Of All The Wolves In Oxford.
Author: HF WessonI was tired, no scratch that I was absolutely exhausted. Training had been heavy, and my muscles ached as I moved. I flung open the door, headed to the kitchen and almost cried in pure happiness at the sight of the fridge. Food, I thought greedily, my dearest most loyal friend how I have missed your deliciousness. I scanned the shelves for something good to eat, my mind moving to upcoming events.
Meg would be home soon, hauling in her new fiance. I hadn't met the bloke yet, they had been on a romantic cruise getaway all summer. Now that they were back, I'll finally be able to see him in the flesh. She sounded happy over the phone and I was happy for her, just a little too tired and sweaty to be excited right at this moment.
But then, just as my eyes landed on the grapes, the most incredible scent filled the kitchen. Dark coffee beans dancing impossibly well with the soft freshness of a summer rain
"No," I whispered. "No, that's impossible."
I spun around, slamming the fridge door shut. A tall boy with toned arms, broad shoulders and chestnutty hair stood watching me. His chest heaved as he breathed in my own scent, and I saw his warm brown eyes flash green just before he pushed me hard up against the cold surface of the fridge.
"Mine" he growled softly.
My wolf screamed 'mate' in my head and it took everything in me to block her out. He kissed hurridly at my neck and I bit my lip hard to stop from moaning.
"Get off me." I tried, the words sounding strange and course.
He growled lowly near my ear, his lips still grazing my neck. He was an alpha, I knew it immediately. Taking orders went against his nature. His very presence was programmed to expect respect. Not only had I given him an order, but my struggles were also direct disobedience.
He pushed me harder into the fridge and I struggled uselessly against his iron grip. All the while fighting internally with my wolf. She was desperately trying to take over and I could feel her starting to win. With the last of my strength, I flicked my wrists, turning them to paws. With a growl, I sunk my claws into his shoulders, making him freeze.
"My sister is going to walk in, in less than 30 seconds. If she sees us like this, it will crush her."
He tightened his grip and stared angrily into my eyes.
"And if you hurt my sister, I'll kill you myself."
He was furious. So was I. But I was also right, and he knew it. Growling, he stepped back and a second later Meg walked in.
"Carrie!" She squealed, skipping into the kitchen and latching onto the arm of the boy who had me locked against the fridge only moments before.
"I see you've met my Ben."
All I managed was a nod, the sight of them together made my stomach churn. Meg began talking, most probably about their cruise. I couldn't process a word she was saying.
"So anyway we're going to have a movie night tonight, wanna join us?"
Her question snapped me out of my slow moment and I shook my head viciously. My wolf was growling at me in my mind, clawing to get Meg off Ben and leave her with some deep-set scars in the process. I ignored her.
"I'm actually not feeling great. I think I'll go up to my room."
I listened as Meg whined about my absence from her themed movie night. Apologised again, then all but fled to my room. Once in the safety of my dark purple walls, I let the panic set in. Why, of all the wolves in oxford did I have to mate with him? My whole life had been about my mission, having a mate never entered my mind long enough for serious consideration.
"Crap," I whispered, running a hand through my chocolatey waves. "what the hell do I do now?" I asked softly. There was no answer and the quiet emptiness of the room consumed me.
*************
"Why won't he just leave? This is ridiculous!"
Joe's laugh played musically over my phone's speaker.
"It's a movie night Carrie, they tend to take a while."
I sighed heavily and threw another shirt into my overnight bag. Fighting against my wolf was taking its toll. I was beginning to actually feel sick. Jocelyn had agreed to a last-minute sleepover and I could not be more grateful. I could not spend the entire night with my wolf howling for me to go downstairs to Ben.
"I'll be there in five," I said while squeezing the phone against my shoulder and cheek, dropping to my knees to look for my other shoe.
A few minutes later after double knotting my left sneaker, I was creeping along the landing toward the stairs. Each step felt ridiculously squeaky, as though the whole house was mocking me for the mess I was caught up in But eventually, I had burst through the front door, I dropped to my knees, my wolf screaming for me to turn back. My stomach churned and my head throbbed as I fought her. Hands wrapped around my waist and in moments I was on my feet.
"Relax Carrie, I'm here."
Immediately my wolf calmed and I drew in a shaky breath,
"Ben."
His hands still held my waist and his coppery eyes were dark. They churned against mine, his hands still tight around my waist.
"Do you always fight against her like this?"
I didn't appreciate his scrutiny, what was going on with my wolf, was my business. I kept my gaze steady, gritting my teeth, "not always. Not in battle."
He looked surprised, it made me smile. I liked the fact that I was able to unsteady him, even if it was only slightly
"You fight?" He asked, searching my face.
"I'm a guardian," I replied, not breaking my stare.
I loved my job, granted it was dangerous, and involved a lot of fighting, but I loved it. Working with a group, having no alpha, giving help to any and all packs against rouges. We were a type of FBI for werewolves, it was an absolute thrill.
Ben shook his head slightly, "that will have change when you become Luna."
My wolf rejoiced at the word but my own eyes flashed. "Good thing I'm not becoming a Luna anytime soon then."
His eyes darkened, full of authority, "Carrie." He warned softly.
I shook my head refusing to let him affect me, "You're engaged to my sister, we aren't mates. This is obviously some kind of mistake."
He looked me up and down, soft amusement dancing in his eyes, "You're wolf disagrees."
Defiance tightened in my chest and I growled angrily. "Let me go."
He growled back, stepping closer. "I don't take orders, Carrie."
