furthest spot away from Nicholas on the couch and sat down. She stared at Nicholas warily and asked, “What did you want to discuss?”

‘This is just too weird!’

Daphne was under the impression that her one and only contact with Nicholas would have been last night. She never expected to be kidnapped all the way here, and she didn’t even know why!

Daphne wasn’t wearing her glasses, so she was staring at Nicholas blurrily through her limpid eyes. Nicholas was reminded of a few enchanting scenes from last night, thanks to her pure and innocent gaze.

“I’d like to discuss your compensation,” Nicholas replied.

‘Compensation?’

“What compensation?” Daphne frowned suspiciously.

“The compensation for my phone!” Nicholas waved the receiver around as he eyed Daphne gloomily. Then, he added with a faint smile, “Setting aside the fact that you’ve used my phone without my permission, you’ve dropped it and damaged it to boot! You’re going to have to compensate me!”

‘I’ve damaged the phone?’

Daphne was in shock. She lowered her head in thought. She vaguely remembered the receiver slipping through her fingers just now.

‘Was it damaged?’

Daphne looked at Nicholas. “If I’ve damaged it, I’ll pay you back!”

“Hmph, big talk. Aren’t you going to ask how much it costs?” Nicholas stared at Daphne with a forced smile.

Daphne was beginning to have a bad feeling about this. She gulped and forced her fears down, then asked, “How much?”

Nicholas eyed Daphne steadily, then parted his thin lips, ever so slightly, and calmly revealed the sum with his melodious voice. “1,800 bucks.”

‘1,800 bucks!’

Daphne leaped from her seat and stared at Nicholas. “1,800 bucks!” she exclaimed in disbelief. “This is extortion!”

How could a phone cost 1,800 bucks? Everyone used a cell phone now. If Nicholas had pulled out a cell phone and told Daphne that it cost 1,800 bucks, perhaps she might actually believe him.

But a telephone… An object that was close to extinction couldn’t possibly be worth 1,800 bucks!

This was obviously blackmail!

Nicholas smirked when he saw the accusation in Daphne’s eyes. He stared at Daphne in a lofty manner, then said, “Allow me to correct myself. By 1,800 bucks, I meant European currency.”

European currency!

A phone worth €1,800!

Daphne gasped, glared at Nicholas, and cried, “Stop lying! It’s just a tool for communication. Yes, that phone of yours is styled like an antique, but it can’t be that expensive!”

She could still remember that the phone she had used was built with a rotary dial.

This telephone was rather unique, but it should be handcrafted, at most!

Nicholas crossed his arms, smirked, and said, “Calling you an ignorant country bumpkin would be high praise! Whoever told you that this phone was used for making calls?”

Daphne frowned at Nicholas, speechless.

“This was once used by an English prince. One might consider it an antique. It was put there for decorating purposes, and you used it to make a call and broke it too!”

“€1,800 is the price I paid for it at the time. The value has probably increased by now, and I haven’t calculated your phone bill.”

Nicholas’s aloof tone made it sound like he was doing Daphne a huge favor.

‘It’s an antique…’

Daphne stared at Nicholas in disbelief. She paused, gritted her teeth, and snapped. “I don’t believe it! Show me the phone!”

Since it was an antique that had been preserved for many years, how could she have broken it so easily?

Nicholas tossed the phone at Daphne. She dodged it from the side, and the phone narrowly missed her head.

She had no time to argue with him. Daphne picked up the phone and examined it closely.

She didn’t have her glasses, so her squinting made her seem very strange. She looked like a blind woman with an eye disease.

The expression on Nicholas’s handsome face changed. He stared at Daphne in utter bemusement. “Are you blind?”

‘You’re the blind one!’ Daphne cursed internally.

She paused, then put down the phone in front of her eyes. “It’s not that, I’m short-sighted. I can’t see without my glasses,” she explained.

Did he think that he could fool her just because she was “blind”?

Nicholas raised his brow, then relaxed his tensed muscles, and leaned back again.

‘As long as she’s not blind, it’s fine. Otherwise, it seems…’

However, Nicholas soon knit his brows irritably again.

‘That would mean that this girl couldn’t get a good look at my face at all last night? That explains why she didn’t recognize me!’

