CHAPTER 8

Chloe's POV

After our conversation I spent the whole evening with Ian just sitting on the couch and watching American football while he explained it to me and I argued about I how I still don't understand it. He held my hand in his all through the game till I fell asleep laying on his lap.

I even forgot that I was supposed to go out with Lauren and some of my friends. I woke an hour later still laying on his lap. I checked my cellphone to see angry messages from Lauren on how I stood them up.

I apologized telling her my sister was in town that's why I couldn't but I'm still making it up to them because we're going out next weekend.

"Why didn't you wake me," I said to Ian turning to look at him. He was acting all weird immediately I got off his lap he quickly carried his laptop sitting which was on the table and put it on his lap.

"You look like you were tired so I just let you sleep and I forgot you were supposed to go out." He says quickly before standing up still holding his laptop in place.

I look at him weirdly before asking, "have you eaten dinner."

"No I haven't but I already had Smith get us Chinese food but if you want something else?" He asks.

"No Chinese is okay." I say standing up too.

"Uhnmm I'll go freshen up before the food comes" he says swiftly before quickly walking to his room.

"Okay that was weird" I say out loud to him but he had already left.

I got up and went to my room, took a quick shower and changed into a maxi sweatshirt without any trousers, the sweatshirt is just below my ass. I like to be comfortable in whatever I wear at home and having Ian around isn't going change how I dress.

I go out into the living room and Ian was already waiting for me, he had also taken a shower and changed noticing his wet hair and he was wearing sweatpants and a white T-shirt.

"Hey, were you waiting for me" I say pointing to the food.

"No not really just got out a few minutes ago." I sit down beside him while he passes me some rice chicken and we start eating.

"Okay wait" I say. "We can't eat without watching Netflix that's just crazy."

He laughs and passes me the remote.

I search for this French show I was watching, all my friends in Paris were into it and I've also been into it.

"What's this" he asks pointing to the tv.

"Okay so it's a French tv show, it's kind of addictive and you know I like watching foreign shows. You'll like it." I add smiling.

"Okay so you're already on episode 9, how will I understand it." He asks flashing me he perfect smile.

"I'll explain it to you and you can catch up later." I say as I start explaining the show to him. I pause it and explain it to him before we start eating.

More than an hour later we were done eating and we were already on a second episode.

He kept asking me questions after two two scenes. While I kept closing my hand over his mouth to keep him from talking, which made him laugh and my stomach fluttered whenever I heard him laugh.

But I think he has gotten the hang of it now.

"Should we watch another episode" he asks.

"No I think I should turn in now, I have to call Mia before crashing in." I say smiling.

"So see you tomorrow," I add standing up.

"Let's go running tomorrow," he says.

"You want to go running with me," I say laughing. "You do know I'll just slow you down right." I add.

"Yeah I know,” he says smiling. “But yeah let's go running." He says giving me his sexy yet serious piercing look.

"Okay I say. But you'll have to carry me up to my room if I get worn out." I add smirking at him.

He laughs at that. "Sure I will," he says smirking back.

Ian calls to wake me up for our early morning run. I quickly dress up and meet him downstairs. We take his normal route jogging instead of running.

"So you really aren't a morning person" he says.

"Yeah I'm not, just be happy I like you or you'll have to endure my morning grumpiness." I add.

"Well I'm so glad I don't have to face grumpy Chloe. I know mean Chloe, tipsy Chloe but I don't to meet grumpy Chloe." He says smiling.

I change the subject to something I've wanted to bring up since I found out about him and Kathy.

"So why haven't you told me you were engaged." I ask suddenly regretting mentioning it when I saw him abrupt to a stop.

"Who told you that," he asks.

"Chrissy did, so what happened." I ask again.

He runs his hands into his hair looking straight into my eyes.

"Nothing really," he says walking away. I follow him.

"Really nothing? that's not a nothing look." I question him again.

"Well okay" he says after a long pause.

"There's really nothing to say, I was in love but it didn't work out." He says avoiding my gaze.

"She married your brother huh." I say.

He looks at me at the mention of that, "Yeah they fell in love, if it's okay with you I don't like talking about that maybe we should change the subject." He adds jogging again.

I start jogging too following him.

"I'm sorry I really have no filter I shouldn't have mentioned it." I say apologetically.

"It's okay you don't have to apologize, I just don't want to talk about that." He says jogging faster.

I catch up to him and we finish the whole jog in silence.

I really shouldn't have said anything about that, we were finally becoming closer than before and I go ahead and ruin it, what is wrong with me I think to myself suddenly feeling worse.

We run back to the hotel still in silence since our conversation. I was panting heavily because we actually ran faster after my Kathy comment he even ran when I stopped to drink water just reducing his pace a bit.

He looks at me as we enter the elevator. "You're hardly breathing" he says. "Should I complete my promise and carry you up to your room." He asks with a complete straight face avoiding my eyes.

"It's okay I'm good," I say.

"No you're not" he says lifting me up in arms.

"Put me down" I say trying to get down.

"No I won't, now stop moving" he says finally looking into my eyes with his perfect blue eyes.

The elevator dings open reaching our as he carry's me to our down. He knocks and the housekeeper opens the door. We enter inside with him still holding while I put my arm around his neck for extra support.

He takes me to my room still looking into my eyes, my heart was beating fast as I looked down at his lips. His face was just inches away from mine any sudden movements our lips would touch.

He smelled perfectly and completely manly which turned me on and all I could think of is having his lips on mine.

He drops me on the bed pulling away slowly. He stood over me silently for a minute just watching me, my face first, then my chest, then my thighs and back to face. It was like he was studying every part me, which made my stomach flutter.

God he was so beautiful, so so tall, at that moment all I wanted was him to look at me under that hooded gaze forever.

But his heart was someone's already. I suddenly remember what he said when I asked about Kathy. "I was in love with her but it didn't work out" I have repeated those words over and over in my head since he mentioned them.

He clearly still loved her and the next thought on my mind was maybe he would never fall for me but I can atleast distract him from his heart break. A new mission I thought.

I could distract him, I just hope my heart doesn't make me do something stupid and ruin our newly found friendship.
