DERA.

Throughout the car ride back home with Damilayo, we both remained silence. None of us uttered a word and the Eerie silence was killing me. Not even the radio was on and even though the A.C. was working just fine, I could feel my palm getting sweaty as I kept fidgeting.

I am way beyond sure that today is the day I die. Damilayo has never raised his hand at me before but today he might do worse than that. He could kill me and hide my body and no one would know, No one would even care. He could easily get away with it.

The familiar Entrance to our Estate comes into view and my heart races as the distance to the house got shorter and shorter until we were parked in front of the big White and grey building.

Damilayo comes out first and I follow him inside trailing behind him. He opens the door and to my surprise holds it open for me to enter. I hesitantly enter the house before I hear the door close behind me. He still didn't utter a word.

This is my chance to just run up the stairs to my room and never come out. Hopefully I'll last till Monday without food. I can do that.

But just when I take a step ready to race for the stairs Damilayo grabs my wrist almost like he sensed I was going to run away.

I slowly turn around to face him but I don't meet his eyes and he releases my hand.

"Stop moving around and look at me." He says irritably.

I freeze letting out a shaky breath. I hadn't even realised I was still fidgety. I raise my head but looked anywhere but at him.

"You're not looking at me Dera. Look me in the eyes."

I suck on my bottom lip shaking my head.

"Why can't you just look at me?!" His voice raises slightly and I flinch.

I meet his dark eyes momentarily. "it's not just you. I just can't make eye contact." I admit.

He scoffs. "No. It's just me." He closes the space between us.

"Because I watch you. You make eye contact with everyone else but me. Are you scared of me?" He asked and I shook my head.

"Then look at me. Look at me Dera." I feel his touch on my chin and I involuntarily flinch.

"You are scared of me."

"No, I'm not." I mutter.

"You were fidgeting throughout the car ride. Do you think I'll ever hit you Dera?" He asked and I look at him. I meet his dark void eyes.

"You're angry at me." I state.

He shakes his head. "I am Angry but not at you. All you did was speak your mind to Seun, I just happen to overhear it."

"Why did you tell me to stay away from Seun?" I ask curiously.

"Because I did something very bad to him-" he starts to say slowly and I cut him short.

"Stop talking to me like that. Like I'm retarded and can't understand you." I tell him.  He was talking to me like he was explaining something to a child.

He nods the corner of his lips lifting in an attempt to smile.

"I betrayed Seun. I know he's still angry at me and he might want to use you to get back at me." He admits.

I press my lips together. "W..what did you do to him?"

He seems hesitant to speak but he eventually caves in.

"I slept with his Ex girlfriend while they were still together."

My eyes widen and I suck on my bottom lip.

I didn't expect him to go further but he did anyways.

"Seun and I used to play girls together this was about two years before we got married. We both just got back from London since it was our long break from school.

We would pick a girl then each see her Separately. It was a game to us, first to have sex with her. To see who still had the charm. She was a tough one and She claimed to be a Virgin but I didn't believe that. Seun started going out with her and before I knew it things were escalating with them. I thought it was all part of the game but if I'm being honest with myself, some part of me knew what they had was genuine. I should have backed off but my ego was bruised that she had chosen Seun over me." He paused letting out a sigh.

"So I played her. It's true what they; that girls always fall easily for the bad boys but only end up with the good guys." I frown at his words and he decides to elaborate.

"What I mean is; Girls tend to fall quickly and easily for the bad boys who end up breaking their hearts and when the genuine ones come they give them a hard time because they've been broken before but they eventually end up with the good boys. That's what I did to her. I took her away genuine love and fed her with crap I knew I didn't mean.

I seduced her and turned out she was a Virgin. I left her in that hotel room alone and somehow Seun found out about a week later. We had a brawl that night."

Oh my God. Poor girl.

I can never imagine that happening to me. But would Seun really use me to get back at Damilayo.

"Seun didn't know I was married to you when we met. He seemed genuinely shocked to see me as Your Parent's anniversary party." I tell Damilayo who scoffs.

"You're too innocent for your own good. You have to open your eyes and see that People can be cruel sometimes. I was cruel to that girl so trust me when I say Seun knew who you were from the beginning and he would do anything to get revenge on me including use you." Damilayo says. I could see he solidly believed Seun was using me but what if he was wrong.

"Or Maybe you're just being Paranoid. Maybe he has actually moved on and your guilt is eating you up making you think he's out to get you." I try to reason.

"Jesus. Why do you have to be so naive?!" He exclaimed.

"And why do you think everything is about you?! What if he's actions are genuine. Is it so hard for you to believe that a guy would actually show interest in me?!" I slightly raise my voice.

He sighs. "I didn't mean what I said that day Dera."

I shake my head. "No you did and it's fine because even I believe that no man would ever show interest in me not even for sex."

I was just so tired of this conversation so I decide to go to bed even though it looked like it was just 7pm.

"Good night Damilayo." I mutter turning around and heading for the stairs. He kept calling my name urging me to stop but I didn't. I made a beeline to my room locking the door behind me.

Next Morning was Sunday and it's only then I realise my phone was off so I decided to just plug it and leave it at home. It's not like I'll use it in Church anyways.

After the morning Holy Mass, I was super tired for no reason. I just wanted to curl under my duvet and sleep. Normally I would go visit the Orphanage but I really didn't feel up to it so I called Katherine the caretaker to inform her I wouldn't make it.

