ALLEN POV

I was sleeping, but somewhere I could hear a faint howl. This disrupted my peaceful sleep. I went near the balcony to see where the voice came from. I could see nothing but woods topped by a full moon. I knew that dogs usually try to howl during full moon.

so, I ignored the voice but there was no luck. Although aunt had warned us about not going anywhere close to the woods. Something in me was curious to know where the voice came from. It is always a human instinct to be curious about what we don’t see.

So I opened the back door slowly, not to disturb my boys. I was only wearing a white frock, which made me feel the chills in the wind. As I went closer to the woods there were only tall huge trees, which was making it difficult  to navigate myself towards the voice. But, something in me was feeling relieved and scared at the same time.

I walked for 10 mins before I saw a lake, man was it gorgeous. The moonlight danced over its surface reflecting the sky. It was mesmerizing, I could watch it a whole day without blinking my eyes.

Some abrupt noises disturbed the surroundings. I could see some shadows moving across the pond. Fearing they would spot me, I hid behind a rock.

As I strained my eyes to look closer, I could spot wolves…..they were freaking wolves. Now I was in deep trouble. I had to wait before they left the grounds, or who knows I would be their main dish. By their movements, I could tell that there was a pack who were going against a grey wolf.

Some of their actions surprised me, as they bowed and made way for a black wolf who in a moment ripped of the grey wolf’s head. The image was something I couldn’t comprehend. The fear inside me was growing deeper and deeper and I knew I had to get out of here. Just as I was about to leave, I stepped on a twig which broke the silence. Why does it have to be like this?

As I turned towards the pack to see if they spotted me. A powerful pair of eyes made my whole body still. It was the eyes of the black wolf. We were just staring at each other before someone pulled my hand. In a moment I was running away from the bloodshed scene, from the eyes that were staring at me.

As their form became smaller every step I took away from them, the black wolf started howling and so did all the other wolfs and they ran. The problem was they were not running away from us but towards us!!!!!!!!

Imagine a 1000 soldiers coming after you. That was the only picture that came to my mind.

I turned towards the person pulling me, I knew it was my brother from his back.

‘ we need to run faster, they are coming after us’ I said panting

‘I know that, why else do you think I'm running like a TORTOISE’ he said sarcastically

We both ran for our dear lives. We never looked back until we reached the house, closing the door and locking it, even supporting it with a chair. ‘thanks bro’ I said with a smile. The look on his face said that I was about to get an hour lecture and also be grounded for a week.

And... it started

‘ WHAT DO YOU THINK you are doing here deep in the woods? Do you know what would happen if I wasn’t there on TIME? You would have been EATEN!! Me and dad would have to search for your broken legs and hands. What was in your MIND while you did that………..’ and it went on for 2 hours like I said.

‘ you’re GROUNDED for a week’ he said and left. But the rush and excitement we both had while running was something we never felt in a year. I was happy to see my grumpy possessive brother back to life again.

I went back to sleep after a hot bath.
