Chapter 32 Can I Not Text You For Fun? Uncle!

Author: A Sleeve Full Of Cloud
However, Sarah did not receive any message in the end.

The torment lasted until 2:00 a.m. yet she was still not at all sleepy.

She had already drunk a glass of warm milk and devoured an apple but it was still to no avail. Finally, she resorted to chugging a big jug of honey lemon tea.

Sarah stayed up for another hour almost effortlessly. Just when drowsiness began to fill her eyes, she started to make several trips to the bathroom because she had consumed too much liquid earlier…

She was still holding the cell phone in hand when the sleepiness eventually overtook her…

……

Aunt Wren was stirred from sleep when Jon had returned.

She walked out of her bedroom in pajamas and immediately went to make a sobering-tea upon detecting the smell of alcohol that filled the air.

Sharon was about to leave after assisting the tipsy man to the couch.

Out of her expectation, however, she had discovered a hair tie which was abandoned on the coffee table before taking her leave.

She landed her attention on the black hair tie as she rose to her feet.

Sharon would not be surprised to find women's belongings if they were at the villa by the sea because both Jon’s mother and fiancée visited him from time to time, but...

She could not resist herself from glancing toward the second floor.

Indeed, one of the rooms was still brightly lit…

Jon headed upstairs after drinking the sobering-tea.

Sharon had long taken her leave. Only Aunt Wren was still in the living room, collecting the teacup in silence.

Jon placed one of his hands in the pocket and walked past Sarah’s room without pausing in his track.

He stepped into the bathroom straight away after returning to his bedroom.

A dark-colored towel was wrapped around his waist after he had scrubbed the smell of alcohol off his body.

The gray of the daybreak had proclaimed the dawn by the time he reappeared from the bathroom.

He walked toward the window and lowered his head to light a cigarette. White puffs of smoke lingered in the air.

Jon retrieved his cell phone for a glance. The time revealed it was already 5:35 a.m.

He was about to throw the phone back on the bed when he was suddenly reminded of something else. His finger danced across the screen again to unlock the phone.

He reread the text message that appeared in front of his eyes.

[Can I not text you for fun? Uncle!]

His lips twitched into a smile before he even realized it. Strangely, he did not feel weird to be addressed as an uncle. He could even imagine her facial expression when she was crafting this text. The girl must be in a mood when she delivered this text and he found himself wondering who had annoyed her this time.

The lights in the bedroom opposite his were still turned on. Jon threw on a casual outfit and walked out of his room.

The door to Sarah’s room was opened ajar. It had probably been left open when Nunu snuck inside earlier.

Jon could see the interior of the room clearly even from the door.

The girl was sprawled across the black and white bedsheet. Both of her slender legs were exposed under the soft light, one of them was still in bed whereas the other one was hung carelessly on the edge. He discovered she was wearing his thin sweater. Her long hair as thick as seaweed was a mess behind her shoulder and there was even some perspiration on the bridge of her nose. That red lips positioned near her fair cheeks looked extremely tempting…

Jon extended his arm to close the door but Sarah’s cell phone fell from the bed as soon as his fingertips touched the handle.

He walked inside to return the cell phone next to her pillow. The screen lit up when his skin brushed against it accidentally.

An undelivered text message appeared on the screen. The half-written text message was intended for him.

Jon lifted the cell phone slowly.

[Leave me here alone and not reply to my texts. You’re so annoying…]

The corners of his lips curled upward into a smile as he studied her face. A strange feeling materialized in his heart but it disappeared almost immediately before he could make sense of the emotions.

He returned the cell phone to the bed and proceeded to turn the lights off.

Nunu that was curled up on the carpet groaned weakly when disturbed by his footsteps.

The dog lifted its head to regard Jon in daze before returning to sleep a few seconds later…

——————

The next morning, Sarah jumped up from bed in shock because of an extra-large buttock that was weighing down her chest.

Nunu had positioned itself on her chest. Its fluffy tail was brushing across Sarah’s face relentlessly.

Sarah pushed the dog away forcefully but it returned to torture the girl again.

It happened several more times after that. She became frustrated in the end and pressed its head into the duvet angrily.

Nunu’s deafening whimpers frightened Aunt Wren who was on the first floor…

Aunt Wren could not make sense of this love-hate relationship between Sarah and Nunu.

However, considering the latter’s safety, Aunt Wren decided to walk the dog in the end. “Second Young Master has already gotten out of the bed. Would you like to have breakfast with him?” she questioned before leaving the house.

Sarah, who got up on the wrong side of the bed, pulled the duvet over her head to express her displeasure.

Aunt Wren could only bring Nunu out of the room when the other person declined to reply, not forgetting to close the door behind her.

Five minutes had passed by before Sarah finally registered the words that she had just heard.

She sat up straight on the bed and scratched the back of her head mindlessly as she mumbled to herself, “Did she mean that… Jon’s here?”

Without wasting another second, she pushed the duvet away from her and leaped out of the bed swiftly.

She freshened up in the bathroom and changed into a new set of clothes within several minutes.

It was only until her hand wrapped around the door handle before leaving the room that she realized that she had overreacted. Why was she so excited about his return?

……

Jon was eating his breakfast at the dining table by the time Sarah shuffled down the stairs.

She watched him from the stairs through narrowed eyes.

He was wearing a light gray hoodie with a pair of pants in matching color. He was holding the newspaper in his left hand and a cup of coffee in his right. The man placed the newspaper down on the table after sipping on his coffee. He discovered Sarah who was standing on the staircase when he raised his head again.

Jon looked over his shoulder to instruct Aunt Wren who was positioned behind him, “Please serve another set of breakfast…”

“I’ll do that right away.” Aunt Wren nodded before disappearing into the kitchen.

