The Palace Hotel.

Daphne Mae Montgomery sat on the couch in the luxurious presidential suite, staring down at the handmade carpet, which was more expensive than her own skirt by one square foot alone. Her eyes were as silent as ashes.

What would a high school graduate who had just received admission into the best university in the country do during summer vacation after graduation?

Some would be partying, others would go traveling, some would be busy saying goodbye to their classmates…

Daphne, on the other hand…

“Daphne, we Montgomerys have always treated you well. Therefore, as a Montgomery, you must now help the company in its time of need! Spend the night with him, and our family will be saved. You will be our savior!”

Olivia Benwick-Montgomery’s voice echoed in her mind once again, loud and clear.

The temperature in the presidential suite was at 25℃. Daphne was freezing from head to toe.

‘Savior…’

As Olivia’s voice reverberated in Daphne’s mind again, her biological father, Wesley Ken Montgomery’s hesitant yet eager face appeared as well.

They had clearly made up their minds, so Daphne had given up on asking, “Why?”.

She eyed Wesley steadily as she asked, “If I help save this family, will you sever our ties?”

What was her father’s answer then?

A clear sound pierced through the silence in the air, snapping Daphne back from her thoughts. She instinctively lifted her head toward that sound.

She saw two men walking in. Daphne was nearsighted, so she couldn’t see their faces from a distance. The only thing she could tell, based on their figures, was that they were very tall men.

“Mr. Wolfe, the chairman of Star Estates is waiting for us downstairs, claiming that he absolutely must see you today. Apparently, he wants to buy you a meal.”

Daphne overheard from one of the men.

‘Mr. Wolfe…’ She was suddenly feeling nervous.

“Heh. Who does he think he is? Buying me a meal… As if I’ve never eaten a meal in my life. If he’s that eager to wait, let him! Push him to death!”

The man had a deep voice, arrogant and condescending.

“Right, Mr. Wolfe,” replied Lucas Shaw, his assistant.

Daphne squinted toward the direction of those voices. However, she was caught off guard when she locked eyes with another pair of sharp, almond-shaped eyes, and a strong, aggressive aura hit her right in the face!

Daphne quickly lowered her head, too afraid to look at him anymore.

‘How terrifying!’

“That’s enough. Go back to work. I have some business to attend to.” Nicholas Lee Wolfe glanced at Daphne, who was sitting on the couch.

The man’s outstandingly exquisite features seemed to command even more respect under the presidential suite's opulent lighting. He raised his brow, ever so slightly, which seemed to show a thread of loftiness toward the rest of the world.

Lucas glanced at Daphne. “Have a pleasant night, Mr. Wolfe.”

Daphne’s beautiful little face blushed at those words. She lowered her head even more.

She heard the door close and some rustling noises. Then, everything returned to silence.

“You. Come here!”

It was a commanding and icy order.

Daphne’s palms were now sweaty. She got up and walked to the side.

She hadn’t forgotten why she was here.

When she saw the man’s black leather shoes in front of her, she stopped. The air was so stifling that she was too afraid to lift her head.

“Why are you looking down? Are you too afraid to look at me, or are you feeling inferior because of your ugliness?”

Nicholas sat on the couch, and his sharp pupils eyed Daphne ruthlessly.

Daphne jumped. She slowly raised her head and looked at Nicholas.

As her small, exceptionally delicate face slowly revealed itself underneath the dim lights, a dark glint flashed across Nicholas’s eagle-like eyes.

Stunning!

He placed his large hand on her dainty face; her features were so beautiful that they set his heart aflame. Especially those eyes… So pristine!

“Plastic surgery?”

Nicholas eyed Daphne.

He was the one sitting down, yet she felt as if he was staring down on her instead.

“No.”

Daphne lowered her head again. She couldn’t get a good look at the man’s face and didn’t want to, anyway.

“You’re not bad looking! Come here!”

Daphne was taken aback. She lifted her head and stared at Nicholas, bewildered.

Nicholas’s gaze flashed icily. “Stop acting so innocent! I don’t do well with playing hard-to-get. If you don’t want to serve me, leave!”

‘Leave…’

‘I can’t leave!’

Daphne bit her lips. She walked toward Nicholas and then… Stood next to him.

‘What am I supposed to do now?’

“I don’t have time to play ‘one, two, three, red light’ with you!”

The man’s voice sounded dangerously impatient as if he was ready to throw her out at any moment.

Daphne panicked, but she really didn’t know what to do. She bit her lips, steeled herself, and pounced on Nicholas!

Nicholas immediately grabbed Daphne’s wrists and threw her off!

He had only intended to have Daphne change his clothes for him, but this woman had the nerve to kiss him! How dare she!

“Ah!”

Daphne landed on the ground. The sheer force from Nicholas’s surprising strength really hurt her, despite how soft the ground was.

“Get out!”

Daphne’s hand, which was rubbing her forehead, paused when she heard the man’s angry roar.

“Why are you still here?”

Nicholas glared at Daphne, releasing an aggressive killing intent.

The atmosphere grew increasingly suffocating. Daphne felt as if she couldn’t breathe. She stared at the cruel look on Nicholas’s face—it was like a large, invisible hand had clamped itself around her neck.

Daphne bit her lip. She got up from the ground and stared at Nicholas determinedly. “I can’t leave.”

‘This woman had just kissed me! That was unbearable!’

As long as Nicholas agreed to save the Montgomerys, she could cut ties with her family of devils. However, she had to receive Nicholas’s favor first.

Unfortunately, Nicholas was clearly unsatisfied with her now. He had asked her to leave twice!

Nicholas’s icy glare eyed her like a knife.

‘If that doesn’t get his favor, I don’t know what will…’ Daphne thought.

Nicholas’s almond eyes suddenly darkened as red light glowed in its depths.

Daphne shut her eyes. Her eyelashes trembled. Suddenly, a large hand grabbed her by the wrist.

The pain made her open her eyes again, to find a pair of fiery eyes staring right back at her.

Daphne had no chance of studying Nicholas’s face at such close proximity. However, she had no time anyway. Her first impression of the man was that he was extremely tall, more than one head taller than her.

“Ah!”

She was forcefully flung onto the couch.
