Fatherly Demon - Part One
Author: Katrina KaaloaEldrid opened the door to his left and waited outside the limo holding the door open for Vastria. Vastria gradually made her way to the door in silence. Eldrid offered his hand to Vastria to aid her out the limo. She stared at his hand for a moment then to his face before deciding to take his hand as she departed the limo. As Vastria departed from the limo, she took a good look around the area. The sun was peaking behind the clouds and the branches of the trees. She realized that they are in a clearing surrounded by the forest. In the center of the clearing was a mansion. The white paint glistening in the little light of the glowing sun. The pillars of the front stood tall and straight as if it guards the place with its might. Between two pillars leading to the front door are stairs made of pavement. Each side of the mansion held six large picture windows covered with what it seemed to be white curtains. The building itself stood 3 stories high with an ordinary rectangular look. Vastria was led by Eldrid to the entrance of the mansion. Vastria noticed that no lights were on inside.
Once they reach the steps, the front porch lit up. Then other lights within the mansion lit up one by one. The door opened as we near it. On the other side stood another man dressed as Eldrid were, but this man was taller with a long face and clean short cut hair that was slicked back. With a curt nod from the taller man, Eldrid led Vastria into the mansion. It was another demon butler allowing us to enter the mansion. Vastria followed Eldrid into the mansion, but starting to feel nervous, she started to feel that maybe this was not a good idea and stopped just before the opened door.
“Lady Vastria?” Eldrid looked to Vastria with concern studying her expressions as she seemed to have furrowed her brows.
Vastria ignored him and stared ahead of the opened door into the mansion, her heart beating in her head with nervousness. After some time, with a sigh, and a shook of her body with a more rapid heartbeat, she passed through the threshold following Eldrid.
Inside the mansion seemed to be massive than how it looked from the outside. The room Vastria entered was big enough to host a huge banquet. The room was round almost like a circle or an oval. The floors were tiled with white marble, six pillars within the room were smoothed white and black marble. In the center of the room was stairs leading up to the second floor with a large picture window looking outward towards the back of the mansion. Looking up to the second floor, it has a surround porch like look looking out to the ground floor. Looking to either side of this round room lead down in wide corridors with love seats on either side of the corridor entrances. To the right corridor seemed to end to the dining room as far as Vastria could see. To the left, the corridor curved to the right out of sight with a door at the end just before it curved. Behind the stairs lead into a wider corridor with columns lining the center down to a glass view of the back garden, but no visible door leading to the garden that way. Within this corridor were doors, four on each side leading to additional rooms, but these doors were closed.
Vastria took in the atmosphere of the room. She marveled at the scenery of the room. The only people in the room was Vastria and Eldrid. The man that allowed us to enter after closing the front door disappeared behind the stairs leaving silence in the room. She stood there silently waiting anxiously, not sure what to do or expect. She looked down at herself still covered in dried blood. Crusted, flaky blood along her arms, face and neck. She wanted to shower so badly, to erase conclusive proof of what she experienced. She took a deep breath hoping to calm her anxious shaking body as she hugged herself feeling the crusted, dried blood flake off her arms a bit. Luckily, she wore black which hid majority of the blood, but she knew her clothes were completely drenched in the blood that is now dried. Few moments passed as Vastria realized eyes on her. She looked up to find Eldrid staring at her and did not know how long he had been staring silently. She turned away from him to look down the dining room hoping he realize she did not find it comforting to be watched as such.
It was then that Vastria heard footsteps coming from the hallway behind the stairs. She turned to try and see who was coming. Emerged from the left corner of the stairs was a man in a noble attire, a grey suit with a navy-blue tie far different than the tuxedo Eldrid and the man from the door wore. The man was an elderly man with greying hair, short cut and not greased back.
As Vastria and Eldrid await in the center of the room, the man walked briskly towards them with a big smile and his hands clasped together in front of him. The man’s pace grew faster as he neared them. Pushing past Eldrid pulling Vastria in a warm embrace.