Sarah dragged herself to the man slowly. “Goo… Good morning,” she stuttered.

Jon threw a glance at the watch on his wrist before lifting his head to meet her gaze. “It’s not early anymore…”

Her face was flushing red from embarrassment. She was nervous to meet the man again after not seeing him for several days.

Sarah took the seat opposite Jon. She raised her head, hoping to meet his gaze again, only to find out that he had shifted his attention away from her and was currently gracefully enjoying his breakfast.

She detected an awkward tension in the air but she could not quite explain the reason.

“Did you… Come home last night?” She tried to force a conversation despite having nothing important to converse about.

Jon lifted his head to regard her. Sarah became flustered under his gaze and she suddenly did not know where to place her hands.

“Yup, it was almost dawn when I returned.”

Taking into account that it might be dangerous because of the crowd, Jon contacted the management of the ski resort personally and arranged for them to utilize the VIP passage. There were also other types of entertainment in the natural ski resort apart from skiing. The place was filled with quite a crowd although it was still not entirely opened to the public.Jon, who was not interested in this way of entertainment, was smoking alone in the waiting area. The entire snowfield entered his sight when he looked out of the French windows.Numerous people in sleds skied down from the slope in the flash of a silhouette. The sound of happy laughter and terrified shrieks filled the air.Among the crowd, a girl who was wearing a yellow sled suit grabbed Jon’s attention. She was skiing down gracefully but speedily from the highest point of the slope. A man wearing a red sled suit behind her appeared nervous as he crawled and rolled down from the slope. The girl looked over her shoulder an

Sarah propped herself up on the bed to reach for her phone. It was not even 8:00 a.m. yet.She scratched her messy bed hair absentmindedly. It was normal for her to feel frustrated when she got out of bed in the morning. After a quick freshening up, she shuffled down the stairs in her slippers.Elder Shadwin was speaking over the phone in the living room. Sarah could guess who he was speaking to just by the expression on the man’s face.Sarah’s uncle lived in the military base all year round. He rarely came home even for the festivals. On the other hand, his wife, who had been staying in France to help with their son’s study had settled down in France when the latter decided to stay abroad to pursue his career after graduation. Due to a hectic work schedule, Sarah could count on her fingers the times her aunt and cousin came home.Elder Shadwin appeared animated as he conversed with his son. He did not even notice when Sarah came down the stairs. The girl walked past her grandpa

Elder Shadwin turned around to notice Sarah changing into outdoor shoes by the door. “Where are you going again?”She made up a lie. “I left something behind at Maddy’s. I’m going to get it now!”The old man rose from the couch. “Why don’t you get Aunt Diane to retrieve it for you? It’s cold outside. Must you do it right now?”The girl pushed the door wide open, ignoring her grandpa’s concern.…… To say that Shadwin Residence was massive was an understatement. Sarah knew that it would take some time for Jon to reach the main gate. She took a shortcut by skipping the small-scale golf course and dashed for the back door right away.Shadwin Residence was a manor-style villa that occupied a large land area in the shape of an oblique triangle. If Sarah left through the back door, she would reach the side road that led to the main road in a short linear distance. She picked up her pace and began running in the end. Her brain was teeming with tangle thoughts that she could barely sor

Indeed, Sarah had always seen Jon and Jaclyn together in the past few days. That encounter in the clubhouse was a good example. She felt a surge of anger as she was reminded of Jaclyn’s flirtatious attitude.Maddy, who was sitting next to her, blinked back blankly as he posed the question, “Sarah, what are you planning to do?”Sarah lifted her eyes to throw him a deathly glare as she snatched the phone from his hand simultaneously. “What else can I do?!”She copied the content of the Weibo post and delivered it to Quentin’s WeChat without hesitation.A mischievous smile spread across Maddy’s face. “You cunning little fox. I think you really don’t wish the Groves a peaceful New Year. Your dad will definitely fly off the handle when he reads this news…”“…”Sarah refused to comment. She returned the cell phone to Maddy after getting back on Jaclyn. For reasons unknown to herself, she suddenly felt more upset than before…She was getting ready to leave after enjoying the high-tea

I Am Not Marrying The President   Chapter 47 Are You Being Serious?

Two days before Chinese New Year, Jaclyn was shouting angrily at her agent in the corridor of Central Hospital.“Are you being serious? Didn’t you tell me that you’re acquainted with the mid-level leader of that website? Why haven’t you sorted this out?! How could they take the liberty to block my Weibo account? I’m a public figure and they’ve just violated my privacy. That’s illegal!”Vivian, the agent, appeared in a dilemma. She endured the reproach before trying to advise the other woman, “Elder Sister Jaclyn, please try to calm down. I’ve told my friend about this but he mentioned that it’s really out of his control. Although we live in a world of technology, you have thousands upon thousands of fans thus this might be inappropriate…”Jaclyn’s facial features twisted but she stood her ground. “What do you mean that it’s inappropriate? I’ve been beaten up by a group of people for no reason but I can’t even post several photos? Have I violated any law? I’m just trying to demand ju

Charles was concerned about his younger brother’s indifferent attitude toward Penny. After all, he had been through the same journey. He was rather worried about his younger brother’s married life in the future. Jon had already walked toward them to greet Rolyn before Charles realized it.Rolyn fixed her attention on Jon as the latter took his seat. Her gaze was filled with gratification. “To be honest, I wasn’t too confident when I operated on you three years ago.”“Oh?” Jon smiled politely at the woman.Doctor Rolyn was an adorable woman. She appeared full of life although she was already in her fifties. Her eyes curled into nice arcs when she smiled and she also had two huge dimples on the side of her cheeks. She spoke slowly while she gestured her hands in the air simultaneously. “I often come across cases like yours.
