8. A shame we didn't meet earlier

Ariana's p.o.v

I woke up early and took a bath then went downstairs, today I wanted only to focus on work, I walked in the dinning room and found everyone drinking tea, I sat next to Pete with a smile. 

"Morning" I greeted. 

"Morning" he answered back. 

"Sorry but who is she?" Karen asked while staring at me. 

"She's an architecture working on the construction here" king answered without looking at me. 

The maid walked in and began serving us. 

"After breakfast I'm going to the lake, Ariana do you want to join me?" Pete asked with a smile. 

Yesterday king made everything clear to me, I was only a challenge, nothing more, Pete was ten times better than him. 

"Sure, today I have less work anyway" I answered. 

King looked at me then drunk his tea. 

"King, today weren't you suppose to go with me and talk to my father about our companies partnering up?" Karen asked while pouting like a little girl. 

"I'm sorry Karen, today I will be busy" he answered simply. 

"But that's what you said last week too?" She said loudly. 

"Because I was busy!, What the hell was I to say?" He asked loudly. 

"I won't tolerate such behavior king" she answered angrily. 

"Really?, Karen the fact that I respect you is because we are childhood friends, if you want to throw a stupid childish tantrum here, then please leave my house" he said seriously. 

"I don't want to go" she answered in a low tone. 

"Good then behave" he said. 

Pete stood up after finishing his tea and went outside, I finished drinking my tea too and followed him, I found him waiting for me in his car. 

"Jump in" he said as I smiled then got in, he turned on the radio and drove out of the place. 

"You know, our house is near the lake" he said after some minutes passed by. 

"Like how near?" I asked. 

"Like we are here near" he answered as he parked the car a bit far from the lake. 

"What the hell, I can even come here by foot" I said with a wide smile. 

"I know, but we are just here because this is the route to our secret island miss captain" he answered while he came out of the car. 

"Uhhh captain Pete, I'm looking forward to this adventure" I joked as I came out too and closed the door. 

I looked at the speed boat happily. 

"I know you want to go in, just go" he said as I moved closer and carefully got in. 

I touched the staring wheel admiring the black thick leather that was there when I heard a chuckle. 

"Captain lets sail the sea" I said happily. 

"Sure my lady but this is not a sea but a lake" king answered. 

I quickly turned and looked at him, he was putting on a black short and a dark blue T - shirt that matched his eyes. 

"What are you doing here?, And where's Pete?" I asked loudly. 

"Pete has gone back to handle something, I will be the one taking you there" he said. 

"Then I won't go anywhere" I answered as I walked past him. 

He caught my hand quickly. 

"Ariana don't act like a child" he said as I turned in anger and slapped him hard. 

He looked at me in shock. 

"I might be many things but never your toy asshole" I yelled as I lifted my leg and hit him between his legs, he groaned in pain and knelt down on his knees. 

"Fucking asshole" I whispered then stepped out of the boat. 

"Ariana!" He called loudly, I turned and looked at him. 

"If you dare to leave I'm canceling the contract" he said as I gasped. 

"You wouldn't dare" I whispered. 

"Try me" he answered. 

I really worked hard just to get such a contract which was rarely passed on to me by my boss, I really needed the money, and to supervise such a construction proved that I was more than capable of handling my work. 

I walked back on the boat and sat down quietly. 

"Good" king said as he stood up with wobbly legs and touched the wheel. 

A while ago I could have laughed seeing him like this, but right now, I was filled with anger, laughing was just a waste of time. 

I wasn't up for entertaining a fool. 

When the boat began to move, I looked at the lake admiring how the sun rays looked like on water. 

"I know I was a jerk yesterday for yelling at you, i rarely yell at any lady, I just don't know what came over me, I'm really sorry" he said loudly, I kept quiet ignoring him. 

"Hey at least look at me, Ariana this is not a trick, I really I'm sorry, and am also sorry for using the contract to threaten you" he said as i looked at him in silence. 

"How is my office coming up?" He asked. 

He just couldn't let me be, now he wanted to use work to make me talk, sadly I had no choice but to answer since it was about work. 

"Its coming up nicely, very soon we will finish it and start with the library then the garden" I answered. 

"And how is the crew?, Any challenges?" He asked. 

"There are no challenges, the crew is very hard working and helpful" I answered simply. 

"You know I love reading?, I have always wanted to have a library of my own ever since i was a young boy, you could say I was a nerd bookworm with a handsome face and nice body, at first sight people thought of me as a cool guy when they got to know my personality they ran away saying my personality was weak, nerdy and like a girls" he said as I looked away. 

"Its a shame we were never in the same town, people who judge others are much worse than the person they are judging" I answered seriously. 

"It really is a shame that we didn't meet when I was younger" he said then kept quiet.