"My dear Vastria. Oh, how long I've waited this moment to finally see you, my daughter." He spoke as he embraced Vastria not caring that he is getting his suit dirty from the blood.
Vastria stiffened as she was embraced unable to say anything. This is my father? She asked herself.
She pulled out of his embrace to ask uneasily, "So you are my father?" She looked him up and down then studies his face. His face did not seem to determine any such age. He had no wrinkles. The only significance was his greying hair that expressed he was older than most would think. Vastria thought to herself about her mother. This man before her claims to be her father, but, yet he looked to be far younger than the mother that raised her, maybe by ten years. She was not sure.
"Yes, I am, my dear daughter. It has been far too long. I have been searching for you for so many years since you disappeared as a baby." He steps back motioning for her to follow to the stairs. "You must be tired and need to get out of those filthy clothing. Please come to your room I have set up for you. After you have settled, I will answer all questions you have for me. I know you must be skeptical about what you have recently learned, but please be patient."
"What do you mean I has disappeared as a baby? I was always with my mother." Vastria questioned as she followed him up the stairs. She was confused as to why he is saying she disappeared.
"The exact answer to that is you were taken and hidden away from me after you were born, Vastria. Come now get comfortable and I will explain."
Vastria followed with Eldrid walking behind her. They took a turn to the left of the second floor as they got to the top of the stairs. It led to again two corridors on the right and left.
The two corridors looked similar. They took the right corridor and passed three bedrooms and came to a stop at the very end room. Vastria’s father opening the door to the room, “Vastria this is you room, please get settled, you must want to get out of those dirty clothes and rest. I will have the kitchen staff work on dinner as you get settled. Eldrid here will be available to you if you need anything.”
Vastria took a moment to look at herself again remembering the blood. She really did want to get rid of the bloodied clothes she wore. She nodded silently as they entered her new room. Her father smiling in hopes his daughter can accept this new fortuity of a new life and home with a father she never knew.
The room they entered was enormous. A California king bed fixed with rose red pure satin sheets covered in mounds of pillows at the far side of the room. In front of Vastria, her father, and Eldrid was a couch and coffee table. Across the bed was a desk and chair. This room was like a hotel suite. A door to the right led into the bathroom. Four large windows overlooked the back garden of the mansion. Vastria looked around the room as the two guys awaited her approval. The curtains were white touching the floor.
Vastria took a few steps to look out the window. She then sighs and turns to look at her father and Eldrid studying their faces. “Okay, so much has happened, and I just cannot wrap my head around all of this. I cannot even tell if this is even real to begin with.” She points to Eldrid. “I am grateful that you technically saved me from those… creatures.” She then points to her “father”, “You say you are my father and I am supposed to accept that. This is way too much for me to handle. I want to go home. Take me home now.” She starts to the door of the room but Eldrid had moved to block the exit stopping Vastria in her tracks.
“My daughter, this is your home now. I know this is a lot to take in. We cannot let you leave because it is not safe for you. The best thing for you now is to stay. I can explain everything you want to know. Please just give me the chance to. I do not want to lose you again. It has been twenty-two years. Please stay.” Her father begs for Vastria to stay.
She studies his face as he pleaded with her. She took a moment realizing they were right. Those creatures would still be after her for what happened at that decrepit building, she had to fight her way out. She decided, “Okay. I will stay. It feels as though I do not have a choice anyways. And… I do have questions that needs answering.”
Her father smiled at her response. “My dear daughter I am so glad you have decided to stay. I will not allow any harm to you from those pesky vampires. I will deal with that matter for you.” With that, her father left the room leaving Eldrid with Vastria.
“Lady Vastria, your father is overjoyed that you are here. He would most definitely do anything in his power to deal with the vampire issue. You have nothing to worry about.” He walked to the nearby dresser taking clothes out and laying them on the bed. “Would you like to me to start a bath for you?” He looked to Vastria.
“I think I want to be alone.” Vastria was looking to the floor thinking. Eldrid nodded leaving the room closing the door behind him.
