Chapter 11 Shameless

There was a saying, ‘being thick-skinned can bring you anywhere’. Tyler had finally witnessed it.

Graham was extremely delighted to notice the admiration in Ramona and Susan’s eyes.

He boasted to make himself look better in front of the beautiful Ramona and seemed like it worked.

“Graham, you must introduce us to Mr. Zand,” urged Susan hopefully.

“Don’t worry, Aunt Susan. Leave that to me!” Graham looked at Ramona again and found that she was also looking forward to seeing Mr. Zand.

“That’s great! Mr. Zand is our savior. We must thank him personally.” Susan was delighted. She then glared at Tyler and instructed, “Stop cooking, we’ll eat out today.”

“Okay,” replied Tyler.

“Susan, your son-in-law is so obedient. That’s good,” said Jeremy with slight disdain. He had always looked upon adopted sons-in-law as a spineless man.

“Quit making fun of me, Jeremy. Let’s go eat.” Susan diverted the topic and urged everyone out.

Tyler wanted to eat at home and did not want to join, hence he did not follow them.

“Move.” Ramona glared at Tyler impatiently and was disappointed in how he was never the one leading.

“Ramona, you guys go ahead. I’ll eat at home,” replied Tyler.

“Can you be a bit more cooperative? There are guests in our house and you don’t want to spend time with them. Do you not welcome them? How would they think of you?” Ramona was slightly angered by his reply.

“Alright, I’ll go.” Tyler helplessly joined for the meal.

Looking at his unwillingness, Ramona was even more angered and just dashed to the front of the crowd.

They arrived downstairs when Susan pointed to a small restaurant across the street. “This restaurant serves very good Sichuan dishes. Let’s eat here.”

Suzette and Jeremy were obviously displeased.

The restaurant was small and its entrance was tiny. Eating in there would make them feel cheap.

Tiffany observed her parents’ reaction and suggested, “Aunt Susan, this is a shabby restaurant. How about we go to Faircreek Seafood Restaurant? It's a high-class restaurant that serves amazing seafood. Did I mention that they have a really amazing ambiance too?”

Susan was embarrassed by this.

She would have to pay for the bill since she was the host, but seafood restaurant…was not what she could afford. The cheapest dish could easily cost a few thousand bucks!

Susan knew very well that her financial situation did not allow such lavish spending, but could not say no as that would be very shameful!

They soon arrived at the Faircreek Seafood Restaurant.

This restaurant was bought by Tyler and given to his younger sister, Leonara. Tyler was happy to see how crowded the restaurant was.

Once they got a table, Susan ordered some of the cheapest dishes on the menu. Even so, she was already quite upset as the bill would come up to 2,000 bucks.

“Aunt Susan, these are cheap dishes. How can we eat these? So low-class…” Tiffany complained and instructed the waitress, “Cancel everything and give us the most expensive dish from your restaurant.”

“Alright, madam. The most expensive set in our restaurant is the Golden Seafood Set. Would you like the whole set?” asked the waitress politely.

“Duh, we want everything,” answered Tiffany while casually touching up her make-up.

The waitress left after taking notes.

Susan could not be more bothered and silently cursed Tiffany, ‘What’s the meaning of this?’

Ramona was also worried about her mother as they could not afford it.

Tyler, on the other hand, was calm. He owned this restaurant, hence Tiffany could eat all they wanted.

“Susan, it’s important for all of us to enjoy the meal, don’t be too calculative. Besides, my son-in-law is around. We won't let you pay,” Suzette told Susan as she looked at Graham.

This did not make Susan feel any better. In fact, she was more irritated with her useless son-in-law who remained silent the whole time.

If Tyler was any better, he could have saved their family from such insults.

Susan looked at Tyler as if he was a disgrace before looking at Suzette. “Sis, you’re our guests here. Besides, it’s the first time Graham visited. We can’t let him pay.”

“Fret not, fret not. Graham earns 200,000 yearly. It’s a piece of cake,” Tiffany proudly claimed while celebrating her partner’s success in comparison to Ramona’s useless husband.

