Chapter 1

The Beginning

Just starting my day with my routine. Everyone has a daily routine, Right? And Mine? Just a cup of coffee and listening to my favorite music.

Our first sentence is classy. I just feel rich. Actually we're not.

* Phone Rings *

"Hello? Ma?" I answered the phone.

"Daughter, I'm sorry I forgot to leave you a money. I'm early here in the market to have a sale immediately" Mama said from the phone.

I just smiled. Knowing that even though we were poor, My mother never neglected me.

"It's okay Ma, I still have money left here from yesterday" I said.

"Don't worry my child, I'll pay you back later- All right and I already have a customer" Mama said.

"All right Mama" I said and turned off the call.

I drank the coffee I was drinking and took a shower.

This is my last year of studying. After that I will graduate. It still depends on whether you can pass the demonstration of being a teacher.

I'm soon to be a teacher. If I would be lucky. I'm getting the T.L.E major in secondary department.

I stopped combing my hair when my phone rings.

I smiled when I read my boyfriend's name on the cellphone screen.

"Guess what? I have not forgotten" I whispered before answering its call.

"Yes? Why were you calling?" I act.

"Here you go again love, Good morning to my very attitude soon to be wife, muuaah" He said with a happy tone of voice.

I couldn't help but shudder at what do I expect.

"Hahahaha! You really don't forget to greet me huh, too consistent, wow!?" I said jokingly.

Look, Our realationship is hard. Why? Long Distanct Relationship. I am in Manila and he is in Vigan. It's too far between the two of us. And these days we are also busy because we are both graduating.

"You are the first thing I think of when I wake up and you are still my prayer before I go to sleep. So how can I forget you?" He says making me feel butterflies in my stomach.

"Wow! really love!? I hope you don't change. We've been together for 2 years but you still don't get tired of me" I said.

"You're so cute, don't think about that. Wait and we'll meet once I graduate. I'll go there and marry you" he said.

"Thank you Nhel, I love you" I said.

"I love you too, Myra" He replied.

"All right Love. I still have work to do. I miss you so much" I said.

"All right Love. You always update me huh? I miss you more" Nhel said.

I dropped the call and immediately grabbed my bag. I walked and took a jeep to the university I was attending.

"Myra! I already got Dad's gift for me!" My bestfriend said, Cassandra.

She showed me her new cellphone, Iphone 11. I was amazed at how it looked but I knew the price of that phone was staggering.

"I hope everyone has an iphone" I said to my friend.

"Hoping all, Lol! let's take a photo!" Cass said cheerfully.

Its camera was very nice apart from being very clear and auto focused.

I hid from Cass the envy I was feeling. I promised myself that when I graduated I would try to work so that Mama and I could get out of poverty. We would not be like this if Dad had not disappeared.

I sat down in my chair and looked out the window, looking at the sky. How I wish we were still with Papa. Dad died of Lung Cancer. We were not very poor back then. We are capable because Dad works in a factory. But even though we stopped him from smoking, he still did not stop. So because of old age and lung cancer, he died. I was in my third year of high school when Papa disappeared. We suffered even more because of the hospital expenses while I was still studying.

I don't have any sibling because I'm a Miracle baby.

The Doctor then said that it would be difficult for my Mother to get pregnant and there was only a 50% chance that they would have a baby. But then I came. The reason why I receive lots of love from my parents because I'm a big blessing to them. So also my name is Myraquel to pronounce as Miracle but the spelling is Myraquel.

So here I am doing everything I can to get out of poverty. It's just the two of us, My Mom and me.

"Sir is here!" One of our naughty classmates shouted.

"Good Morning class" Sir greeted us.

"Good Morning Sir John" we all greeted.

"Okay class take a seat, Copy everything I wrote on the board, it will all appear in your exams" Sir John said.

I copied and listened to Sir's discussion because I was a kind creature.

It was an awkward moment everytime Sir John and I stared at each other. Since we entered college, my classmates have been teasing me and Sir. Because Sir is a bit of a Joker, he accompanies the class trip. But everybody knows that I have a boyfriend so they stop. But I really felt something for Sir so I avoided him. Also because he is a good looking guy. It is not obvious to him that he is 31 years old. I do not discriminate against him but others say that Sir is gay because he is not married yet.

Lunch break came and I was still with my only bestfriend.

"Girl! The report cards will be taken tomorrow, I'm hoping to get at least three" Cass said laughing.

"In other subjects I am a bit negative. I'm trying my best but the case is really difficult" I said.

"That's the reason why Mich committed suicide, right?" Said Cass.

I gasped. Because of learning there are life that lost.

Mich is my classmate. She is a consistent honor student but because of hard work and fatigue. She decided to end her life. Because she doesn't seem to feel happy anymore. Her last note was very sad. I felt her pain, so then she committed suicide.

"It's good that I can still cope. I'm still looking at the bright side of the world. Look at how bright the sun is and how hot it is! The sunlight is straight to us!" I said while pointing at the sky.

Cass just laughed and fiddled with his new Iphone.

Not so far away, I saw our professor, Sir John again with other teachers.

Cass and I are both studying as Educator and same major. Because we're sisters by heart.

I texted my boyfriend to keep safe and I reminded him that I love him so much.

I'll keep on believing that my dreams will come true!
