Chapter 11 Male Classmate

Nicholas was obviously interested in Daphne. At this point, saying Daphne’s full name at a time like this would be unsuitable.

This was Nicholas’s first time being stuck between a rock and a hard place. He couldn’t tell them to leave now, so he had no choice but to pull a straight face and agree in a nonchalant manner.

Lucas promptly opened the car door and got out of the car upon receiving his boss’s approval.

Daphne could only see the car door swing open and a man stepping out of the vehicle. Then… he walked toward her!

Daphne could hear shrieks from a gaggle of schoolgirls, who were waiting for the bus as well. When the man approached her, she squinted her eyes to get a closer look at him and realized why… He was extremely handsome.

However…

Daphne curled her lips disinterestedly. She had met someone much more handsome than that, although that man was a jerk.

At first, Daphne thought that this handsome man was only walking toward her direction. To her surprise, he stopped in front of her.

Daphne stared at the man in front of her, perplexed. They were very close to each other. She didn’t need to squint to have a clear view of his face.

“Can I help you?” Daphne asked politely.

Lucas’s heart thumped, and he thought, ‘That can’t be, it’s only been two days. Can’t she recognize me?’

“Miss Montgomery, don’t you remember me?” Lucas asked carefully.

‘Montgomery…’

This man knew her surname. That meant that he wasn’t here to ask for directions.

Daphne stared at Lucas warily and replied, “You’ve got the wrong girl. My last name isn’t ‘Montgomery’, it’s ‘Blythe’.”

The already apprehensive Lucas was immediately stumped. His sloe eyes stared fixedly at Daphne. After a long pause, he said, “Please wait a moment.”

He had to get confirmation. Lucas frowned as he quickly got back into the car.

“What’s going on?” Nicholas’s impatient voice spoke up as soon as Lucas had arrived.

‘That girl is still standing under the hot sun instead of coming inside with Lucas.’

“Master Nicholas, Miss Montgomery doesn’t seem to recognize me. Furthermore, she’s insisted that her last name isn’t ‘Montgomery’, but ‘Blythe’!” Lucas frowned.

There was no mention of a twin sister in their intel on Daphne. Thus, why would there be a girl who looked exactly like her and denying her surname? She really didn’t seem to recognize him either…

Nicholas glanced outside the window, smirked, and replied, “She’s short-sighted. Forget about you, she doesn’t even remember what I look like!”

Only he, Nicholas Wolfe, could forget what the women in his bed looked like. How could this woman forget his face?

The thought of it enraged him!

“I see.” Lucas nodded, finally enlightened. Then, he suddenly frowned again and said, “But she’s denied her surname and insists that it’s ‘Blythe’!”

“If a random stranger called out your name in the streets, would you answer?” Nicholas stared at Lucas as if he were looking at an idiot. His keen eyes were full of judgment.

Lucas was taken aback. He immediately returned to his senses and felt deeply ashamed.

He, the great Nicholas Wolfe’s assistant, had been fooled by a schoolgirl!

“Please wait a moment, Master Nicholas. I’ll escort Miss Montgomery into the car at once.”

Lucas opened the car door with efficiency, then approached Daphne again.

“Miss Montgomery.” The good-natured Lucas stood in front of Daphne once again, wearing a smile.

‘What’s he doing here again?’

Daphne’s wariness grew. She gave Lucas an icy stare. “I’ve told you, that’s not my name. You’ve got the wrong girl!”

“No, I haven’t. I’m looking for you, Miss Montgomery.” Lucas would never allow himself to fail a second time. He continued, refusing to give Daphne any chance of raising a dispute. “You may not remember your surname, Miss Montgomery, but surely you must remember The Palace Hotel, the presidential suite, and—”

Daphne immediately lunged at Lucas before he could complete his sentence, covering his mouth as the gaggle of girls continued squealing. She shot Lucas a sharp glare and asked, “Who are you? What do you want?”

Lucas frowned, looked at Daphne, and replied, “Will you let go of me now, Miss Montgomery?”

After all, Nicholas was watching them from the car. This woman had slept with Nicholas before, and this would be inappropriate.

Daphne paused and released Lucas, then stared at him with a frown.

“Please step into the vehicle, Miss Montgomery.” Lucas ushered Daphne into the Rolls-Royce.

Daphne glanced at the back and stayed still.

She wasn’t an idiot. She wasn’t going to plunge headfirst into danger when there was clearly a risk.

“Miss Montgomery?” Lucas urged.

Daphne still refused to move. Suddenly, a bus arrived. The Rolls-Royce was blocking the way to its stop, so it began honking incessantly.

Lucas stared at Daphne steadily, as if he didn’t hear the honks at all.

‘Fine then. It looks like he’s going to continue standing there if I don’t get in. Everyone’s going to stare.’

Left with no choice, Daphne dragged her luggage toward the Rolls-Royce. Lucas grabbed the tension bar in her hands and said, “Allow me.”

Surprisingly, this man was actually polite.

Daphne glanced at Lucas before walking to the side of the car. However, just as she opened the car door, she was in shock.

‘A woman? And…’

Daphne, who was a woman as well, blushed at the sight of the woman in the car’s outfit. The air-conditioning was at full blast in the car, yet she was barely dressed. Did she not feel cold?

The incessant honks from the bus behind her and impatient complaints from other pedestrians waiting for the bus filled her ears. However, Daphne was too afraid to get into the vehicle.

‘There’s a woman, dressed provocatively, sitting in the car. Could this car be…’

“How much longer do you plan on standing there? Don’t you know that you’re letting the air-conditioning out and suffocating me with this heat?” A cold voice, which was even icier than the air-conditioning, resounded. Daphne was taken aback, then quickly bent down and peered further into the car.

Her movements were rather comical, causing Nicholas’s eyes to flash with amusement. However, his voice was just as cold as ever when he said, “What are you looking at? Don’t tell me you don’t recognize me again. I might as well gouge your eyes out if that’s the case! It’s like they’re simply planted on your face for decorative purposes!”

‘It’s really him, Nicholas Wolfe!’

Daphne trembled uncontrollably. She wanted to run, but she felt as if her feet were nailed to the ground.

“Miss Montgomery, please get into the car.” Lucas’s voice rang aloud from behind her. Daphne immediately turned around and saw Lucas staring squarely at her as if he wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer.

She had no choice.

Daphne gritted her teeth and got into the car. Lucas closed the door for her and got into the front seat.

The crowd watched as the Rolls-Royce sped away from the bus stop.

Daphne practically glued herself against the door, trying her best to stay as far away from Nicholas as possible.

The car was completely silent. Not a single sound was heard.

Daphne was beginning to think that Nicholas wouldn’t cause her any trouble since he had such a beautiful woman by his side.

“Where are you going?” Nicholas’s icy voice suddenly spoke up, causing Daphne to shiver.

No one answered. Only then did Daphne realize that Nicholas was most likely talking to her.
