Angelo Cruz POV

I slowly opened my eyes and saw Kristina, she was prepping dinner. It smelled like crab and corn soup, I scoffed, damn this feels nostalgic. It's what I would always eat whenever I get sick when I was younger because-

My thoughts were cut off as Kristina says, "Because crab is yummy and corn helps you improve your vision to find me!"

I was surprised. That was what exactly she says when we were younger, how would Kristina know that? Kristina blushes as she realizes what she just said, "Ah, sorry, force of habit."

"Where did you learn that?"

She laughs and said, "A television program."

I laughed as well, yeah, that television program. It was really my childhood. It feels so nostalgic.

I saw my fists properly bandaged. Kristina must've saw how horrifying it was.

"Why are you still here? Don't you have something to do?" I took a spoonful of the crab and corn soup, which eventually I choked on as Kristina replied, "You asked me to stay."

"I would never!"

"You did."

"No."

"Yes."

"Hell no."

Kristina gave up and showed me a copy of voice record in her phone. It was a record of my voice asking her repeatedly to stay. What? I really asked her to stay? It was a moment of weakness! That's just it right? I was just sick...right? Otherwise why would I ask her to?

I tried to get the phone from her hands to try and delete it but she quickly evades me. She worries, "Hey, you're still sick!"

"Then delete it for me."

"No way." She mocked, "After all, you need me, right?"

"I don't. When did I ever need-"

She played the audio player once again, a record of me saying I need her so she should stay. Ah! This is so embarassing and Kristina won't let me live through the day without remembering I said that!

I tried once again to get the phone, I stood up but soon, I felt wobbly from suddenly standing up that I fell on Kristina. I used my hand to prevent her hands from hitting the ground. Crap, my heart is beating so fast. How are you able to do this to me Kristina? She was also dumbfounded. Her beautiful and somehow familiar eyes looked straight into mine. I draw my face nearer. I was about to kiss her.

She closes her eyes as I lean in closer. My head throbs from some reason that made me snap out of it. I grabbed Kristina's phone and she took it from me, we were fighting over it until Kristina accidentally pressed send to all.

She just sent a voice recording of me saying I need her to the whole student body. Just great. What a great way of spending my first day in class again tomorrow with everyone else thinking, I'm attending classes because of Kristina.

Silence fell between us.

Kristina slowly looked at me and I glared at her making her look away and grab the soup, she says, "You need to eat your soup now, I'll be going on ahead."

"Did you just send that to everyone?"

"Ah.... no..not everyone, I think?" Kristina continued, "I mean, I don't have all the faculty and janitors in my facebook."

"Gee thanks, that made me feel better." I sarcastically remarked as I continued eating the soup

Kristina chuckles nervously, "I didn't mean it sorry."

"Oh sure, mistakes happen, right?"

"Exactly."

Exactly. You better be prepared Kristina, I'll definitely get even tomorrow. She smiles at me nervouslya as she stood up and slowly walks away, "oh look at the time, it's almost late, I have to get going but you're good now, right? You don't need me anymore?"

She realizes what she said and looks away, "Ah right, I just sent that to everyone, bye now."

Ah crap. Tomorrow's going to be busy.

As the next day came. My fists are quite okay so I removed the bandage but scars are still visible from it. I wore my uniform and went to school late, I was hoping to avoid attention but boy was I wrong to be late!

As I step inside the school, everyone was outside their rooms, looks like we have a fire drill rountine. Great, just great. Rumors quickly escalated.

I heard a couple of girls say as I pass them by, "I heard he took down a dozen of people all at once because they insulted Kristina."

And another, "He's like a dark prince, you know how we have Kevin as the epitome of white prince, kind and all and Angelo's more like the evil but soft inside prince."

Great, just great Kristina. People's imaginations sure are something I always managed to be surprised of. Kristina was obviously hiding behind our class' line, I went beside her which made the rumors go a littl more overboard. I whispered to her, "Well, enjoying the spectacle?"

Kristina flinches, "I'm sorry I forgot to tell you about the fire drill today."

"Oh did you now?" I sighed, "Don't worry, I'll get even."

"What does that mean?"

"Oh. You'll see."

She gulped as she prepares for my revenge.

As the fire drill routine finishes, I immediately proceeded to our classroom with my hoodie on. Just when I thought I averted the crisis, I remembered Kristina sat right next to me, the whole class were giggling as if we were a new classroom couple. This sucks.

