ALINA

Zion cleared his throat, his anchoring stare never leaving me, "Are you okay?" He asked emotionlessly. Almost as if he didn't really care but asked out of courtesy.

My words escaped me yet again, just like this morning, and I stood there as mute as a headless chicken. I found the energy in me to give him a slight nod before feeling a hand wrap around my arm, pulling me away and also bringing me back to my senses.

"What was that?" Max quipped, glaring at me with skepticism in his eyes. It wasn't like me to freeze up because I wasn't a shy person. I wasn't outspoken either, I was somewhere in the middle and I was happy for that because that meant I wasn't socially awkward.

"I... I don't know," I admitted, "I get a strange feeling when he's around and he always seems to be around." I shook my head as I tried to rid my mind of what had just happened.

"I'm surprised you didn't have a creative reply to him," Max quirked an eyebrow at me as we made our way to AP math class.

"You're lucky I don't stuff you into a locker for what you did. It was all your fault. I would have preferred to kiss the filthy floor than to have landed in his stupid arms," I whined, "Who was on the phone anyway?"

"Just Sophia, checking up on us. I didn't get much of a chance to talk to her since you were busy gazing into that guy's eyes." He began making kissing sounds and I nearly hit him upside the head.

Shooting Max a deadly glare, I mumbled more too myself than anything else, "I just hope I don't have to run into him for the rest of the day."

~~~
Today must have been the worst day of my entire existence. Each time I whispered the words of not wanting to see the new kid he somehow showed up seconds later. He was evil incarnate and I couldn't find a way to send him from where he came. There was only one class we didn't have together and that was psychology. I had no idea what he had when I had that class but I prayed that he wouldn't somehow show up in the one class I was free of him. We even did Latin like me and surprisingly, he was excellent at speaking the language fluently.
Max offered me a ride home after school but I declined thinking that the fresh autumn breeze would do me some good. It wasn't too cold nor too warm out. The weather was just perfect for a stroll. The leaves on the tall trees that lined the sidewalk had started to brown and fall to the now paling grass around it. A wind whisked through the air that awakened goosebumps throughout my body. I loved this autumn weather. It made me feel free.
A loud honk of a car that seemed to be trailing me brought me back to reality. I turned around, wide-eyed when I saw who it was. I knew my face had an unpleasant expression decorating it since I didn't care to hide my annoyance.
"Lina right?" The new kid asked with a smug smile tugging at his pink, heart-shaped lips. They looked too good, too perfect to belong to someone like him but it was always the jerks blessed with the Godly good looks.
I rolled my eyes, displeased at the fact he used my pet name, "Alina Hart!" I specified, stressing each name so he wouldn't have the chance to forget it.
"So she speaks," he said in a fake shock that made me want to grab my pocket knife and engrave the word 'dipshit' on his shiny black car, "You didn't even speak to me in chemistry or when I tried speaking to you. I was beginning to think you were mute."
I offered him a tight smile as I continued walking and he kept trailing me with his car, "I'm sure Megan must have cleared up your doubts about me." For some reason, my tone sounded scornful but I truly wasn't.
"Megan, yeah. She's an interesting one," the end of his lips quirked into a suggestive smirk matching his tone. The smirk was worse than the smug grin he had. And by worse, I meant annoyingly attractive.
"What do you want new kid?" I was growing increasingly frustrated by his presence. All I wanted was a calm walk home in peace and usually, that wouldn't have been difficult to do but this boy clearly had it out for me.
"Well Alina," he trailed off, "We started off on a bad note and I figured I'd have to deal with you for the whole semester considering you're in all my classes. So, what I'm getting at is, could I give you a ride home?"
"No thanks, new kid. I'm good!"
"It's Zion, Zion Collins," he laughed, completely unfazed by my rejection of his offer.
"I know your name, you introduced yourself in every class." It was quite amusing to watch because he seemed to be uncomfortable in front of crowds. He had the tendency of shifting from one leg to the other continuously, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand and stuttering after saying every third word. He exuded confidence but when it came to speaking in front of a multitude of people he became nervous.
"And yet you still call me new kid?" He voiced, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"You're new, you're a kid. I see no problem here," I shrugged.
"You're something else, Alina." He made sure to stress my name the way I did before continuing, "You sure you don't want that ride home. You might find me more appealing if you gave it a chance."
I stared at the rain clouds above head that were rolling into town really fast. It wouldn't be long until they hovered above me a burst open. I thought over his offer before finally jumping into his sporty looking black BMW.
Here goes nothing!
Zion   Epilogue