"You aren't my alpha or my mate, release me," I replied, my voice rising.
He pulled me closer, his eyes darker than what I would've thought possible. "Eventually you're going to have to stop lying to yourself."
My wolf was going nuts in my mind and my head throbbed harder.
"You're in love with my sister." I tried. It hurt to say, my wolf howled in pain at the thought.
Ben's eyes softened, "But you're my mate, Carrie."
I shook my head frantically, pulling away from him.
"No, no I'm not."
He watched me struggle, his grip never loosening. His ego angered me, and I felt my hands changing again. My fingers shortening, growing claws, chocolatey fur covering my skin. I sunk my claws into his forearm and kicked at his chest.
He let me go, more out of exasperation than anything else. He had more than enough power to take me on, an alpha of his size and strength could break my legs without breaking a sweat in a real fight. I sprinted away, my flicking my wrist back as I turned the corner.

Fighting Fate Convos And Camping
Bonolo helps us set up camp as she explained what had happened. Rent, his guards, and Dante had tracked us as far as they could before she had teleported to their rescue, bringing a plan in the form of volant sweets. They had argued for at least ten minutes on who should actually use a Valant sweet and get into the cave to save Ben and me until eventually, Dante won Ching Chong Cha. Rent was still not thrilled that he didn't get to go, and muttered about how he was probably a better flyer. Once the fire was made, and the camp was settled, Bonolo and I walked a little away from the others to talk."I can't thank you enough Bonolo, I don't really know why it is you're helping us. But I'm so glad you are."Bonolo's beautiful dimpled face warmed into a smile."It's my pleasure, Carrie. I am happy you are safe."I gripped her hand, "this isn't the first
Fighting Fate Friends And Falling
CARRIE'S POV"How did you even get up here?" I asked while Dante clicked the lock on my cell open."Would you believe me if I said buzz lightyear lent a hand?"I raised an eyebrow, "no."Dante sighed, "that would be cool though.""I rolled my eyes and tried to help pull at my lock from the inside. "Buzz Lightyear? How old are you six?""And a half." Replied Dante instantlyBen rolled his eyes, huffed and moved Dante over, taking the metal clip Dante had brought to pick the locks from him. Ben's hands, warm and strong, gently lifted mine off the lock. He met my eyes and I stepped back dumbly, looking away. Ben picked my lock in seconds. "So, buzz lightyear aside, how the hell did you find us? And what's your escape plan?"Dante grinned and pulled two round pink powdery sweets
Fighting Fate Sexual Tension And Screaming
BEN'S POV!I sighed and a ran a hand through my hair. Carrie wasn't supposed to find out like this. I wanted to tell her slowly, ease her into it. Now, she was absolutely fuming."Yes, I'm a prince. The firstborn males of the alpha's of the three biggest packs every twenty years are technically royalty."Carrie let a puff of disbelief, "so what? All the eldest children of these alphas have some huge battle to decide the new alpha king?"chewed nervously on my lip, "basically, yeah."Carre growled, "did you ever plan on telling me? Or was that thought not able to make it through your thick head?"I sighed, that sharp tongue of hers never failed."I was going to tell you, I just didn't really know-how."She scoffed and I took a step forward in my cell holding onto the bars, and trying to make out her silhouette in the darkness of the cell across
Fighting Fate Breeding And Royalty
CARRIE'S POV!we were still flying. It felt like I had been the air for hours. Ben and I had tried to fight the creatures but to no avail. There were just too many. They were tall creatures, with the long rubbery legs of chickens and gigantic dust grey and black wings. One of the creatures was currently holding onto my forearms as it flew over the mountains below us. Ben was being transported in the same sort of way a few meters behind while the rest of the creatures flew around me in a flock formation.Blood was dripping down my cheeks were one of the creatures had scratched me during the fight in the forest and my arms were beginning to hurt where the creature's claws wrapped around my skin. Finally, the gaping entrance of a cave showed itself in the distance. The cave was at the very top of a high, as in look down and you'll be sick high, as in fall and you'll die high cliff.

RENT'S POV "Where the hell are they?" I demanded, pacing up and down the cave.My two guards looked at each other, then back at me, then shrugged.I rolled my eyes, it looked like they had rehearsed it."It's been too long, I want you to track them."Dante scrambled up beside me, rolling his eyes, "you're being paranoid.""I didn't ask for your input pretty boy."Dante shook his head, breathing out angrily as he looked away from me.We walked out of the cave, my men began putting their skills to use, leading us up to a dark and deserted Forrest."There was a struggle" Bently, my eldest guard said.I nodded looking around the scuff marks and footprints."They were taken." Said my other guard, Bradly.I ran a hand through my hair, panic rising in my blood."What?" Asked Dante, now co
Fighting Fate Sexual Tension Is Distracting
BEN'S POVWe'd been walking for hours. Carrie stayed at the back of the group, keeping her head down as she walked. Dante stayed in front of her, he too was lost in thought, and they didn't speak, much to my relief. Seeing them, laughing the way they did, The way he looked at her, it took everything in me not to rip out his throat as they came up from their swim. Carrie couldn't see it. She was infuriating. Blind, gorgeous and fucking infuriating. The sun was beginning to sink, and we were still walking uphill, near the rocky mountains. A nipping breeze blew against us every now and again, and I wondered if Carrie was cold. Her chocolate waves were blowing into light tangles across her face when the wind blew and I tried to see if she was shivering, but I was too far in front of her.We kept walking, only stopping when the stars sprung