Daphne scrutinized the telephone for a very long time. She couldn’t find anything wrong with it. She may be short-sighted but could still see very clearly within a short distance.

“Your telephone isn’t broken at all!” Daphne had completed her examination and frowned at Nicholas.

Nicholas raised a brow. “Says who? The upper right corner of the receiver, see for yourself!”

Daphne paused, then picked up the phone and examined it again. She put it down after a long pause. “It’s obviously alright! There’s nothing wrong with it at all!” She snapped irritably.

She simply couldn’t find anything wrong with it.

“There’s a paint chip, right there. Can’t you see it?” Nicholas insisted.

Daphne was speechless. ‘A paint chip…’

“What do you want, Nicholas Wolfe?”

Daphne would be an idiot if she still couldn’t tell that he was playing her.

“I want you to compensate me. €1,800. Will it be cash or credit card? Or cheque?” Nicholas stared at Daphne with a forced smile on his face.

Daphne lowered her head, speechless.

‘€1,800… I don’t have that much money.’

“Looks like you don’t have the money?” Nicholas asked, despite already knowing the answer.

The intel that he had received today was very clear—Daphne had been doing part-time jobs ever since she was a freshman at high school. She had been paying for her own school fees and living expenses.

“Yes, I don’t have the money.” Daphne nodded.

There was nothing to deny. She really didn’t have the money.

“What are you going to do? Since you don’t have the money.” Nicholas eyed Daphne. The tone in his voice was enough to drive her up the wall.

Daphne paused and asked, “What do you want me to do?”

admin.3 City Love: Exclusively Yours   Chapter 30 What’s A Pimp?

“Mm?”Nicholas’ leg paused just before stepping onto the stairs. His lanky figure turned around. His eyes flashed as he raised his brow and asked, “When did she arrive?”‘That little girl’s been discharged?’“Ten minutes ago,” Mathilda replied.“Understood.” Nicholas turned around and headed upstairs.Mathilda took a step forward and said, “Master Nicholas, what about your date with Miss Bianca?”“Cancel it!”Nicholas’s voice held no warmth. His tall figure disappeared into the staircase.“Okay,” Mathilda turned around to make the call.…Daphne was kneeling on the ground, as she had found a plug point behind a cupboard. She plugged her phone in to charge and waited anxiously.A few minutes later, she pressed the button to switch on the phone. Her phone showed no response…“Hey, what’s going on? Is it not working again?” Daphne frowned, shaking her phone around. She had been using this phone for a very long time, and the battery would be unresponsive sometimes.Daphne wa

Nicholas opened one of the ointments and applied it to Daphne’s wound. His application was uneven because he was using every inch of his willpower to control his hands…After applying the medicine on her back, Nicholas’s voice rang aloud again from behind her. “Take off your clothes!”“Huh?”Daphne whipped her head around and looked at Nicholas but was met with Nicholas’s vicious face.“What do you mean, ‘huh’? Strip!”Daphne was speechless.“Master Nicholas, lunch is served.”Lucas appeared at the doorway, carrying a paper bag. He had just spoken when he realized that something was amiss.Daphne, who should be lying on the bed, was sitting bolt upright on the couch. Her misty gaze was staring straight at him. The supposedly vigorous and lively Master Nicholas was horizontal on the hospital bed.‘Is Master Nicholas’s headache bothering him again?’Lucas frowned. He hurriedly strode toward the sickbed. “Master Nicholas, are you alright?”“Stop right there!” Nicholas roared i

Nicholas coldly eyed Daphne. His tall figure got up from the couch. Then, he strode toward Daphne with his long legs.Daphne sensed it. She lifted her head and stared in astonishment at Nicholas, who was getting increasingly close to her.Nicholas kept his eye on Daphne, then lay down next to her.The VIP patient room had a bed big enough to fit four adults. Daphne jolted away from him as if she had been electrocuted. Moving her body, which was riddled with injuries, made her wince in pain.“Are you good at massages?” Nicholas’s icy voice suddenly asked.Daphne paused. She lifted her head, looked at him, and shook her head. “No.”“You can’t even massage temples?”Nicholas turned his head over and frowned at Daphne. This was Daphne’s first time in such close proximity to him under these circumstances. Her dainty face instantly blushed as she avoided Nicholas’s gaze. “I’ve never massaged anyone, so I don’t know if I’m good at it,” she said.Nicholas’s eyes flashed, and he chuckl

