Something isn't right

We walked into the party and the view portrayed was tremendously treasuring to the eye with few décors and some spare club lights which struggled to illuminate the hall with unsteady rays. I must tell, the mastermind had it all well. They were beautiful tables dressed in thin linen, silky lemon green cloth containing different meals and drinks with vases of purple roses, candles that brought up blue lights (I don’t know how they did that), and a very mind-blowing French fragrance that kept hitting my hooked noise.

“This.is.unbelievable.” Abigale exclaims with her eyes wandering the magnificent hall.

“This must certainly be Evans handwork”

“Who’s Evans?” I question as we strolled towards one of the tables

“I’ll tell you later on. Right now, my stomach is craving for food” she cries lifting a plate from the side of the table while I giggle in response picking up some berries into my mouth.

Their choices of music were the perfect match for this senior gathering. I felt at home though I wasn’t allowed to take part in gatherings like this. No one to scold me, everyone minded his/her business and I did too looking for a sit away from the crowd.

I didn’t dare drink because tequila or not, I’m so weak in acidity. I have a very delicate, sensitive, and fast in response human system.

While I stared at the party and hummed some music’s lyrics, I felt shadows passing behind me. I wasn’t sure those behind because where I sat was covered with a thick cloth which was darker than other areas.

Maybe some students making out… I say to myself though not certain about my statement.

Abigale started marching towards me with a questioning look on her face “What are you doing all alone? The party has just started and you’re sticking here” she scolds

Okay, I’m starting to feel she’s my mom’s clone

“Excuse me…you’re the one who was very concentrated in your food so, I had to give you some space” I explained

“Whatever! Just come with me” she says griping my hand and pulling me on the other side of the hall.

“Why are going there?” I questioned hesitantly

“You’ll know when we arrive” she answers shortly and I just let her lead the way in a panic.

I don’t know why but I felt like all eyes were on me when moving with Abigale into the crowd.

It became intense that I glimpsed at the turndown collar flora printed white blouse tying with a dark jean short summer outfit I was putting on and a pair of white leather with strass junior low top (Sneaker) which contained sparkles on the edge of it.

Bringing my head up, I noticed every other girl putting on either a sexy fitting robe or skirt except Abigale who had her blue jumper jean with a cute crimson crop top along with an espadrille blue and white shoes.

It was then I noticed how fitting she was in them as she faded into the crown the more.

“Lexi” Abigale shouts at a teen who is sitting within the group of girls and she brings her gaze to Abigale in astonishment exposing her white rows of teeth and some dimples follow.

“Where have you been? I’ve been scanning the whole school for you” she replies pulling herself from her sit into Abigale’s embrace.

Immediately her eyes sported me behind Abigale after withdrawing from the hug, I sensed detest and jealousy.

“Come meet my friend…Lexi” Abigale introduces and I give her a faint smile

“Lexi this is Nice Daigle and she’s new here” Abigale continues

“Nice…it’s a pleasure meeting you” Lexi greets extending her hand and I receive still not interrogating my gaze from her “Hope you have a lot of fun but don’t stick around if not, you may get devoured” Lexi reports opening her eyes wide and I instantly let go of her grasp bringing her hand back to my side.

“Stop! You’re scaring her.” Abigale dismisses then turn to me whispering “That’s how she is…you’ll get used to it just like I did”

I hope so -I speak within myself with my eyes stayed on her.

Taking our sits, the light is completely turn on and the music is stopped while our board master, Mrs. Jana head towards the grandstand. Positioning a mic slightly below her lip Mrs. Jana says

“Good evening young girls and boys” she salutes “I want to, first of all, appreciate my son here for the amazing décor he prepared for us. Keep it up”

I snap my eyes towards the guy she praised but couldn’t get his view clearly since he put on a dark cap.

“Finally we come back into another episode of the academic year which I’m certain some of us have been preparing for these few days” Mrs. Jana’s words pull back my attention.

“While we have newbies who packed in today, hope they get along the ancients of days of school and take in the missed lessons…”

“What missed lessons?” I questioned still keeping my focus on the talking Mrs. Jana

“Every senior student is bound to come a week earlier before the normal school resuming day” Abigale replies

“And they teach in those days?”

“Yes. But this time you’re lucky just two professors made it while the others came today just like every other junior student. Though the two professors gave a pile of notes and assignments” she finalizes causing me to look at her.

“I don’t think I’m lucky…do you?” she giggles bringing her gaze to me

“That’s my way of telling you how extremely unlucky you could have been if the other teachers came earlier”

I just give her a half-smile turning back to Mrs. Jana who is completing her speech.

“Hope these words sink into your eardrums. Not bridging the time given to me, I’ll be rounding up by officially introducing my new daughter Nice Daigle over there…and wishing you all a wonderful time” she ends handing the mic to the board master…yet I’m frozen on my spot to what just took place.

This is so embarrassing since it called more attention towards me and some crazy bitches can’t stop hissing like the one beside Abigale called Lexi.

“Did you hear that Nice? You are officially popular right away. You have no idea the look Jessica gave you and how excited I am when she is downgraded. It was even more embarrassing than the guy she is attracted to can’t keep his gaze of you” Abigale announces directing her hand towards the guy Mrs. Jana praised but as soon as our gaze met, someone, stood before me blocking my view.

I looked up only to see Jessica looking down at me like vomit. Signing I redirect my look at the wall while Abigale speaks up “What do you want?”

“I wasn’t here for your busy body. I came to see my sweet ‘sister’” Jessica returns her gaze to me smirking dangerously

Abigale just chuckles then burst out into laughter after trying so hard to control herself, pulling Jessica’s attention to her. Jessica looks so annoyed that she strides away without making another sound.

“She hates being mocked at or disgraced that’s why she left” Lexi finally speaks after an extended period of silence and I look at her as though something isn’t right because her gaze is sharply pointed… I follow her gaze veer Evans who is currently walking towards the place I was sited before Abigale pulled me away and goes beyond the large cloth.

Turning to my side, I don’t see Abigale but Lexi is still there
