Nathaniel’s Obsession

Nathaniel pulled up the hospital. He went to the hospital a good distance from the house because it was bigger and they seemed to have more qualified doctors here. He needed Chanel to be in perfect health. He got down from his car and made his way into the hospital through the emergency room doors. Let’s see how this plays out, he thought to himself.

“Hey. Let go of me.” The dark-haired lady in a white coat said when Nathaniel held her forearm.

“I’m sorry—” he began instantly releasing her, he didn’t like the way her skin felt under his palm. “My wife she’s in the car. She won’t get out unless she’s seeing a female doctor. Please, you need to help..” Nathaniel did his best to try to sound distressed.

“Oh my God. Is she fine? Let me get my superior. I’m only an intern here. I—I..” She started her eyes showing her concern.

“No! No! She’s scared. You just need to reassure her to get out of the car. She hates hospitals. I-I just need to do this now,” Nathaniel lied and he knew the moment she agreed she would follow him outside.

“Okay come let’s go. I’ll be right back, Jim,” She shouted before she hurriedly followed the man outside, wondering why he was parked so far away.

She was about to ask where his wife was when they reach his car, but the sight of the gun he held so proudly made her stop.

“Either you get into the car, or I’ll really shoot anyone around that I see,” Nathaniel said, holding the door open for her.

“Wait...I can’t leave, my shift isn’t over. I have things to do. I have—” Nathaniel looked at her as if she was stupid. He was holding a gun and she was thinking about her shift. She didn’t get to finish her sentence before she was roughly shoved into the car.

Nathaniel got into the driver’s seat and began to drive off when she spoke.

“You don’t need to fucking push me. I’m very capable of moving on my own,” She said angrily, once she got her bearing.

“Seems like you have a problem hearing then,” Nathaniel said, wondering why she wasn’t afraid at all.

“You better have a good reason for this because it’s kidnapping. The patient better be dying, because I was about to watch a heart-liver transplant.” She said simply crossing her arms.

“You think this is a joke?” Nathaniel said, almost angrily. He wondered if she was sane enough to be looking out for patients.

“Oh, I know how this goes. I’ve watched a lot of movies, you probably have no insurance or are in trouble with the law and one of you is dying. You need a doctor, simple. I read a lot of books too.” She said almost smiling to herself.

“Well, you’ll see if this was worth your heart-liver transplant,” Nathaniel said before silence enveloped the atmosphere. He could not help the smile that made its way to his face.

Nathaniel wondered where he went wrong. They had been driving for thirty minutes straight and the doctor he picked up from the hospital had been changing the radio station. At first, she asked for his iPod, but when he said he didn’t have one she moved on to the radio station.

“How can you drive with no music?” Rosalyn asked, anytime she drove she needed to have music on. She couldn’t recall a time where she didn’t.

Nathaniel didn’t bother giving her an answer. He was more focused on getting home early. He knew his sister and Chanel were up to no good and he didn’t want to make any mistakes with them. Pedro still has not contacted him and now, he believed that Pedro has been kidnapped. He knew they needed to move fast.

“What?” Nathaniel asked when he noticed how her eyes were just fixed on him. He knew she had something to say.

“You work out a lot eh?” Rosalyn asked. She could tell from his muscles that his workout cycle was not a child’s play. She wondered the strength he possessed.

Nathaniel only shook his head at her. It was obvious now that she couldn’t shut her mouth for a long period of time.

“I work out to relieve stress,” Nathaniel finally said because it was the truth. Usually, when he didn’t feel like going out to fuck a random, he would put his all into a workout session through the night.

“Hmm, good or bad stress?” Rosalyn asked turning to face him.

“Don’t lean against the door,” Nathaniel said authoritatively before he continued, “bad stress maybe,”

“Music helps to relieve stress you know,” Rosalyn said as she stared straight ahead. A memory popped up in her head. She remembered how she used music a few years ago to get over her and Alyssa break up. It had been a sad time for her.

“That’s why you listen to it,” Nathaniel asked wondering why she went quiet all of a sudden.

“Well yeah, it’s helped me a lot,” Rosalyn said. “Are we almost there?”

“Yeah,” Nathaniel answered and he knew that was the end of their conversation.

********

Rosalyn stared at the two women in the room. Nathaniel helped her out of the car and into this room. She wondered just what he went through that made his eyes so dark. She knew there was still a little light hidden in there.

She watched how his eyes darkened even more if that was possible when one of the women asked why he took so long.

“The pregnant one,” Nathaniel said quietly to her. She wouldn’t have heard him if they weren’t standing so close to each other.

“Hi, I’m Doctor Rosalyn. How are you feeling?” Just as Rosalyn asked that question, there were two loud gunshots that had all of them gasping for air.

It happened so fast that if Rosalyn blinked she wouldn’t have seen anything. Nathaniel made to open the door and leave, but he was hit on the head by a very dark looking man and immediately shot in the chest.

A loud gasp left Rosalyn’s lips. It was like she couldn’t hear any other person’s voice. She watched the shock that clouded Nathaniel’s eyes as he sank to the ground. She didn’t miss a beat as she went down with him to apply pressure on his wound.

“Oh my God. Why did you shot him?” Rosalyn cried as tears dropped from her eyes. She had never seen a patient without her resident present. Now she was dealing with a gunshot wound to the chest. She had seen a good amount in the hospital, but she had never actually handled one.

“He deserves it,” that was all she heard the other man say as he left taking the two women with him. He was also kidnapping them.

Rosalyn knew he was still breathing, but he was not speaking to her at all. She was very afraid of taking her hand away from his wound. She needed help. She needed someone to call the ambulance.

