Chapter 3

Half an hour later, Harvey reached Mandy’s company. As he was about to enter through the entrance, a bodyguard stopped him with a stun baton all of a sudden. The bodyguard said coldly, “Get lost! We don’t welcome beggars here.”

Harvey had just woken up, and he did not manage to clean himself up first. Besides, he was wearing a T-shirt and a pair of shorts with patches all over them. He did seem just like a beggar by the road.

However, Harvey was used to that kind of thing. He smiled and said, “Mister, I’m here to send a document to my wife.”

“Do you have a wife given the way you look?” The bodyguard was suspicious. “Is it the cleaning lady—Zara or the worker who works at the back kitchen—Lily?”

“My wife is Mandy,” said Harvey.

The bodyguard was stunned. Soon, he broke into laughter. “I see. You’re the son-in-law of the Zimmers.” He could not cease laughing.

Harvey shook his head. It never occurred to him that he was quite famous.

“That’s enough. Hand me the document. Miss Zimmer asked me to take the document from you if you’re here,” said the bodyguard.

“No.” Harvey shook his head in determination. “My sister-in-law said that it’s quite important, so I need to hand it to my wife in person. Could you please step aside…”

“You!” The bodyguard pointed at Harvey helplessly. ‘Is he crazy? Doesn’t he know how the Zimmers dislike him? Besides, he’s dressed up like this. Isn’t he afraid of ruining the company’s image?'

While they were talking to each other, they heard a loud blaring sound of a car engine from behind them all of a sudden. Soon, a BMW 5 series was seen parked beside Harvey’s electric bike after a high-speed drift maneuver. Then, they saw Don getting out of the car with a bouquet of roses in his hand.

“Great to see you here, Mr. Xander!” Noticing Don, the arrogant bodyguard soon appeared cordial and flattering. He soon said, “Mr. Xander, please walk this way. Miss Zimmer has been waiting for you in the office for a long time now.”

Don nodded at him. He then turned and walked into the company without even glancing at Harvey.

Harvey was about to enter the company too. However, the bodyguard raised his stun baton and blocked Harvey’s way again.

“What do you mean? Why is he allowed to enter the company and I’m not?” Harvey stared at the bodyguard and asked.

The bodyguard sighed and said, “Harvey, you’re just a son-in-law. How could you be compare to Mr. Xander? See, the perfume and roses in his hand certainly cost more than a few hundred bucks. Do you have that kind of money? From what I can see, you’ll cease to be their son-in-law soon.”

Harvey was stunned for a short while. He then frowned and asked, “What do you mean?”

“What do I mean? Are you stupid or are you putting up a show here? The incident which happened the night before is spread all over the city. Everyone knows that Mr. Xander is pursuing Miss Zimmer. They are a good-looking pair. They belong with each other. Take a look at yourself! You seem so pathetic and useless. I wonder why did Miss Zimmer agree to marry you in the first place?” The bodyguard chided him.

Meanwhile, the elevator in the lobby of the company opened. Mandy walked out of the elevator in a floral dress, looking so charming and beautiful.

At that moment, she saw Don. She smiled and nodded at him. She then said, “Mr. Xander, I’ve been waiting for you for some time.”

Don narrowed his eyes, and a flash of greed was seen deep in his eyes. It was almost indiscernible.

He licked his lips unconsciously and handed her the bouquet of flowers gracefully. He smiled and said, “Some people said that wonderful gifts should be given to people who deserve them. Mandy, you’re just as beautiful as a flower. So only you could deserve to be gifted with this bouquet of flowers.”

Mandy frowned slightly. She still remembered the incident which had happened the night before. Don had proposed to her in front of everybody, and now the entire incident was known in Niumhi. Now, he even pursued after her in such an outrageously daring manner.

At first, Mandy was reluctant to meet Don. But her company was in dire need of some funds now, so she had no choice but to ask Don for help.

Thinking about that, Mandy smiled and said, “Mr. Xander, you flatter me. I invited you over today with such cordiality because I would like to negotiate a business deal with you. How could I take gifts from you?”

Don smiled happily and said, “It’s not a big deal, and it doesn’t mean much. Mandy, you said that you don’t want my gift. Are you thinking that it’s not good enough? How about this? I’ll ask somebody to send some airflown flowers over from Prague. How about it?”

“You don’t have to do that. The production of roses in Prague is not good this year. I heard that the roses they grow there cost more than a thousand dollars per rose. It isn’t worth that much…” Mandy shook her head. Although she adored the roses there, she could not help but find the price unreasonable.

“More than a thousand dollars per rose…” Don’s eyes twitched slightly. ‘Certainly, I cannot present only a rose to her. I’ve more than a hundred roses here in my hand. If I do want to give her a present, I need to have as much as this. Therefore, it’ll cost more than two million dollars.’

As Don thought of that, he could not help but appear slightly awkward although he was a man who always appeared condescending in front of the others because of his wealth.

However, at that moment, Harvey who was standing outside of the lobby got past the bodyguard and barged into the lobby all of a sudden. He snatched away the bouquet of flowers in Don’s hand and threw it on the floor.

“Dear, don’t take things from others. If you do like roses, I’ll buy it for you. It’s just mere roses!” Unknowingly, Harvey became quite bold. He grabbed Mandy’s gentle and small hand and dragged her towards the elevator.

“Harvey, let go of me. What kind of nonsense did you say?” Mandy rebuked him softly.

They were currently in the lobby of the company, and it was crowded. Certainly, she could not make a fool of herself given that she was the CEO there. So she unconsciously wanted to release her hand, but it was held tightly by Harvey.

“B*stard! Come back here!” At first, Don was feeling slightly awkward. Now, he was engulfed in deep wrath. In fact, he picked that bouquet of flowers with much care as it cost him more than a thousand dollars. He would certainly be outraged given that it was thrown on the floor just like that.

‘What’s more important here is that b*stard is holding my goddess’s hand! I didn’t even get to hold her hand yet!’

“You ruined my flowers! Are you able to compensate for that? Who the hell are you?” Don slapped the door of the elevator with his left hand and forced the door to open again.

“B*stard! You better give me an explanation now. Otherwise, you'll have to pay a heavy price for it!”