ZION"Let me help you with that," I suggested, trying to pry Alina's fingers off the heavy box she attempted to carry. She was doing a good job at it, hiding how much pain she was in by wearing a smile on her face but I could easily spot the beads of sweat forming on her forehead.She bared her teeth at me, a growl like sound vibrating in her throat, "Don't you dare Collins. I can carry my stuff up. I don't need your help."I chuckled at her reaction. So much pride in one little adorable body. Finally, the ding of the elevator was heard and the doors parted. I ushered Alina in, carrying two boxes of my own in my grasp; my boxes, however, were far lighter than hers. If I didn't know better, I'd have thought she brought her entire bedroom of belongings with us to New York.There was another ding and the doors parted to our floor. I kept my footsteps in time with hers, making sure not to leave he
Zion   Chapter 57
ZION"It's so cold," Alina complained, hugging her body and jumping up and down in one spot, "Why do we have to do this now? I can wait for spring to set in. I'm really in no rush Zi..."I groaned, "You say that now but by tomorrow it will be playing on your mind again so we rather get this done and over with before you drive me to the brink of insanity."She scowled at me, shooting me the bird, "I sometimes wonder why I even love you!" Her statement earned an eye roll from me and a nonchalant shrug. It made sense that she would be cold since she wore a top that had a really low back. The cold probably pricked at the skin of her bare back and arms but that was her fault alone. She now proclaimed to be patient but for the past month, she had been annoyed by the thought of not having her wings. To finally put her at ease, I suggested we test out the theory. It was mid-F
Zion   Chapter 56
ZION I shrugged off my jacket and pulled off my shirt, tossing the both into the passenger seat before exiting the car. Before doing anything else, I sent a text to Max telling him to take Alina home because I knew she would walk if she couldn't find me. It was cold out and I really didn't want her walking but at the same time I wasn't in the mood for company.Locking my car, I walked over to the frozen lake. It looked like a calming winter wonderland and yet it still wasn't calming enough for the raging storm that was tearing me up from within. Making sure no one was around, I rolled my shoulders and let my wings out. It was cold but the cold didn't bother me as usual.Within five strong strokes I was almost above the clouds; the best place to be once you were in the sky if you had to ask me. Once I made it above the clouds, I just flew around for a bit. Letting the dense air clear my mind. As weird as i
Zion   Chapter 55
ZIONWe didn't know what to do with Kendra. She kept apologizing profusely, kept saying that she didn't want to do what she did and was forced to by her father. Deep down, I wanted to believe her but I didn't. I couldn't. We still let her go because there was honestly nothing else we could do but we kept a close eye on her. That was until she disappeared two days later. There were rumors that her and her mother had just packed up in the middle of the night and left town.Good riddance I say. The further away from me and my family the better. Killing her would only be a pleasure for me if she brought it to that. There was nothing stopping me from doing it now. Nothing beside Alina ordering me not to I mean. I respected Alina enough to listen to her because I didn't want her to get mad at me. I lost so much, I couldn't lose her too.Mabel, Grayson, and Alina helped plan the funeral
Zion   Chapter 54
ZIONI reappeared in my bedroom finding Kendra's hands tied to my bedpost and her father's limb and very dead body still on my bedroom floor. Rolling my shoulders, the weight of my wings vanished so I took the opportunity to put a shirt on. Just then, Alina shot up from the bed with a loud gasp. Her subconscious finally returning to her physical body. The first thing she did was throw a hand behind her to feel her wings which weren't there. Disappointment colored her features when she realized this.Placing a hand on her shoulder, I gave it a gentle reassuring squeeze, "It will all be okay."She met my gaze, "Yeah, I know. I was just getting used to having them that's all," with those words, a perplexed sigh left her lips, "I should be telling you that though not the other way around."I clenched my molars, keeping my mouth shut from spitting something I would regret later. This wasn't a t
Zion   Chapter 53
ZIONRuthlessness.When I looked into Alina's blackened eyes that were the only thing I could see. She didn't know it, couldn't see it, but at that moment she looked a lot like the man that fathered her. The female devil herself asserting her power and taking the reigns.I knew I showed no emotion, keeping my face blank as I stared at her but deep down my mind was reeling and my stomach was churning. On her back, a pair of beautiful crimson wings sat. Unfurled, they were huge, almost as big as mine. I had never heard of an angel who managed to get their wings back after they were chopped off, but then again, I didn't know they still chopped of wings until I met Alina.Again, it only proved that there was so much I didn't know about my kind. I couldn't help but wonder if those wings would still be there once her subconscious returned to her physical form.
Zion   Chapter 26
ZIONDriving was my way to forget. It usually calmed me down. Usually being the operative word. The faster I went, the calmer I felt but this time not even my need for speed and the feeling of the cold wind hitting my face, and flowing through my hair c
Alkohol und Liebeskummer sind definitiv keine gute Kombination. Schade, dass ich das etwas zu spät gelernt habe. Ich bin Tessa Beckett und wurde von meinem Freund, mit dem ich drei Jahre zusammen war, schmerzlich verlassen. Das führte dazu, dass ich mich in einer Bar betrank und einen One-Night-Stand mit einem Fremden hatte. Bevor er mich am nächsten Tag als Schlampe ansah, bezahlte ich ihn für den Sex und beleidigte seine Fähigkeit, mich zu befriedigen, zutiefst. Doch dieser Fremde entpuppte sich als mein neuer Chef!