Even the teachers were teasing us about it.

Mrs. Anne remarked, "So she's not your friend, rather your girlfriend."

"No." Kristina and I answered at the same time

"Okay, love birds." The class were giggling like idiots, what are we, kids? If that's the case, then let me show you what childish really means.

As lunch approaches, everyone except for me eat their lunch, I began prepping my prank for Kristina. I put a transparent thread at the front door and if she trips on her way here, the bucket filled with starch will fall on her, to be fair, starch is the only abundant thing I have at home I don't even know where we use it. Do they expire? Because it's most likely expired.

I was waiting eagerly for Kristina to arrive until I heard her voice beside me, "Hey, I'm really sorry about-"

I cut her off, I was surprised, "What? wait, how are you even here? You didn't trip?"

"Was I supposed to trip every single day?" Kristina laughed, "I'm that clumsy for you, huh?"

"No, it's- how come I didn't see you come in?"

Kristina was confused and she replied, "I... used the back door?"

"What? Why?"

"Because it's a door? What do you mean why?"

Suddenly, our professor came in, she greeted, "Good morning class-", she was cut off as she trips herself by the thread I set up for Kristina. The starch... crap the powder fell on our professor's head. Everyone was fighting the urge to laugh because she's that one teacher. That one teacher we all fear.

The professor was so furious, he exclaimed, "Who did this?"

All eyes were searching the room for the culprit. I slowly raised my hand and replied, "I did."

"Way to blow your first day again, huh?" The professor continued, "Go to the disciplinary office, young man."

As I got my bag and prepare to leave, Kristina mocks, "Nice prank, was that for me?"

"Yes, thanks for asking." I sarcastically replied

She laughed, "Well, I guess, better luck next time!"

"I'll get you next time."

I went to the disciplinary office and received a well-off scolding, well, there goes my "cold and distant" personality, now I'm branded as "rebel" and the weirdest thing is girls seems to like me more now. Seriously, just how bad are their standards to end up choosing me?

Anyways, as dismissal approaches, I know it'll be Kristina who's going to show up in our classroom late because she just left her bag. I set up another prank and this time I closed the back door. I put another thread and a bucket of water on top of the door.

I was waiting for her to come in and that's when I saw Kevin approaching with her. They were so friendly talking to each other, how come they've gotten that close already? Ah this is so annoying.

Kristina was only inches away from the thread until suddenly, Kevin gently switched places with Kristina so the bucket of water fell on him. Annoying Kevin always getting on my nerves!

Kristina Valdez POV

ah, that almost fell on me. No, I'm sure it's intentionally for me but good thing Kevin switched places with me immediately. I used my towel to somehow dry him off but it wasn't doing much.

Kevin hold my hand to stop me and asks, "Are you okay?"

I laughed as I replied, "What? I should be the one asking you that, weirdo!"

"Ah... well, it's just a bit cold and embarrassing I guess." He laughs as well

I handed him my oversized jacket, "Use this, though I doubt it'll do much."

Kevin smiles warmly at me as he replied, "Thanks."

Ah, he really has a warm smile. Suddenly a professor saw us and asked, "Kevin, why are you all wet?"

Kevin shifts his gaze at Angelo and back to the professor, he lied, "Ah, it rained earlier?"

The professory looked at outside to see how bright and sunny it was, it was even too hot outside to consider the possibility of raining. I fought the urge to laugh, geez, Kevin is a bad liar. The professor remarked, "I don't think...so? Are you okay? Did you hit your head and started hallucinating?"

"Ah, no, teacher, we were supposed to be on cleaning duty but the water accidently fell on him." I lied

The professor nodded, it seems like she believes my horirble story, she said, "Well, Mr. Angelo Cruz, why don't you accompany Mr. Kevin Langdon to the clinic- ah, I mean, disciplinary office, there's extra clothes there for him to borrow."

Angelo was about to protest but he didn't want to make it a big deal, he gritted his teeth and replied, "Yes sir."

As soon as the professor left, Kevin and Angelo were glaring at each other. Ah, this is probally a really bad idea to let the two of them go together feeling the atmosphere between them. I sighed as I let them be, I went home and hope for the best for the two of them.

