”My apologies for being late!”

The door to the meeting room of Thompson Pharmaceutical Group was suddenly opened. Sean Young walked, dressed head to toe in a white cowboy outfit.

The members of the Thompson family fully occupied the meeting room. All of them had peculiar looks on their faces when they noticed the poorly-dressed Sean entrance.

“Bold of you to return, Sean Young. It’s been five whole years and yet you’ve produced absolutely no results in your career! I think the company’s just paying you to not do anything. What on Earth did the Thompson family do to deserve a parasite like you?”

The general manager, Houston Thompson’s, voice instantly filled the room the moment Sean walked in. The entire room’s atmosphere felt menacingly threatening.

Sean’s expression remained unchanged against Houston’s wrath. He had long since gotten used to such aggression. In his five years with the company, Houston would often seize any opportunity he could to mock Sean.

Five years ago, Old Master Thompson’s influence was powerful enough to allow Sean to marry the prime beauty of the Great Central Land, Maisie Thompson.

However, Sean had become a laughing stock since he contributed nothing in the five years he was with the Thompson family.

An honest-looking woman dressed in a formal office wear strode over to Sean when she noticed him walk into the meeting room. She raised her brows and coldly exclaimed, “Who gave you permission to come in?”

That was the foremost beauty of the Great Central Land: Maisie Thompson. She was also Sean’s wife, but solely on paper.

Sean awkwardly scratched his head when he felt her cold menacing aura. He said, “Did I come to the wrong place, Maisie?”

Today happened to be the conclusion of the Thompson Family Summit. Every single employee of the company had to be present.

“Sean, are you trying to make me look bad?” While Maisie stared at Sean’s completely confused look, tears almost fell from her eyes.

Five years ago, her grandfather suddenly made her marry Sean. Maisie was completely caught off guard by the sudden news and she felt like her flowery youth had been wasted on a piece of garbage.

Maisie’s complicated feelings toward Sean did not abate over the five years they spent together.

That was because Sean obeyed Maisie’s every command. He never tested her boundaries and did all of the house chores without protest. He also always prepared a pail of water to wash Maisie feet and gave her back massages when she returned from work.

She did not hate Sean; she could not bring herself to.

If Sean was to pay full attention to actually learning their craft, their family would not be reduced to such a major laughing stock.

However, today happened to be the conclusion of the Thompson Family Summit. Would Sean’s presence and his absence of results be a complete embarrassment to her? The more Maisie thought about it, the more guilty she felt.

Upon noticing Sean’s silence, Houston mocked, “Maisie, your useless husband, Sean, has been in Thompson Pharmaceutical Group for five whole years and he’s contributed nothing. What on Earth are you doing as marketing director?”

“Sean’s complete submissive behavior toward his wife is known throughout all of the Great Central Land. His entire living solely depends on his wife, so how could he produce any notable results? I should’ve run him over long ago!”

“Right! This trash is our family’s greatest embarrassment. I have truly contracted eight lifetime's worth of bad luck just being in the same family as him!”

A number of members from the Thompson family stared at Sean scornfully.

Maisie said with a frown, “Houston, I’m not arguing with you since today happens to be the Thompson Family Summit, so don’t cross the line!”

Maisie had never gotten along with Houston. Whenever Houston mocked Sean, he also indirectly mocked Maisie. Although she was disappointed in Sean, she could not bear to watch Houston so blatantly mock him.

Plenty of the Thompson family members had bitter looks on their faces when they noticed Maisie actually standing up for Sean.

Even Sean felt extremely surprised. This was the first time Maise had ever spoken up for him in five years.

Houston furiously barked after hearing what Maisie said “What’s the meaning of this, Maisie? Are you really going to challenge me?”

Everyone knew that Houston and Maisie were the most capable and youngest members of the Thompson family. Houston wanted nothing more but to completely destroy Maisie so he could inherit the position of being the head of the family.

“Enough, Houston!” Maisie furiously yelled at him.

Sean felt incredibly guilty upon watching the scene unfold. It was all because of his presence in the Thompson family Maisie suffered so much pain and shame over the past five years.

One could say that Maisie had lived an agonizingly difficult life since her marriage to Sean.

After noticing Maisie was still defending Sean, Houston added, “Maisie, what does this family mean to you? Do you take our family as a tool for Sean to feed on like a parasite?”

Houston then turned to Sean with an odd look. He said, “You’re a living jinx. You reek of misfortune. If it wasn’t for you, the Thompson family would not be subject to so much ridicule. We might’ve become a first-class family. You contributed nothing in the last five years. If I were you, I’d bury myself deep in any crack I can find to hide my shame.”

“Really?” Sean laughed, shaking his head.

Sean had endured shame and torture by his stepbrother six years ago. His stepbrother manipulated his family’s Grand-Elder and had Sean exiled from the Young family. Those memories were still fresh in Sean’s mind.

However, it was in Sean’s lowest moment, he ran into an elderly man. The elderly man realized his potential and talent and had decided to accept him as his disciple. The old man’s influence was vast and powerful, and so he made Sean the son-in-law to the Thompson family.

No one knew that elderly man happened to be the true master of the Peerless Dragon.

Aside from the Supreme Leader of the Peerless Dragon organization, there were also the Four Great Elders and all kinds of different world-class powerhouses. The Emperor of South American Martial Arts would often mingle there.

The Supreme Leader tested Sean six years ago and he had spent a year studying under his teachings. Then, he got married for five more years. The Supreme Leader warned Sean to never expose his identity, nor request any resources from the Peerless Dragon. He needed to strengthen his heart.

Houston grew incredibly furious after Sean talked back at him. “Are you serious? You useless piece of garbage!”

A man barged in the moment he finished saying that. “Manager, sir. Moses Langston of the Langston family from the Great Eastern Land is here!”

“Moses Langston?” Houston’s expression turned bitter.

The Langston family was the most major family in all of the Great Eastern Land. With just a wave of their hand, they could completely uproot the Thompson family in under an hour. Why did such a powerhouse drop by?

“Hurry, welcome Mr. Langston in!” Houston exclaimed.

Not only could not cross such a powerhouse, the entire Thompson family could not afford to show the man any disrespect.

An elegant man appeared before the meeting room: Moses Langston of the most powerful family in all of the Great Eastern Land.

Houston frantically came forward to greet him, “Pardon me, but what is Mr. Langston’s purpose of gracing us with your presence today?”

“I had an encounter with Sean Young, a member of your family. In that meeting, he made me feel like I had been reunited with a long lost friend. This here is a business contract worth thirty million!” Moses slid that contract across the table.

“What!!”

Sean’s long lost friend?

This… How was this possible?

In that instant, every single member of the Thompson family was completely shocked.

Sean also received a text at the same moment.

“Your majesty, your test is over. Congratulations on becoming our new Supreme Leader. Your bank account has been reactivated and funds worth billions from the Peerless Dragon has been transferred to your account. You are free to use it whenever you please!”
