Prologue: A Stranger Appears
Autor: EndeavourThe stranger waited until the light that enveloped him faded, replaced by a rustic scene of bamboo and wooden houses surrounding a public square. He looked closely at his hands and the ordinary peasant clothes that he was wearing. Running his hands over his body, he felt the rough texture of the woven fibers that made up the cloth. He then lifted the hem of his shirt and examined the individual colored threads. Impressed by what he saw, the stranger glanced all around him and observed that he was in what seemed to be a deserted market square.
The stranger breathed in and felt the cool air fill his lungs. Then, he looked up to see the sprinkling of stars and a lone moon in its gibbous phase. The eastern sky was already starting to lighten up and the stranger knew that it would not be long before the sun appeared.
In the middle of the square, where the stranger stood, was what appeared to be an ancient fountain. The stranger stepped closer to it and examined the stone and wooden structure. He felt the texture of the stone basin and ran his hand on the surface of the water. The stone basin, visibly worn out by time, felt smooth and the water felt cool to the touch. The stranger made ripples on the water and watched his own silhouette get distorted along with his background of the brightening sky. Next, he scooped up water from the basin using his hands and splashed it all around him. He watched the water droplets as they fell on the ground and felt some of it spray on his face.
Standing up straight next to the fountain, the stranger jumped up and down, feeling the weight of his body on his legs. He heard the sound of his shoes hitting the stone and the soft echoes that bounced around him. He stopped and listened as the echoes faded. He then looked at the ground and found a fallen branch from a tree nearby. He picked up the branch and hit the ground hard. The sound reverberated all around the square. The stranger chuckled and dropped the branch to the ground. Then,
cupping his hands over his mouth, he shouted at the top of his lungs."Hello, world!" the stranger shouted.
Hearing the echoes of his own voice, the stranger appeared to be very pleased. Suddenly, he heard voices coming from behind him along with the patter of feet on the ground.
"Hey, you!" the stranger heard a voice call to him. He turned around and saw two men in what appeared to be soldier uniforms. They approached the stranger with caution.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" asked one of the soldiers, his hand drawing his sword from its sheath.
"Just trying things out," said the stranger.
"Is he the one you saw?" asked the first soldier to his companion.
"Yes. I saw a ball of light. When the light faded, he was already standing there," replied the second soldier.
"You will come with us," said the first soldier.
"Okay," said the stranger. "How does this go? Do I walk in front of you? Do you tie me up?" The stranger chuckled.
"Tie his hands," the first soldier told his companion. "Make sure the knots are tight."
The second soldier took the strangers hands and tied them tightly behind him.
"I don't think that's tight enough," said the stranger. The second soldier pulled the rope tighter.
"Okay. That's tight enough," said the stranger with a grunt.
"You will come with us," said the first soldier.
"You already said that," said the stranger.
The two soldiers flanked the stranger and took him along the still deserted streets. The stranger whistled in amazement when upon crossing the street, he viewed an imposing fortress on top of the hill where the soldiers seemed to be taking him.
"Everything looks good in this world!" the stranger said.

Journey Through the Shadow Realms Chapter 91: Escape Through the Tunnels
Casser looked at Remuel innocently and said, “You know I couldn’t do that to you, my friend. You’ve known me for a long time. We’ve done business for so long that I could not remember the first one.”“It was the ring of Mendor, or rather a bad copy of the ring of Mendor, and I remember how that went,” replied Remuel.“I didn’t know it was just a copy,” Casser tried to explain.“I almost lost a finger because of that,” said Remuel. “Then, there was the ardap stone.”“I remember that. Iridescent scales reflected the morning sun and a snakelike figure emerged from the darkness of the trees. She shielded her eyes briefly from the sun before slithering and coming to the courtyard where the outlaws were. She stared at the small group of people who stood in front of the tunnel entrance to protect the other outlaws who were trying to escape.Eldion gasped upon seeing Verna emerge from between the trees. Wen bit her lower lip as she tried to think what they should do. She knew that the ancient temple would be overrun by the imperial soldiers, but she did not know that it could happen so soon. Shaan was not with Verna and Wen feared for the worst. Verna’s face looked fierce, but Wen could tell from her sad eyes that there was something immensely wrong.Verna slithered out of the way as the trees behind her fell to the ground and a giant man with a troll-like face came out to the open. In his hand was a broadaxe which he had used to fell the trees in his path. He waved the b

Journey Through the Shadow Realms Chapter 88: The Demonstration
Lankko looked around him uneasily and stopped briefly when he saw one of the outlaws just behind Wen and Eldion. Then, he continued to sweep his surroundings but without really focusing on anything or anyone before going back to Eldion and walking towards him. Then, with slow seemingly exaggerated movements, Lankko handed to Eldion a pile of clothes which the latter accepted. Lankko mumbled something and Eldion nodded his head. Afterwards, Lankko stepped back and turned to face the center of the ancient courtyard where the stone table and Kora was.Kora was oblivious to the numerous eyes that had focused on her and Lankko. She moved her head from side to side before sitting on the stone table where she found herself. Lankko picked up Kora who seemed to recognize the man holding her. Lankko stroked Kora’s feathers and the chicken closed its eyes as if enjoying the attention she was receiving. Then, Lankko held Kora under one arm while
Journey Through the Shadow Realms Chapter 87: Outside the Tunnels
Enzir followed Eldion and Wen from several steps away as the two searched the tunnels for Casser. Enzir had worn the guard’s clothes and hid his hair using the guard’s head covering. Earlier, Mira through Wen, also made a few adjustments on Enzir’s appearance and instructed him not to have a too straight posture or he would stand out like a sore thumb. “Stand as if you had worked at the fields the whole day,” said Mira and Wen relayed her instructions to Enzir.“I haven’t worked any of my fields. I wouldn’t know how that would feel,” admitted Enzir and Eldion had to suppress a laugh.“You’ve lived a life of privilege,” sighed Wen. “Imagine fighting Verna the whole day,” she said.“Verna?” asked Enzir, not knowing the real name of the snake creature of Alanca.“You knew her as Alanca, but she told us her name was Verna,” explained Eldion

Earlier, Casser left Eldion and Wen with the knowledge that they had already healed Enzir. Wen and Eldion were surprised that Casser was able to find out that Enzir had already recovered from his injuries while Enzir had to comment on the merchant’s shrewdness. As the three were left by Casser in the cavern alone, they decided to talk about what they should do next.“It will just be a matter of time before Remuel finds out that you’ve healed,” said Wen. “And who knows what he’s going to do afterwards. We need to get you out of here quickly.”“I can’t go without Lankko. He is my Keeper of Secrets and I need to protect him. Also, you need the magic elixir he’s made to try and get Eldion to recover his memories,” said Enzir, looking intently at Wen.“But there’s the outlaw standing guard at the entrance,” added Eldion, waving his hand towards the entrance without looking.&ld

“How did you get that soot on you?” Remuel asked Casser. Then, Remuel raised an eyebrow and looked at the tunnel behind Casser. “Did you just come from the coal storage?” he asked.Casser wiped his face and looked at the soot on his hands. He looked at the tunnels b
