Author: Devil_queenPROLOGUE - Planet Arkeen
Blood! She had been dragged away from the place, from the pool of blood, but her little fingers were still covered in blood. The image of the two people who were in their blood, the image of the man and woman who were once their parents; it remained in her memory with agonizing clarity, could not be erased from her mind, never again.
Her eyes were full of tears, her insides frozen; she did not see the now, did not react to the brutal hand that clasped her upper arm, she was only vaguely aware of the black, tall figure, human-like and yet strange, hated. The creature was negotiating with the man who held it. The girl did not understand their conversation, did not want to understand.
Many things that had once belonged to her father and mother were taken out of the grotesque caricature and after a short bargaining passed into the possession of the man, including herself. She no longer owned anything, they took everything away from her that she held in hers Parents remembered; only a small, inconspicuous object, a cheap locket she held hidden in her bloody hand.
Not much later, the man was dragging her toward a ship that rose slim, needle-shaped against the sky. For a moment she looked at it, saw the sky, looked at the sun, not knowing that she had seen it for the last time for many years, that for many years she would not see the sun of this planet or that of any other.

Planet Ivarn
There were two men in the magnificent room, two men who - both in terms of appearance and inner mood - could not be more different. One - Raft AkRrovaar - stood in front of the other, who was sitting in a comfortable armchair, and yet barely towered over him. With his flowing, red hair and the long, bushy beard, he looked like a slightly shortened, but incredibly broad and massive Viking. In fact, his face was wider than it was long; with thick eyebrows, and a bulbous nose and a wide, recessed mouth that betrayed pleasure, as did the wrinkles in the corners of the eyes. The eyes were dark, the gaze intense.
Raft came from Romjen, a planet with one and a half times the earth's gravity. The people who settled there - perhaps actually very late descendants of the Vikings - were shaped by Romjen within a few generations: they were given a stocky, but enormously strong physique with relatively short, massive limbs, with enormous muscles. At Raft, however, this was currently covered by an extremely impractical robe decorated with ruffles and lace on the wrists. The shirt and pants were purple and also defaced with playful abstract patterns. A wide belt held the massive figure together and served as an anchor for a dagger sheath. The dagger itself was the only piece of clothing that lacked a playful touch. It was obviously chosen for its deterrent and deadly effectiveness.
The man was not holding the dagger in his broad hand, but a glass of bright green Nijem wine from his own cultivation.
The other man was slim and tall, had blond, slightly wavy hair that was currently in a mess, a high forehead, slightly slanted, gray-blue eyes, currently directed towards the other man, under thick black brows. The eyes had the remarkable ability to see equally sharply both on land and in water. His beardless face was rather narrow, as were his mouth and nose. The hands were slender and had webbed pimples as a special feature, which, however, did not even reach the middle of the first phalanges when relaxed. This peculiarity, which was even more pronounced on the narrow, long-toed feet, identified him as a man from the lagoon planet Wägan. Tjonre SoErgen, darkly robed and unarmed, looked sadly at the person opposite.
"What do you look so grouchy," said the deep voice of the red, "take a glass of Nijem, self-made, and enjoy life". The somberly dressed looked even darker, but did not deign to answer. Raft in no way lost its good mood. He was grinning at him now, with such a wide mouth a truly terrifying expression. “What you are missing is a woman! Let's go into town to see Evwan, he has the most beautiful and willing girls and the best Avon beer, which is also not to be despised! ”
“ I'm not interested in prostitutes, you know that. And I can't take Nijem and Avon so much that it is hardly worthwhile to start drinking. ”Tjonre turned his gaze to a nearby fruit bowl and grabbed a head-sized melon-like fruit with both hands, which he stared intently at. "At least you are not recommending one of the daughters of the neighboring landlords to me."
Raft shuddered, "Brr, better not! Then even better take one of our slaves! The drought with the long brown hair, what's it called,
ought to be exactly the size of your collar. ” Tjonre didn't know what it was called or he just didn't want to say it, at least he didn't answer for a while. Then he remarked: “I definitely don't do anything with a slave! How should I know that she actually has something for me, she has no choice but to please me. Besides, she's not the right company for a brooder like me. She is very fun-loving and likes to be the center of attention for my taste. By the way: she is not skinny. No, I'd rather stay here, alone ”, he emphasized this word,“ and brood. ”
“ Tjonre, you are not a monk, so don't live like that - but you are a fool! Thanks to the federation you have a considerable estate, you are not one of the big landlords, but also not exactly the smallest, you own land with considerable Nijem cultivation area, a beautiful manor house, dozens of slaves who work for you ... "
" Exactly! Why slaves! I hate slavery! There are machines that could do the work on the winery and in the cellar and house ... "
“If we were to design or buy machines and use them, we would soon be dead, you know that,” replied Raft, “the masters of this planet from the OrPhon family are liquidating anyone who could be dangerous to them and any machine that is more complicated than electric light or an automatic door opener could perhaps - at least in their eyes - be used as a weapon. Whoever has no technology, no weapons, no means of communication, no education, cannot threaten them. Use machines or behave somehow differently than the other landowners and your cover is gone! Then you can put on a sign that says 'Agent of the Federation' right away. ”

