PROLOGUE

The sun was shinning brightly, it was almost blinding. Its rays penetrated the window of the room where Ben was relaxing on the divan, lost in her own world different thoughts wandered through her mind some of which were of her ex-boyfriend, Daniel. "Bad dude" she muttered at the thoughts of him, she let out a small smile. He really explored her as much as she tried to loathe him now she couldn't he was a player but was also good in his nasty ways.

The sun rays penetrated the window heavily this time, beaming its lights directly on Ben's face.

"I thought there was an ozone layer to prevent this ultra violet rays." She groaned, if she was to make a wish at the moment, her one wish would be for the sun to shine less but who was she to stop nature from taking its course?

She changed the direction of where she was seated and flopped on her queen-sized bed, the rays penetrated less at that side of the room where her bed was placed.

She contemplated on cooking and taking a quick nap. Napping was having the upper hand when her phone beeped it was a call from her best friend, Esther.

She swiped the screen of the phone and picked the call.

"Hey Bestie, have you checked?" Came Esther's loud voice.

"Psycho" Ben muttered under her breathe, Esther doesn't know how to be formal with her, greetings before asking questions wouldn't harm her. But no, she starts every conversations haphazardly. Well, that's why they were best friends though. Damn being formal. "Checked what?" She asked confusingly.

"I have been posted!" Esther yelled almost deafening Ben's ear.

"You dummy, better stop yelling?" Ben warned.

"Common Bes I'm just so happy." She laughed, melting Ben's heart softly the rich sound of her laughter does a lot of strange things to Ben, one of the reasons why she chose her to be her best friend she needed to hear this sound more often.

"What's the craziness about?" Ben asked. "What's so special about being posted?"

"Ben! I swear its so special!" Esther shouted.

"Where were you posted to?" Ben asked looking all serious.

"Guess baby." She played Ben.

"I can't." Ben said honestly.

"Dumb head! Ekiti state baby!" She yelled again. She has a talent for shouting.

"Oh my God Esther! You will damage my ear drums if you don't stop screaming." Ben complained.

"Sorry babe. I'm just so excited." It was obvious from her yelling, "It was too sudden I never expected it." She told Ben gladly.

"Congrats though." She sounded hypocritical although she was happy for her best friend. "Can I check with my phone?" Ben suddenly got nervous.

"Of course babe you can." Esther told her.

"Alright, I will call you back." Ben ended the call before Esther could say her next words, she hesitated for a while before opening the chrome app on her phone. She paused and thought of Esther, she was lucky her grandparents lived in Ekiti state and they were a lot of people she could easily run to whenever she was stranded plus she'd get to see the warm spring in Ikogosi. Ben smiled and tapped the screen of her phone again.

"Why am I nervous?" She asked herself. "Yes, I was waiting for this." she ran a hand through her braided hair and finally summoned the courage to check. She clicked on the app and typed in her details she closed her eyes out of anxiety and opened again, she stared at the screen and blinked incessantly at the information that was displayed on it.

"Kano?" She asked herself again.

"Kano?" She repeated, furrowing her eye brows.

"Okay Kano." She accepted it wasn't an hallucination, it was real. She was posted to Kano state. "Kano" she dialed Esther's number..
