Chapter 4 (Sorry)

Every day I always see mom and dad fighting. My older brother is always away in the morning and has a gig at night so he doesn't know it.

He also always visits  Anna. I

At eight o'clock in the evening I was on the floor with both hands covering my ears.

"Why Alfonso ?! Why ?! Don't you feel sorry for this family? I love you so much Alfonso! Don't!"

I was annoyed by mom's shout while restraining papa. I got up and peeked at the door and saw dad carrying two suitcases.

He will leave us. It breaks my heart to see the mother clinging to the father's thigh. How did this happen? Where was ylour perfect and quiet family then ?

"What is it Mona! Let go of me!"

"Alfonso no! Don't leave us!"

I ran to my mother and pulled her in my arms. I stared at my father even though my eyes were full of tears.

"Leave and never come back ! By the time you get out of this house you will never come back dad! "

He cannot speak.

"And this is the last time I will call you my daddy. Because from now on I have no father."

My heart aches as I remember the past nights he hurt mom and the frequent fights they had with my brother because of that. I turned my heart away from him.

"Ara! Don't say that!" mom stopped me. 

"I can't! I just have to! For at least, even in words we can get revenge, right? If you do not feel sorry for yourself, have mercy on us."

I turned my back on them. It's like I just want to leave and forget what happened. seems like a bad dream I want to wake up.

The next day I did not wake up early. I feel my heavy and swollen eyes. I found Anna in the living room.

I smiled. "Hello Anna! Who's with you?"

She smiled at me. "Your older brother and your mom are talking now. "

"Ara, if you want to say something you can talk to me huh? I'm just here."

"Thank you Anna,I try to be strong for mom."

"You should just know that you are the only one's who can help each other. Just in case you need someone to talk to, I'm just here."

From second floor of our house ,I saw mama and kuya come down. His older brother just had a cold expression and did not seem to be affected by our father's departure. But I knew he was angry but chose to be quiet.

Because a problem cannot be solved if another problem is added. 

"Ara." Mom and Santi sat in front of my sister and me.

"You will go with your brother to the province."

My forehead furrowed.

"How about you mom?"

They looked at each other brother. My older brother was just looking at me. I don't what he was thinking.

"I will stay here first.There's a lot to do at school today . Besides, you are there for a while and you still need to enroll in the University that your older brother attends. So I have to work. "

"But Mom-"

"Just listen Ara." I cut off what I was going to say because of my older brother. I nodded slowly.

Santi took mom to school so Anna and I were left here.

"Anna, what do you want to eat? The fridge is empty. It's pure meat." I was still scratching my head.

Sje sniffed and thought. "What if we go to the mall and eat there?" It made me smile.

I laughed. "Can you be exposed to the mall Anna?"

"Of course.Santi's just strict to me."

'' Why is it not allowed? Like what?"

"He doesn't want me to wander around in smokey area because I might not be able to breathe. You know, he also doesn't want me to touch his cellphone now."

I thought of my older brother's video. I knew it before . That date because they were not yet with relationship with Anna.

"Anna, even Santi doesn't want us to touch his things."

"Yes, ever since. All right! Let's go!"

I could do nothing but give Anna what she wanted. I took her to the mall and we ate what she wanted.

We were eating lasagna when her cellphone suddenly rang.

"Who is that?"

She smiled. "Oh, Santi is looking for me."

I blinked and looked at my own cellphone but there was no text and call.

"Let's go home?" I offered. 

"Wait, I want to buy something outside.You know those cross necklaces? Those are sell on the street.I will take it to the church and I will pray. "

"I know that sister but it's crowded and smoky! You can't."

"Oh, my energy is strong right now. I also rested for a few months. All right, please!"

I did nothing again. Total, we're going on vacation too so I'll give it a go. It's only once.

We crowded the road to buy rosary beads and tulip flowers.

"Are you sure you're okay?" I asked her and we walked hand in hand.

"Sure. I hate men when I look at them."

"Let go sister. We are beautiful."

We both laughed. There was a man in a hurry and suddenly snatched the pouch I was carrying. 

"Thief!" I shouted and pulled my pouch. My brother just bought my cellphone. He even woke up at his gig to buy me a cellphone. 

 Anna slapped the man but he pushed her and pulled my pouch!

"Help! Thief!" I shouted. The lady and child heard us but even they were scared too.

"Will you let go or will I stab you !?" The man in the hat shouted.Anna and the man are grabbing a bag.

"You bastard! Let go!" Anna shouted and pulled the bag. 

The man suddenly pulled out a knife and my eyes widened as he stabbed Anna.

"Anna!!" My eyes widened and the cold spread through my body. I saw that her white t shirt was red because of the blood.

Suddenly I could not breathe. I let go of my pouch and the man was running.

"Oh my god!" I started to cry when I saw she's harldy breathing  and she  twisted in pain.

Well, someone helped us. Things went fast as if I was going to explode.

I blame myself because of what happened. 

I was outside the emergency room and I was crying incessantly.

The sound of shoes lifted my gaze and I saw that Santi's with Anna's sister's mom. My nervousness increased.

"What happened to my daughter?" Her mother asked me crying.

I can not talk. I just stared at them and I was nervous.

I just saw my older brother angry and he almost punched me.

"She is inside the emergency room .."

I was in tears because I was so nervous that Anna might be hurt. Suddenly my older brother grabbed my arm and dragged me out.

"Santi..."

He dragged me to the hospital parking lot and  then let me go. We are in the dark.

From the moonlight I saw he combed his hair violently. 

"Do you know what you did Ara?" He ask this question and held my hand tightly again .

"Santi I didn't mean to .. "

"You didn't mean to but why did you let her out?!"

My ear almost broke because of his shout and the pain seemed to penetrate my heart.

"S-Santi .."

"You know she's sick but you still allow it ?!"

"S-Sorry..sorry .."

"Now look what happened!"

"Santi I'm sorry .."I cried incessantly.

"You better to leave.."

I grabbed his arm but he violently rejected my hand.

"Get out!"

I nodded next and I was afraid to turn around. I did not glance at him again out of fear.

I went home alone and without anyone.
