Chapter 1

I was scared of the room I was kept in; only a little amount of light was coming through the window. I was sitting in the corner while hugging my knees. I buried my face within it. The hunger and the thirst I was going through was killing me inside. It was all because of my uncle I never imagined him to turn out like this. My parents passed away, and I don't even know how I asked my uncle about my parents, but he never answered. All I have is a necklace my parents gave me, and hold it tight while sobbing hard. Back then, my uncle used to be a cheerful person, but since my parents passed away, he finally started to show his true colours. All he wants is my parent's property, but I didn’t let him have it, so he started to tourte me.  I can’t even feel my body as it was covered with bruises which I got from that baster. I tried to run away from here a few times, but they end up bringing me back here and making thing even worse. As I was sobbing, I heard the doorknob turning on, but I didn’t even look as I exactly know who is behind it. I got a little scared as I heard the footsteps getting closer by every second.

?? how is my little niece doing??

I heard his voice, but I didn’t even dare to look at him, and that made him pissed.

?? Look at me when I‘m talking to you.

He forcefully grabbed my hair and pulled it, making me look at him. I saw his ugly smirk plastered on his face, which disgusts me.

?? oh I’m sorry did I hurt you, dear!

He let go of my hair, but I glare at him in anger. He starts to laugh like a manic.

I was grabbing a knife which he left unknowingly last time when he was here. I put it behind me so that he won’t know what I was going to do? He threw a file and a pen on the floor in front of me and then put his hand in his pocket.

??: Look I am going to give you two choices. Sign this document, and I will let you go or –

“I will never do it; my parents worked hard to build the big Empire; I won’t give it away and especially to a person like you.

??: Ok then another option, I guess?

“What do you mean?”

??: My son is coming from oversea today and he’s gonna be here anything soon.

Get ready because your gonna marry him.

My eye widens and he smirks “keep dreaming” I said as I tightened my grip on the knife I was holding before he could know it I stab him on the stomach. He fell on the floor, but his eyes were staring at me in anger. As a chance, I ran towards the door. As excepted, there were guards outside, and one of them saw me. He started to run towards me, but I grabbed his arm and turned it around in his back. He started to scream in pain, but then I snapped his neck, and he fell on the floor. The other guards saw me and started to rush towards me. I grabbed the gun from the guys pocket who was lying unconscious on the floor. I pointed the gun at them, and they stopped as they were not prepared for it. They were off guard as they didn’t expect such a situation, so they put their hands up. I feel glad that my dad had taught me self defence to protect myself. My eye started to fill up with tears remembering my dad, but then I quickly wipe it away and rushed toward the exit. I quickly got out of there and looked around to notice that it was already night and the sun was gone, and the darkness has taken over, even in this time lots of people were on the streets. I saw people were looking at me with strange looks, but I shrug it off and continue to run away from there. As I was running, I bumped into someone and dropped the gun. I was about to pick it up, but then I saw the guards and some few black cars coming toward me. I started to run away, but my feet hurt so much as I was running barefoot. I heard the guards telling me to stop, but I didn’t listen to them and continued running away.

I feel my legs giving up on me, I can’t run anymore I was about to fall on the ground, but I heard the cars getting near, but then I saw the forest area, which was restricted for humans to go in. Its was the end; I have always heard stories about the forest from my parents, they told me different creatures live there, the human was strictly restricted to enter the forest,

As there were rumours that whoever went in there won’t return.

I looked but only to see cars coming to my way, and I did what only thing comes into my mind is to run into the forest as fast as I can. I go deep into the forest,t hoping to lose those men, but unfortunately, this does not stop them. The drivers of the three-car slalom between the trees, avoiding them like professionals, but they were not speedy, which was good for me—the large trees which were working as a speed breaker. In panic and in the rush of getting rid of the,m I didn’t see where I was going, I was running in a straight direction. I was running out of breath; I was getting tired and losing hope. Only a few meters ahead of me, there is a small river. Small but dangerous, I don’t know how deep the river could be will I be died by drowning myself. I had no a choice, I had to jump, I had to take a chance to cross the river, I had two option, either I jump and have 50?50 chance of coming out alive, or I don’t jump, but death is certain.

Frankly, my choice was quickly made. “you are going to make it purple. Have confidence in you” I said to myself as I took a deep breath. Contending with the steps I had left before I jumped, I prepare myself psychologically for fate and gathered all the courage and determination it had in me.

Splash.. my body was completely submerged by water. No time to lose if I wanted to survive, I had to swim, which was not so easy a task because the flow of water was fast. Deafening noise was breaking the calm of nature, scaring away the bird that was perched on the trees in the area, Bullet holes were sinking into the water, and more than one of them almost burrowed into my flesh.

“I thought they wanted me alive “ Finally when I reached the other bank, the two-car was nowhere to be seen.

Yes, I finally lost them.

But of course, happiness never comes by itself. Several howls can be heard. I exactly knew what it was, my greatest fear and my fears are confirmed.
