"I don't wanna go to high school, I am suppose to be done with that. I need a University" I was arguing with my Dad after hearing I had to go through another year of high school.
"You don't have a choice, you need to go through the American curriculum for a year before you go to the University" he said.I am so angry, if I knew my way around I'd storm off.
"Okay, I heard you" I told him, then I went to my room.I take out my phone and opened my WhatsApp. I had lots of messages. It wasn't unusual since I had lots of friends. And a few fans (not bragging, just saying) I saw a message from Dave.
Dave: Hey, KB what's up? Sorry I wasn't able to say good bye before you left yesterday. I has some errands to run.Korede: I dey o. No wahala. So whats happening??Dave: Just the usual o, eating, work and what notKorede: Lol, this boy ehn. Na wa for youDave: Can you sending me Jasmine's number?Korede: Why??Dave: Just to be chatting her nowKorede: You are hitting on her ba ??Dave: No?! Why would you think that?!Korede: Because... Ya'll are always flirting.Dave: Toh, maybe I like her. But I wouldn't date her if it made you uncomfortable. Plus she might not feel the same way.Korede: Lol. I have to go so talk to you later.Korede: Bye.After like an hour of replying WhatsApp messages, I go through Instagram and Twitter and then go to do other things.
As I was about to go attend to other things, I saw her again. Miss gorgeous. I call her that since I don't know her name.
She was looking at me and being the confident dude I am..."Hi, I am Korede Bello. KB for shorts" I said to her"Hey, I am Emma Wilde" she said"So... Just wanted to say hi" I said"You're not from around here, are you?""No, I am from Nigeria. My dad got relocated to the US""Oh, cool. Well if you ever need someone to show you around. I will gladly do so" she said and smiled. Gosh! Her smile is amazing."Well, are you free right now?" I asked her"Yeah! Sure.""Can you show me around now?" I asked her. Half hoping she'd decline"Yes, I would love to. Just need to get my jacket and I will be down""Okay. Awesome.""So how long have you been in the US for??" Emma asked. We were currently at Central Perk a coffee shop.
"I don't know really. My dad is thinking of relocating here permanently." I said"Oh, that's cool""Really?" I asked totally confused by here excitement"Well then I'll have a friend that's from Nigeria" she said and chuckled"So you want to be friends?" I asked and then I realized how stupid the question was"Yes,sure!""Okay then,friends it is" we shook hands playfully and started laughingAs we were talking someone walked up to us"Hey, babe!" He said"Oh, hi Randy" she replies. And then he kissed her as though trying to tell me she's his. I felt totally out of place."Oh, Randy this is my friend Korede Bello" she said "and Korede this is my boyfriend Randy Wayne""Hey man" Randy said his"Hi" I said and shook hand"So 'Korede' that is a strange name""I'm from Nigeria, I just got to America a few days ago" I said"Oh, really?" He asked as though testing the information"Yeah, my Dad got relocated""Oh, that's cool""Yeah, I was just showing KB around the city" Emma says"Then let's continue showing KB around the city" I didn't like the way he stressed the KBAfter and hour of moving around with Randy and Emma , we came back home. Since it was just a fence separating our house.
"So, where have you been?" My mom asked when I walked through the door
"Out. Looking at the city. Trying to get used to the place" I replied totally leaving out the Emma part."Okay, come eat when you are ready." she says."Okay.""What chick did you go out with today??" Ezra says from the door
"How do you know that?" I look up from my computer to look at him"I saw you at the gate""Her name's Emma. She's our neighbor.I said in a "before you jump any conclusions" tone"Really? And you don't like her at all""No, she has a boyfriend" I tell him. And gives him the look that says "that's all"."Okay o" he said "but I know you like her" he added"How would you know that?" I asked"I know you." He says and then walks away.
