"I promise you when this war is over, I'm going to give us a grand wedding. One that will shock the entire world." My lover, Jonathan promised as he used his hands to exaggerate how grand our wedding will be.

"I don't need a wedding, I already have a mark. I just need you to come home no matter what." I said as I held my alpha's hand who smiled at me and kissed my lips.

"Of course, I wouldn't want to miss the birth of our little guy." Jon said as he placed his hand on my flat stomach as I cried but his hug assured me.

"Love please don't cry. I'll be home before you notice."

"Your not gone and I already miss you."

"I'm doing this to protect you and our baby. It must be the pregnancy hormone getting to you." He joked as I sniffled and cleaned my eyes then smiled.

"Must be. Promise me you'll write every time you get the chance to." I requested as I held his hand to my chest, his arms wrapping around me.

"Alpha's honour." He saluted playfully before we heard the announcer announcing the readiness to depart.

I watched as Jon picked up his luggage with a confident smile on his face. He was trying to be strong for the both of us and I felt bad because him seeing me cry made him feel bad about leaving, it scorned him. It hurt watching my mate of three weeks entering that ship that would decide the fate of the whole world as well as ours.

The war between Nations came out of nowhere and it has been affecting all the continents. It was a miracle how Jon was able to bring me to America with the intensity of war in Japan.

We've been dating for three years and when I got pregnant that was when we decided to bond, for baby's sake and our own.

Three weeks after the bonding, Jon got a letter telling him that his services were needed in the military.

A lot of people had gotten the letter and if I wasn't pregnant, I'm sure I would have been on the list.

This war wasn't a matter of if you were an alpha, beta or omega. It didn't matter if you were male or female, all that mattered was if you were ready to kill or be killed.

"I love you!" Jon shouted as he waved his cap at me while I waved my hands at him, my heart bleeding in emotional pain as I watched him disappear from sight.

"I love you too!" I cried as I cleaned my eyes, watching the boat till it disappeared.

My only regret was I never told Jon how much he meant to me because...that would be the last time I will ever see him in flesh.

I was five months in my pregnancy when I heard the war was over. A war that had been going on for more than eighteen years that had claimed my family's life when I was five as well as millions.

I was so excited to have Jon coming home that I even prepared a small party for him.

The sound of the knock on the door made me smile with joy as I rubbed my baby bump that had grown over the months.

"Yay! Daddy's home." I said to my baby boy who was probably sleeping inside me. I walked in to the door, rearranging my hair to look a lot more presentable before I opened the door.

My smile fell when I saw two men, a beta and an omega in their uniform with their caps to their chest as I searched for Jon.

"Can I help you with anything sirs?" I asked as my eyes kept searching around for Jon.

"Are you Sora Michaelson?" The beta asked as I nodded while I cupped my belly.

Their eyes went to my stomach and I saw a flash of pain and guilt on their faces that had my body trembling with fear and anxiety.

"My name is Kevin and this is Axel and we were friends of your husband." The beta introduced and I shook their hands.

"What do you mean were? Surely you meant are?" I asked as my heart started beating fast and the omega broke into tears as my breath hitched.

"Lieutenant Michaelson was a very brave soldier. He served his country well and he died on the final day on the battlefield protecting his comrades and superior in battle. He was a hero and will be given a befitting burial. The burial of a hero." Kevin said and that moment, it felt like the world had simply stopped existing.

Jon was dead?

Jon was never coming home into my arms but in a casket to the ground?

I couldn't hear what was happening but I heard someone asking to call the ambulance as I laid supported in someone's arms, holding me tight as the feeling of death consumed me.

If Jon was dead then I had no more reason to live. Jon was everything to me and now his gone.

Ren I'm sure you'd love to see papa. Let's go join him so please don't hate me for going with you.

These were my last thoughts before tears slipped down my eyes and I gave up consciousness.