“That’s right, Aunt Susan. Just enjoy the meal. This is really nothing.” Graham chimed in by flaunting his wealth.

At this point, Susan just wanted to bury her head in sand. She was really jealous of Suzette for having such a successful future son-in-law. Tyler was nothing when compared to Graham.

“Look at him and look at yourself. You better go get a job tomorrow,” exclaimed Susan.

Ramona's face reddened from embarrassment as she had not expected her mother to insult Tyler in public like that. Tyler was her husband and insulting Tyler would mean insulting her too.

Suzette and Jeremy, on the other hand, laughed while Tiffany and Graham were ecstatic from feeling superior above the rest.

Tyler still appeared very calm when he answered Susan, “Mom, there are many people who work for me. I don’t have to work.”

Susan was enraged. “What? You’re becoming more and more thick-skinned, aren’t you? When you meant there are many who work for you, do you mean Ramona? Well, you’re right in that case. She’s been keeping your useless *ss alive!”

“Sigh, this isn’t what I mea—”

“This IS what you mean. Who else would work under your lousy *ss? Who do you think you are? A boss?” Susan was so angry that she interjected Tyler.

He knew he could never win a quarrel with Susan. Therefore, he was actually regretful that he spoke up earlier.

“Calm down, Susan. It’s just a job. Graham can take care of that. He’s the Project Manager of the water park. I’m sure he can arrange some miscellaneous tasks for Tyler. It won’t be a burden,” advised Suzette.

“Yea, that shouldn’t be a problem,” Jeremy chimed in.

Those words further inflated Graham’s ego and he tapped on Tyler’s shoulder. “Don’t worry, Tyler. Come to me anytime you want a job, I can arrange something of less hard labor for you. What do you say about that?”

Tyler speechlessly looked at Graham’s arrogantly disgusting face.

‘Arrange my foot, you idiot. One word from me and you’ll have to scram. What kind of hero are you trying to act now?’

“I don’t think that’s necessary, but you should watch out for yourself in case you get laid off.” Tyler only smiled.

Graham had not expected such responses from Tyler and was so angry that his liver started hurting. ‘Are you f*cking cursing my job?’

Tiffany was also enraged. She glared at Tyler and scolded, “Tyler Zand, know your place. Hammy offered out of good intentions so that you can earn some money. How could you curse him?”

Tyler smiled as he was too lazy to entertain her argument.

“Tiffy, Hammy, we don’t have to quarrel with people like them. Quick, start eating,” Suzette consoled them both.

“That’s right. Nothing to quarrel about, we’re a family,” agreed Jeremy.

The Golden Seafood Set was indeed outstanding when compared with other dishes on the table. Those ingredients seemed exotic. As they dug into the delicious food, Tiffany and Graham had suddenly forgotten about the argument. They looked simply uncouth once they started eating.

“What is this called? It’s delicious!” Tiffany asked as she ate.

The waitress quickly introduced, “ This is goose barnacle, one of the most expensive dishes in our restaurant.”

“Marvelous! Please get us another ten plates of this.” Graham waved and pridefully instructed.

“As you wish, sir.” The waitress quickly took the order.

“Tiffany, we can’t finish ten plates of those, let’s cancel it.” Ramona tried to smile and failed to hide the frown on her face.

“Hehe. That’s no bother. If we can’t finish it, just leave it behind. Graham can afford such trivial expense, unlike some poor *ass. Hmph.” Tiffany glared at Tyler.

Ramona noticed it and nudged Tyler not to be bothered by Tiffany.

It did not bother Tyler at all. He would not stoop so low as to argue with such a petty woman and only cared about enjoying the food.

“I bet you haven’t had such delicious food in your life, aye? Eat slowly, don’t choke. Make sure you eat enough. Anyways, Hammy is paying,” teased Tiffany.

‘Hammy is going to pay? Can he even afford it? How shameless.’ Tyler could only laugh at their foolishness. No one knew goose barnacle better than him. He knew exactly how expensive this item was.
