The ex-wife

It had been two weeks since i discovered that I was pregnant, like many women, i was excited when i found out about it at the hospital. My husband's mother, Danielle was there with me. She was very happy to finally become a grandmother after a few years of pestering me and Jarrod to give birth to a child.

I didn't tell my husband, Jarrod about it yet because today was our anniversary and also my birthday. I wanted to announce it to everyone downstairs and surprise Jarrod.

I took a deep breath and looked beside me but Jarrod wasn't in bed. It was quite unusual because Jarrod never got out of bed as early as 6am in the morning. It was always up to me to beat his arse to wake him up every single day. 

But today was an exception, it seemed like Jarrod have something special planned for us.

A giddy smile escaped my lips as the bathroom door opened revealing a cute and manly looking husband.

Like a needy wife, I literally jumped on him, wrapping my legs around his waist and trailing kisses everywhere on his face.

''Are you done?'' Jarrod suddenly asked snapping me out my thoughts.

Despite his annoyance I never let go off him. I wanted him right now, there was no way I would let him ruin the mood. 

''Good morning Jarry'' I seductively whispered while kissing his Adam's apple which always turned him on but surprisingly, he untangled my hands from around his neck and aggressively pushed me off him.

I sighed, giving up on getting it right now.

“So Jarry, tell me, what's wrong?” I asked faking a yawn to show how annoyed I was feeling from his rejection.

He however said nothing in response, instead, he started roaming through the table trying to arrange some set of files.

I ran my hand through my already messy hair. Right. It's work again! Why does his boss keep giving my man a hard time?!

I looked at the annoyed look on his face and felt a little bad. ‘I should be more caring and understanding like my mother-in-law always teaches me’ I repeatedly reminded myself.

I walked to the table and helped Jarrod fix the papers despite his annoyed gaze and hisses.

As soon as i was done, I handed the neatly folded files to Jarrod who snatched it from my hand and didn't even maintain eye contact. How rude can my husband be tonight? I would literally lose my mind if this went on.

"Jarrod are you okay?'' My voice was harsh this time but Jarrod didn't bother to react.

I tried again again not minding my loud voice, ''Jarrod, you've been acting strange since a week ago, what the h*ll is wrong with you? Did one of your side chicks cheat on you again?!”' 

''Why do you care all of the sudden, Bella?'' Jarrod asked, looking at me, anger clear in his eyes.

I smirked, glad I was able to piss him off. I knew Jarrod cheated on me but I stayed not only because of the bull feelings I had for him but because he was financially stable and also.. he was the only family I had.

I remembered the day like the palm of my hands, the day I saw Jarrod in tears. He was crying because one of his side chicks cheated on him but he wouldn't dare say that to my face would he? He lied. He said his boss wanted to fire him. Bulls*it! I knew his boss was Cameron, his best friend who would never fire him without a good reason. Even after finding out his lies, I stayed by his side like a good wife and he had no clue I knew about his escapades. Even if he knew, maybe he just didn't care. 

As I cascaded down the stairs, all the attention was on me, it wasn't something out of the ordinary though. I always dolled up whenever necessary. My mother in -law, Danielle walked towards me and gave me a hug and I smiled. Her hugs were the best thing about her.

         “ Happy birthday, dear.”

         “Thank you” I nodded politely.

I pulled away from the hug after seeing a few familiar faces from the university. I quickly excused myself to attend to them. They were the best! They all got me something expensive like an expensive red dress, black heels to match, Gucci bags!

“Omg! Thank you so much guys” I squealed hugging all of them but despite the fact that I was enjoying their company, my eyes still searched the living room for Jarrod. I hadn't seen him since he left our room angrily this morning.

I missed him already and all I wanted right now was to be in his arms. Just two months ago, we planned to have so much fun tonight and not let work interfere but he wasn't even here.

Disturbed, I quickly excused myself to look for Jarrod. Luckily, I found him in the garden with my best friend, Kelly. I immediately felt at ease seeing the both of them.

‘’Jarrod’’ I called rushing to where he was. After seeing that he it was really him, I jumped on him, hugging him tightly. However, his body was still stiff and rigid making me pout. Was he still angry?

“Honey-”

Before I could ask my question though, Jarrod pushed me away from him that I even landed my butt on the ground. When attempting to get up, I scratched my left knee on a small stone I didn't quickly notice in front of me.

A small hiss escaped my lips and I looked up to face Jarrod who didn't even look a bit bothered that I had hurt myself.

What was going on with him? Now I was really getting sick of this man! I got off the ground, ignoring my bleeding knee. 

What happened to make him so annoying and angry. I was going to find out right now. Enough hiding!
