"President Murphy will certainly..."

James wanted to reassure her, but he was interrupted viciously.

"Certainly? Certainly your *ss!

"Do you think that President Murphy will listen to you? Who do you think you are? Wake up! Didn’t you hear? Everyone said that you’re just a mere security guard who leeches off your wife! You’re just a security guard! That’s all!"

Triggered, Wendy could not control her anger. Her chest heaved sharply.

After her tirade, it became quiet in the car.

"Don't worry, the clowns will not be able to jump around for long. I’ll accompany you to the inauguration tomorrow to meet President Murphy. I fulfill all my promises.”

James sounded calm, but at the same time, full of confidence.

"Hm?"

Wendy looked at James questioningly. She did not understand why he was so confident.

He also had the last name Murphy. Would he possibly be related to President Murphy in some way?

For a moment, Wendy suddenly felt that she did not understand this man.

This man had married into the Fuller family for ten years, and he was only a security guard now, but he had a mysterious aura around him.

Thinking of how the man had taught Hugh Larson a lesson and embarrassed Headmaster Zahn publicly, Wendy gradually calmed down.

"Let's go pick Bella up."

James started the car, stepped on the gas pedal, and drove toward the kindergarten. He glanced at the rearview mirror.

As expected, the white van was still following them.

‘They’re looking for death.’

James sneered in his mind.

The couple picked up Bella from the kindergarten together. James also took her to the supermarket. He ended up carrying a huge bag of groceries and junk food on one hand, and Bella with the other.

"Daddy, kiss!”

Bella held James’ cheek and smacked a big kiss on it. She then turned back and pulled Wendy over for a kiss as well. “Muah!”

After the kiss, Bella happily waved her little hand, muttering excitedly.

When they reached home, Wendy opened the door. She was getting ready to take the bags James was carrying from him before sending him home.

She did not expect James to walk directly into the kitchen and start busying around after setting Bella down.

"What are you doing?"

Wendy followed him in quickly, the smile on her face slowly receding. Her expression became icy-cold, one that could repel people with just a look. “Or do you want to stay here? This is impossible. You’ve gone against the rules set in the premarital contract. You better not misunderstand this, thinking that you have a chance with me. I’m just doing everything for Bella.”

James smiled softly. He did not speak.

Five years ago, it was him who had left painful memories behind for the woman.

‘Although the hate and suffering you’ve experienced is a lot, I’ll use the rest of my life to compensate you and Bella.

‘I’ll make you the happiest people on Earth!’

“I’m making the dishes I cook best for you, braised pork belly and steamed sea bass.” James busied around despite the circumstances.

"What are you doing? Get out! "

Wendy was angry. In her mind, James was harboring bad intentions behind his actions.

James started cooking, like he said he would.

"Are you leaving or not?"

"No, someone's following us. If I leave, you’ll be in danger. Moreover, I said I will accompany you to the ceremony of President Murphy's appointment tomorrow," James said in a proper way.

"You liar, you b*stard!"

Wendy was sure that James was toying with her. She was angry, but she had no idea how to deal with this situation. She was afraid that Bella would think something was wrong, so she could only close the kitchen door and leave.

Dozens of minutes later, a fragrance wafted from the kitchen.

Bella sniffed and licked her lips. “Smells good! Mama, what is Dad cooking?”

"I don't know," Wendy replied exasperatedly. She was thinking about how to drive James away. She was slightly regretting bringing him into the house.

Maybe she should tell her daughter the truth? No. Bella would definitely throw a fit.

Her thoughts were all over the place, and yet she did not know what to do.

At this moment, the kitchen door was pushed open. James came out of the kitchen with delicious dishes. “Dear, go wash your hands. We’re having dinner soon! We have braised pork belly, steamed sea bass, hand-shredded chicken, and stir-fried zucchini. They’ll taste good!”

"Wow!”

After washing her hands, Bella sat on the chair. Her eyes shined bright. She quickly picked up some pork belly and put it in her mouth.

"Delicious! Mama, the meat Dad cooked is so delicious! Come eat it, quick! I’ll finish it if you don’t!"

"I’m not hungry."

Wendy was still pissed. She shook her head insistently, refusing to eat.

She watched as her daughter and James ate their meal happily while inhaling the fragrant aroma of the dishes. She could not help swallowing her saliva.

James said with a smile, "Do you really not want to eat?”

"No!"

Wendy sneered. “Who knows what you put in those dishes and what motives you have?”

Rumble!

As soon as she said her words, her stomach rumbled. She flushed immediately, looking embarrassed.

She had been busy the whole day, and she had not eaten much at the birthday dinner. She was feeling really hungry now.

"If you're hungry, eat some. It's delicious," James said with a smile.

"No!"

"Mama, really... This is delicious. Dad's cooking is better than yours... It's much better. I'll just have Dad cook in the future."

The cute Bella muttered as she shoved food into her mouth.

Looking at how her daughter and James were eating vigorously while also facing the delicious food, Wendy swallowed her saliva time after time.

Maybe...

Maybe she could just take a bite and see how it tasted? She could not just carelessly let her daughter eat the stuff the man cooked, could she?

What if he put something in it?

Wendy finally could not help it. While comforting herself, she picked up a pair of chopsticks and put a piece of braised pork in her mouth.

The braised pork belly was made with five-layer pork belly of the best quality chosen by James himself and cooked with a secret recipe.

It was soft and glutinous and melted in the mouth effortlessly!

It was much better than the cooking of a five-star hotel chef!

Wendy’s eyes lit up immediately. It was delicious! She did not expect this guy to be so good at cooking!

James said with a smile, “Is it delicious?”

"It's average. It's worse than my cooking," Wendy said that, but her chopsticks moved fast.

In the beginning, Wendy was still concerned with her manners and upholding her image, so she only took small bites. Later, she forgot about everything.

She reached for the meat at a speed faster than Bella, causing Bella to whine at her and asking her to eat slower.

‘What a proud woman with no good words to say!’

James curled his mouth and put down his chopsticks so that he could watch both mother and daughter eat.

He had prepared four large dishes and a pot of rice. Everything was polished by the mother and daughter to the point that nothing was left.

"I'm full..."

"Mama, I’m stuffed!"

Both mother and daughter lay on the sofa, caressing their stomachs with satisfied looks on their faces.

James' heart felt full with happiness as he tidied up the table quietly.

After dinner, James played the role of a househusband nicely. He washed the dishes, swept and mopped the floor clean, then played with Bella for a while.

At that moment, Bella rubbed her eyes. She was tired.

"Bella wants to sleep. You can leave now."

Noticing her tiredness, Wendy tried to ask James to leave again.

Unexpectedly, Bella woke up immediately. She hugged James’ leg tightly, saying cutely, "No, no, Dad can’t go. I want to sleep with him.”

"No way!"

Wendy shook her head quickly.