My Sweet Mistake   Chapter 39: "Our future"

Angelo Cruz POV10 years have passed since then, I drank a quick coffee on my way to the hospital...I frantically went to the wards and I asked the nurse, "Where's the patient?" "Ah." the nurse continued, "Dr. Cruz, we've been waiting for you, did you oversleep again?" "Hey, no I didn't." I denied as I put my glasses on to hide my eyebags, "I had to take care of some things in our company." "Wow, you never really fail to amaze me." She mocks, "A doctor and a CEO. What do you lack? Ah right, a girlfriend." I frowned as I glanced at sky. I replied, "Yeah, save the teasing for later." At lunch break, I went ahead and meet Abby at the local cafe. She had the once long and flowy hari again from back when we were kids, she was carrying a laptop and protests, "Seriously? You had me walk all the way here?" "Hey, don't be so picky

My Sweet Mistake   Chapter 38: "Goodbye, Angelo"

Angelo Cruz POV Kristina hugged me back and said, "You finally... remembered me." "I told you I'd never forget you, right? That I'd always come running back to find you?" I was crying as well as I continued, "Sorry it took me years." "It's fine." Kristina smiled I stood up and walked towards Abby, she closes her eyes as she braces herself for the harsh things I'll say but in the end, I patted her head gently, I said, "Thank you Abby. And sorry, I wasn't able to notice you until now." Abby left with Kevin without saying anything else. I walked Kristina back home as I held her hands, I said, "It's a shame that I have to leave you again." "Do you really have to?" I nodded "Then, instead, don't forget to write and be sure you'll come back for me ne

My Sweet Mistake   Chapter 37: "How our past intersects"

Angelo Cruz POV I remembered it so clearly like it was only yesterday... I heard Kristina's voice from our past. She was wearing her hair in a messy pigtail and protested as we were walking around, "Hey! Wait up Angelo.... My feet aches." I remembered how I smiled and said, "I'll carry you, just hop on my back." Kristina would stare into the sky as I carry her on my back and point out at the clouds saying things like, "Wow, I wonder what the clouds taste like." I would always laugh and say, "Probably like water." "Yep probably or like a candy." We would talks about silly things and laugh at silly jokes as I carried her all the way back then we stopped by the tree where Kristina likes to climb all the time. A girl appeared before us that day. She had a long and flowy hair and pastel dress complimenting her pinkish skintone

My Sweet Mistake   Chapter 36: "I know!"

Christina Abby Reyes POV Kevin was still okay after some shots, I remarked, "I take it that you're used to social meetings, what? Your parents forced you to attend?" "No." Kevin replied, "My parents died. I was required to attend and most of them involves drinking, I figured, it's one of the easiest technique to get into their comfort zones and I just kinda got used to it." "Why did you really come?" "I'm heartbroken?" "No. I can see through people's lies you know?" I continued, "I know you have a reason for coming." "Do you know why I gave up?" I gulped and asked, "Why?" "Because I saw Kristina... so happy and heartbroken and sad and genuine. All of those emotions- all of them were because of Angelo- I can be there to pick her up when her heart breaks into a million pieces but just as soon as it gets

My Sweet Mistake   Chapter 35: "The truth"

Angelo Cruz POV Kevin's finally giving up... he must've really liked Kristina, probably more than I do because he can actually let her go and be happy and on the other hand, I can't. I'm sorry for being selfish until the end, Kristina. But that line... it bothered me. What Kristina had said earlier, "I'll be your shield so don't worry too much, you're not alone. You never were." It's what the girl from my childhood would always say. It's the first thing she said when we met at that old abandoned house. I ran away from home. I remembered. How did she know those exact words and Abby never once told me that after all these years? It's the exact lines. The exact reason. Her whole family says it. Just before I go to Kristina, Ashley grabbed my hand and dragged me far away from the venue, she was furious. I guess she figured it all out. I asked even though I think I k

Angelo Cruz POV I immediately pulled away, surprised as Abby kissed me, I protested, "Stop acting like a kid. We're not kids anymore, Abby." "If... I wasn't the girl from your childhood memories... then wouldn't you like me?" Abby asked I flinched as I honestly said, "I... ever since, I only had one special girl in my heart and it was you." "Was." Abby emphasized "Was." I confirmed, "You're someone special to me and you always will be. For that, I will be forever thankful for you being there Abby but you have to let me go." "Why? You know you're bad for Kristina, all you do is hurt her but can you let her go? Can you let her go and find happiness with someone else?" Abby asks I... wasn't able to say anything back. I...couldn't? There was a time that we were happy. We really were but as my memories bet