She nodded gratefully and lowered herself carefully - mobilizing her last reserves - down the steep wall. Only in the rough rock of the chimney did she feel safe. Gjefren was also exhausted and tried to really concentrate on every move on the descent. Finally they stood in front of the two warriors and Gjefren was now very impressed both by their stature and by their elaborately crafted black armor. The one who fell first lay there like a carelessly discarded giant doll, destroyed. The other had no obvious wounds."Amazing that you could escape such warriors!" Gjefren looked at her respectfully.“My jump over the bridge was an act of desperation. The alternatives would have been imprisonment and endless agony in the torture chambers of Askhauran. The witch never left me in doubt about that. Drowning or a skullhit on a rock would have been comparatively merciful. ” Gjefren turned away and wanted to go to the camp when suddenly life came into one of the supposed cor

The men seemed to be good climbers, because Gjefren heard loud breathing noises and the occasional gasp but no swearing. Much earlier than expected, he saw a large, hairy hand reach over the edge of the ledge. Nonetheless, he reacted instantly and smashed the big stone at the tarantula-like thing. The hand was withdrawn immediately and Gjefren heard an angry and surprised cry. Then he sat up, lifting the chunk over his head, looked over the edge, looked into the guardsman's ugly face, and let the rock crash down on the man's head. He lost his footing, screamed again and fell down, waving his arms and obviously trying to land legs first, but he couldn't. Gjefren would never forget the expression on his face or the sound of the hitting body. The second pursuer, who now threatened loudly, had been able to hold on, a fact Gjefren had not planned for. The man began to climb down hastily, but Gjefren had already reached for another, much larger rock, lifted it with difficulty, and t

Then he saw a glaring flash in the distance and realized almost immediately that the sun was reflected in a helmet. Immediately he took cover behind the bushes that grew on the edge of the plateau. Athaly paused for a moment to then follow his example. "What is it, are they coming?""I saw a light reflex up there." He pointed in the appropriate direction. "I think so."She stared hard and whispered. "Can you make out how many there are?" Gjefren shook his head. “I don't think there's any point in hiding,” she said. “They'll look for my body and won't rest until they find it and bring it back. Or take me prisoner again. They belong to the witch's guard and they know exactly what will happen to them if they return without me. ”“ Which witch? ”He wanted to know.“The witch of Askhauran! She is famous for her cruelty. Nobody knows where she comes from, but rumor has it that she killed the old ruling couple and bewitc

"Athaly. Yes, horses are much faster, at least if the ground isn't too rocky. Horses are not that good at carrying loads, so it might be a good thing that you have a donkey as a companion. ”She looked briefly into space, then seemed to have made up her mind. “Gjefren, there is no point. If they see you with me, they will kill you! Maybe even the donkey, you don't know. I will stay here and wait for her and you will ride further downstream. Hopefully when I'm dead they'll turn around, then you're in no danger! ”Gjefren pretended to be indignant, but was astonished that she was so interested in the fate of a complete stranger. He looked angrily at her. "You don't think I'll let you down!"Athaly nodded. "But! You have to do it. Each of them is a head taller than you and broader shouldered, and the witch is sure to send more than one man after me. You wouldn't even have a chance if you are very practiced in combat. ”She eyed him intently, especially skeptically his u

She still looked confused, but also amused. “Then please thank your Lord on my behalf. By the way, he's not a horse but a donkey. ”“ Not a horse? Then I was betrayed! ”Although Gjefren had no idea what a donkey was usually used for, he thought angrily back to the scene in Merida when it had become the target of general ridicule. He could have been informed of his error. His father could have described these mounts more precisely! Then he would have saved himself so many embarrassments! "Are you sure?"She coughed a little. "Mmm. Definitely. ”And after a short pause:“ Your hair. ”“ What about it? ”“ It shines. Shimmer! ”Involuntarily he grabbed his head. He couldn't forget to put on his leather hood like he had done in Merida. She waited for an answer, but when none came she raised her head to look around and saw her dress. Her eyes, whose lids were half-mast before, widened. He had the impression that her hands were quickly feeling her body under the cover

After a short rummage he found what he was looking for and ran back, holding the opened object in front of her mouth. He put his head next to hers and looked at the reflecting surface, saw that it was fogging up. Well. Pulse. He pressed his index and middle fingers to the side of his neck before it occurred to him that you couldn't breathe without a heartbeat and that this action was pointless. Still, it was very comforting to feel him very slow and weak. So the main problem was hypothermia. He brought the mirror back, got his only fluffy blanket and two towels. He spread the blanket over the flat rock, warm from the sunshine, on which he had previously sat. Then he undid the three buttons on the front of the dress and peeled them off the cold, wet thing by pulling it down over his shoulders. Then he opened her sandals and took them off. Meanwhile, her eyelids moved a little, otherwise she remained passive like a doll.Gjefren took one of the towels and used it

"A robbery?", He asked his delightful companion, uncertain, who laughed heartily."Oh no! Just the normal din that a small, extended family brings with it. ”On entering the kitchen he saw Tjonre, who turned his back on him and was being attacked by an eight-year-old boy. He tried to

It came over the wide ridge of the sea. The man was extraordinarily ugly. A scar ran from left to right over the forehead, nose and probably also the cheek, but a thick black beard covered it there. When he walked, hunched over as if he had a humpback, he dragged one leg. And yet there was author