“Help! Help!” Rosalyn shouted hoping someone would hear her cries. She didn’t even know the man’s name. She wondered what they were both involved in got someone to just come in here and shoot him.

As if God heard her cries, a man walked into the room holding a gun. Anyone that came in always seemed to be holding guns, she thought to herself.

“What happened here? Where’s my sister?” That was the first thing he said. His eyes scanned the room once again before they landed on her.

“I don’t know. A man just came in, shot him and took the women and the baby away. He’s already lost so much blood,” Rosalyn said with tears clouding her vision.

“I fucking warned him,” Rafael shouted, making Rosalyn jerk.

She regained her senses and spoke to him.

“Get my phone out and call the ambulance,” Rosalyn commanded she didn’t want to think about what would happen if they didn’t have enough time.

“No! You have to get the bullet out of him. He’s not going to make it,” Rafael said quickly running out before he walked back in with a big first aid kit and a bottle of whiskey.

“Oh no! I—I—I can’t...I-I’m new to this,” Rosalyn stammered between her tears.

“Stop fucking crying and help him. If he dies, I’m going to fucking end you,” Rafael said with a hard edge to his voice. He was trying hard, not to watch Nathaniel die after everything.

Under the pressure, Rosalyn realized that there was nothing else she could do. There was no way she was going to let someone die on her. Definitely not right at the start of her career. She had to be in charge right now and do everything to save his life.

“Okay. Okay. Get my phone and call Doctor Hunter,” Rosalyn said cleaning her face with her coat. She was done crying when he took out her phone. She was not going to let this man die on her.

“What’s his name?” Rosalyn asked, looking at what they had in the first aid kit. It was way more loaded than a normal first aid kit.

“Nathaniel,” Rafael said absentmindedly.

“Okay. Nathaniel, I’m going to need you to stay with me. You don’t get to die on me. I’m going to do everything I can to get you back,” Rosalyn said to him. She wasn’t even sure he could hear her.

A gasp left her lips when Nathaniel grabbed her arm tightly.

“I’m not fucking dying. Get the fucking shit out of me, before I actually die,” Nathaniel said his voice was tight and breathy.

Once Doctor Hunter picked up the phone, she told him about her problem and he began giving her instructions. She made an incision around the wound, while Nathaniel hissed as he poured whiskey on his wound. This was the most unsterile work she had ever done in her life. She was going in blind, something that never happened.

In luck Rosalyn found the bullet, it was a very superficial wound and was glad it didn’t go deep to his organs.

“We still need to get him to a hospital. He had already lost a lot of blood..” Rosalyn said as she had already begun sewing up the wound and she tightly wrapped a bandage around his chest. She was sure glad she went to the skills lab last week so her stitches would not leave an ugly scar.

Rafael hung up and looked her dead in the eye.

“No hospital, no one lives this place until I find out what the hell is going on,” Rafael said angrily.

Rafael got on his knees beside his brother, he didn’t care about the blood. He wrapped his hand around Nathaniel’s neck, causing him to groan.

“You better make it out of this so I can kill you for making them take Isobel,” Rafael said slowly as his hand tightened around Nathaniel’s neck.

“Do you want to kill him? I just saved his life,” Rosalyn said shoving Rafael with strength she didn’t know she had.

“Are you—“ Rafael didn’t get a chance to finish before Rosalyn started again.

“The only way he is going to make it is if he gets to the hospital. He got shot in the chest, not his arm or leg. He needs a blood transfusion. He needs medication, I don’t have access to.” Rosalyn spoke slowly as if she was speaking to a child.

“Do you know how many dead bodies are out there? If we go to the hospital, they will report this to the police. Do we really look like we want to be around the police?” Rafael asked her as if she was stupid.

Rosalyn shut her mouth then and decided to check Nathaniel for a pulse. His pulse was not as faint as she thought it would be, which only meant he needed blood and fast.

Rafael got out his phone and dialed the doctor Nathaniel usually favored when things like this happened, giving him all the information.

“My work here is done. Whoever you’re calling needs to be here fast, Nathaniel needs blood and medication something only a hospital can give him, but since you want to be stubborn?” Rosalyn said angrily. Nathaniel had been her patient and this man just thought he could call another doctor on her. She was more than angry in fact.

“You’re not going anywhere,” Rafael said dismissively. She was the least of his problems right now.

Rosalyn made to get to her feet when Nathaniel held her arm again.

“Stay..” that was all he said before his grip loosened.

Rosalyn knew she needed to get back to work, but there was no way she could leave him like this right now. She guessed she was going to punished whenever she got out of here by her resident.

Nathaniel's ObsessionRosalyn woke up the next morning wrapped tightly in Nathaniel’s arms. She couldn’t think of any other place where she felt more safe and secure than she did right now. She nuzzled her face on his chest as she was deep in thought. Underneath all his muscles, hard exterior and arrogance, he was just a sad little boy who didn’t deserve anything that happened to him. Nathaniel kissed her head shocking her before she made to move away and give him some space.

Nathaniel's ObsessionRafael was already pissed. He hated that he needed to be the one to drop off Inez. He already hated people being in his space, but what he hated more was a slut in his face. From the corner of his eye, he could see her looking at her phone every second. As if she was waiting for a call. That only pissed him off more. “Can you stop fidgeting?” Rafael asked not trying to sound polite at all. “I’m sorry. It&rsquo

His hand cut off her air supply. She needed to get away from here. If Rafael was that strong, then she wondered how strong Nathaniel was. If she didn’t do as he said then maybe he would really hurt her this time. Derek had sort of warned her and then now Rafael who was just plainly blinded by jealousy.
