Chapter 6 Make Sure Nothing Goes Wrong

Kiki opened the box under his eager gaze. Inside the box was a small bottle of perfume.

"I don't know what young girls like you fancy, so I just bought this. Kiki, try smelling it and see if you like it." His eyes darted as he spoke.

Kiki felt a pang of sadness. She opened the lid of perfume and smelled a bizarre fragrance, followed by a sense of dizziness.

"Sure enough, it was a lie..." She smiled wryly.

Everything in front of her started to get blurry. Before she fainted, she heard Old Mr. Gregg apologetically saying, "I'm sorry, Kiki, but for this matter, we have to make sure that nothing goes wrong..."

"Oh, you have to make sure nothing goes wrong? So is that why you lied to me about being sick, to trick me into coming back?"

Kiki only felt her heart shattering to pieces. Old Mr. Gregg was the only one in the Gregg Family whom she had affection for, but now, that last bit of affection was gone as well.

After God knows how long, Kiki rubbed her head, which throbbed faintly, and looked at her surroundings blankly.

"Where is this place?"

The place was pitch black and emanated a suffocating musty smell.

Her pupils constricted all of a sudden. "Is this the Gregg Family's warehouse?"

Fear began to spread endlessly in her heart. She hugged herself tightly and helplessly.

She had claustrophobia...

Her memory flashed back to the year when she was eight.

No matter how much she apologized and acknowledged her mistakes, her father, Samuel, still locked her in the closet.

In that narrow and pitch-dark space, she cried and shouted incessantly, knocking on the closet doors with all her might and begging them to let her out.

Her voice went hoarse from crying and she lost all strength in her body, but no one came to save her.

She was locked up for the entire day and night.

Just when she was wondering if she would just die like that, she suddenly heard a familiar voice.

It was her mother, Sky Morris, and her aunt, Snow Morris.

"This wretched girl sure is lucky, she actually came back alive!"

"Sky, don't worry. You still have plenty of chances in the future..."

At the age of eight, Kiki understood for the first time what heart-wrenching despair felt like.

She never knew what she did wrong. It turned out... her biggest mistake was that she did not die as they had hoped?

She always knew that she was not well-liked by her entire family. Their dislike was so deep-rooted to the point that she was wrong no matter what she did. It turned out that she had made a mistake. They did not dislike her; they wished for her to die.

Young Kiki felt her heart shatter into pieces. Her feeble body felt waves of needle-stabbing pain, as if like countless monsters were nibbling at her flesh...

"Why are they treating me like this?" Kiki's eyes felt hot.

The indistinct objects in the warehouse seemed to be extending longer and longer, and each object slowly turned into a malevolent monster that pounced at her with gaping jaws!

"Ah...! Let me out! Let me out!" she shrieked pitifully. The next moment, she struggled to wave her arms and push aside everything that was in front of her!

She wanted to escape from this place. She had to escape from this terrifying place!

All of a sudden, a faint spark flickered on the ground. Kiki, who had already descended into madness, did not notice it until the spark grew into a flame, and the fire grew bigger and bigger...

A Maybach stopped steadily at the Gregg Family's yard. Samuel rushed to open the car door in an almost humble manner.

"Mr. Smith, welcome, what an honor!" He nervously rubbed his hands and had a fawning smile on his face. Sky and June, who stood beside him, were equally nervous. If it weren't for Old Mr. An, who was adamant about choosing Kiki, they wouldn't have to come up with this idea!

Morgan extended his long legs and got out of the car.

His gaze fell upon June and his eyes went slightly cold.