There was a purple mark on her shoulder. It was obvious that disinfectant had been applied to the wound.Daphne vaguely remembered Nicholas biting her, and not just on the shoulder.Today hurt much more than that time back at The Palace Hotel. Her entire body hurt as if bones had been dislocated.Daphne straightened out her clothes, then reached out to take the ointment on the bedside table and examined it…Click. She suddenly heard the sound of the hospital room door open. Daphne jumped, then immediately slipped her hand under the covers and lifted her gaze toward the door.“You’re awake, Miss Blythe?”Lucas walked in.Daphne wasn’t wearing her glasses. She squinted at Lucas. “Mr. Shaw. What are you doing here?”“I’ve always been here. Master Nicholas needed a document, so I had to leave for a while,” Lucas explained.Daphne was surprised. She nodded. It looked like the doctor had misunderstood her relationship with Lucas and thought that he was her boyfriend.Daphne wasn’

admin.3 City Love: Exclusively Yours   Chapter 26 Seemingly Redundant

Nicholas was taken aback. The storm in his dark pupils slowly dissipated. His eyes filled with ridicule as he stared at her. “Aren’t you in college? Why are you so superstitious? What? Does your college teach fortune-telling?”‘Now it makes sense. I had to comb through the entire villa to find her. So after all of that effort, it’s all because she’d hidden away in mourning, thinking that she’s bad luck! She must be insane!’Daphne’s face began heating up after that stinging remark from his venomous tongue. She bit her lips and replied, “I’m not superstitious. Mathilda says that you and I can’t…”Daphne lowered her head as she mumbled the last few words of her reply, in a decibel exclusively for ants.“Can’t what? Can’t have sex with me?” Nicholas icily snapped.Daphne’s face blushed even more. She kept her head firmly down, too afraid to look Nicholas in the eye as she nodded.Silence.The only noise in the room was the sound of the wind beating against the cotton gauze curtains

“Miss Blythe.”Just as Daphne was admiring her surroundings, Mathilda suddenly came to a halt, turned around, and calmly stared at her.Daphne jumped. “Mm?”Mathilda reached out and opened the room door next to her. “This will be your room from now on,” she said. “You’ll stay here for now, as your relative has just passed away. It would be bad luck for you to share a room with Master Nicholas. You will move into Master Nicholas’s room after you’ve completed a week of mourning.”Daphne was taken aback. She instinctively looked at her black mourning clothes. She had chosen to go into mourning for Joan.“Do you have any questions, Miss Blythe?” Mathilda asked.Daphne snapped back into her senses, shook her head, and replied, “No.”This was good. She wouldn’t have to share a room with Nicholas for the time being and wouldn’t feel too nervous, even though Nicholas wasn’t around at the moment.“Please go inside then,” Mathilda calmly said.Daphne walked in. The maid put her luggage

“I know!” Daphne exclaimed, cutting off Lucas.“You don’t have to list the benefits of being Nicholas Wolfe’s mistress. You don’t have to tell me about how every girl wants this opportunity.” Daphne stared at Lucas grimly. “Because I see no glory in becoming someone’s mistress.”Lucas stared at Da

Charles glanced at Daphne, sighing ruefully. He had encountered a considerable amount of beautiful women, yet even he had ended up making a mistake.‘This four-eyed girl seemed like an average good-looking girl when she’s wearing her glasses, but she actually looks stunning once she takes them off!

Olivia noticed Charles, who had just walked in. She gave Daphne a derisive glare, but her eyes were secretly sizing up Charles. The man’s presence alone was enough to tell her that he wasn’t a normal person. ‘When did she find this guy?’Charles remained standing in his spot after entering the roo

A blustery wind was beating against Daphne’s long hair, blocking Joan’s gravestone from view. Daphne squinted and said, “So sue me!”She ignored Olivia’s extra sharpened screams and ended the call. She clutched the phone tightly in her hand, staring fixedly at the gravestone.…As they headed dow
