Chapter 71

Miss Susan was shocked and hurriedly patted Winson’s back to comfort him. Suddenly recalling something, she looked at young master Blake and said, “I remember that just when the young mistress Jessica is about to go out, that’s when young master Winson starts to cry.”

She also remembered that when Jessica informed her that she was heading out, there was a sorrowful look on her face. Adding to the fact that she had reddish eyes, it is as if she had been crying a while ago.

Usually, whenever Jessica went out somewhere, she would always bring Winson along with her, unless it was to go to work.

Suddenly, something clicked in Blake’s mind, a feeling of unease rushed through him. Carrying Winson with him, he rushed to the second bedroom and opened the closet.

Seeing the neatly hung clothes inside, he breathed a sigh of relief.

Just when he was passing by the bathroom, he noticed the door was open. From the edge of his eyes, he saw water droplets on the wall of the recently used shower. Taking a closer look, he also noticed the white Cheongsam dress he chose for his wife in the laundry basket. The unkempt manner of the dress looked like it was thrown away like a piece of dirty cloth.

Blake started to get furious, his face was gloomy and his forehead creased.

In the living room, Miss Susan called out to him but he did not answer. Taking Winson along, he headed out of the house.

Just when he was about to head to the garage, a black Porsche drove to a halt by the side of the road nearby. When the door opened, Blake saw his wife coming out of the car.

She bent down a little, speaking to the driver in sign language.

Winson who immediately recognized his mother pointed towards her and said, “Mama, I want mama…”

Still in his father’s arms and unable to move anywhere, the young boy’s body started to shift towards the direction of his mother.

The look on Blake’s face said it all. The man was gripped with anger. His eyes opened wide, staring so hard one could see the searing flames in his eyes. His gaze fixed on Jessica, who was waving and moving her arms about, seemingly in a good mood.

Thomas Wayne!

Across the road, Jessica was thanking Thomas for fetching her.

Although Thomas lived near the area, she felt the need to thank him for his trouble. Moreover, her mood drastically improved thanks to his counsel.

Just when she was done and turned around, she was greeted by Blake who was choking on his rage.

“How dare you abandon Winson, your only son over a stupid date! You have some guts woman!” He exclaimed.

Just like that, her brightened mood fizzled away like the air from a popped balloon.

Anger rose in her like a tide, her body quivered with fury.

Her jaw clenched and her lips pursed, Jessica glared at Blake.

She did not wish to fight with him in front of their kid.

Hearing what Blake said from afar, Thomas came out of his car. With both hands tucked away in his pockets, he mockingly uttered, “Master Ferguson, if you really do care about your wife’s feelings, then stop with the senseless berating.”

No one knew at that time, about the rage that flooded Blake’s veins.

He thought Jessica merely went out for a walk to let off some steam, worried that she might go and cause trouble while in a bad mood. Well good for her, now she has a male confidant to be her emotional sponge.

Not bad Jessica, not bad. You barely ever met him, yet you told him everything!

Jessica gritted her teeth, her eyes now locked in a stare with Blake’s. In his heart, she was already a completely useless person, and now she was someone that went about telling people everything?

Thomas looked on towards the couple, now locked in an emotional standstill. Jessica seemed like a gentle person but possessed a stubborn temper. This trait he was well familiar with.

If he were to let Jessica be reprimanded by Blake back home, this would affect her emotional condition drastically. He decided that clarifying the matter would be best.

In a gentle tone, he explained, “Master Ferguson, Jessica was with me to discuss work. I can assure you she did not tell me anything.”

“…”

“Mind your own business.”

Only facing towards Thomas now, Blake looked at him with a gaze as cold as the tone of his voice, and said, “Why would ever I need an outsider to meddle with my family affairs?”

Raising his head into the air, Thomas let out a slight chuckle. He then glanced at Blake and retorted, “When do I ever have the time to dip my fingers in others’ family matters. Jessica is not just a friend, but also a fellow colleague. As her friend and partner at work, I feel the need to step in and speak out for her, you have a problem with that?”

He took a step forward and stared at Blake, which stared back in return.

The two men were now staring in confrontation.