I ended up going home luckily the traffic wasn't too bad though I feel asleep through out the ride but once I got home Tami woke me up and I took myself inside with my heels in my hands.

I almost had a heart attack when I pushed my door open only to find Damilayo sitting on my bed with my phone in his hand.

"What are you doing here?" I breathed. This is the first time he has stepped foot in my bedroom. I wonder how long he has been here. I took off my shirt wig throwing it on the bed.

"What is this?" He asked sternly handing me my phone. I see he's on my Instagram going through my page.

My eyes widen when I see I'm now sporting 50k followers.

Shit.

Seyifunmi really did work wonders. I go to the pictures the posted and I have to admit I almost didn't recognize myself.

"Look at the comments." I'm startled when his voices comes from behind me and my body is suddenly aware of his presence as I feel his breath on the exposed crook of my neck.

My eyes trail down to the phone in my hand and I click on the comments reading them. They weren't bad. It was your average type of comment.

Keep Slaying.

Looking great.

😻😻😻😻

There was a particular one that caught my attention.

- I want a wife like this. That's both Elegant and Chic and can also be a whore just for me. Your Husband is damn lucky.

I read the comment over and over again. I don't think I'm elegant nor am I chic. Wait- don't they mean the same thing? I honestly couldn't tell if there was something wrong with the comment. To me, It was a compliment in it's twisted way

I go to my DM and I'm surprised to see lots of message. There's a message from the same Profile that left that eye-catching comment.

- You look like so innocent but I bet you're real naughty eh?

Is that even an appropriate thing to say to some one you just started talking to?

Damilayo scoffs from behind me and my phone is suddenly snatched from me.

"No more Social media for you." He says sternly and I snort.

"You're joking. Right?"

"Do I look like I'm joking?" No. No he doesn't.

"There's nothing bad in the comments besides-

"And that guy? He's a Pervert. Just like every other guy in the World." He says and I can't help but roll my eyes.

"You're Exaggerating." I state.

"No. You're just too innocent. You don't have a clue how dangerous the world is for people like you."

I sigh folding my arms across my chest.

"And what's that supposed to mean?"

"Figure it out yourself. No phone for you." He says striding out of my room. I follow him.

"Wait- ah! I thought it was just social media. Damilayo stop. Give me back my phone!" I keep calling after him but he just ignores me.

"Damilayo Please...." I plead and only then does he stop turning to me.

"I really don't get what I did wrong. They're just pictures."

"They're not just pictures. You look like a Slut in these pictures. Especially the one were you wore that white bra-

"It's a crop top." I correct.

"It doesn't matter! It wasn't even covering anything then you even wore it out yesterday so the whole Lagos will know I'm Married to a Slut. Abi?"

I couldn't speak anymore. This is the last time I'm listening to anything Seyifunmi says. Because of her I've gone from a child to a Slut in Damilayo's eyes.

I press my lips together. "What do you now expect me to be doing with all my free time?"

"Watch a movie. If Nepa take light then ask the security to turn on the gen for you or you can read a book. But no Phone for you and you're restricted from leaving this house." He orders walking into his room and slamming the door shut.

From no Social media to no Phone now I'm stuck in this house to? What was he even doing in my room?

This is so not how I imagined my Sunday.

CHIDERA~ His Sin (A Nigerian Romance)   TWENTY FIVE~

DAMI. The alarm went off pulling me out of my slumber. Memories of last night flooded my head and I fought back the smiles that reach my lips. It finally registered that I had to go to work today as I had an important meeting with the shareholders. This meeting was initially for Monday which was the day after Dera’s birthday but there was no way I would leave her alone after what she went through. So rescheduled it for Tuesday but then I freaked out when I couldn’t find Dera that morning then the whole rape scandal came up and I rescheduled again so here we are. I smiled when I realized Dera was so thoughtful to set the alarm for me though I would have preferred it, if

DERA. I must have cried myself to sleep because when I woke I’m lying on the cold tiled floor and my phone is ringing nonstop from somewhere in the living room. I find it underneath one of the couch pillows and I see thirteen missed call from Seyifunmi. Just when I’m about to call her back, I get an incoming message from her.I know you’re angry and upset that’s why you’re not picking up any of my calls but I need you to go online now and watch Dami live. I read the message a second time just to be sure I read it well. I decide to go online on Instagram and I indeed find that Dami is live so I decide to join.“-My Wife and I had a fight and I don’t expect her to be watching this

CHIDERA~ His Sin (A Nigerian Romance)   TWENTY THREE~

DERA. I woke up early enough to get away from the house before Dami woke up. I admit that since my birthday party I’ve been edgy and Dami hasn’t failed to notice since I’ve been drifting away from him again. I probably looked crazy standing by the shore in nothing but a pajama similar to my SpongeBob pajamas but was plain and pink. My initial plan was to have Tami drive me around since I had nowhere in particular to go, I just wanted to be alone and the beach is the best place to clear one’s head. Since the incident Dami hasn’t left me alone for a minute, he had become super protective of me and even missed work for just to stay in bed with me. We

“My Chidera. Look at you, all grown up.” Her Aunt says almost like she couldn’t believe it. Dera turns to me completely speechless. She must be in shock that she can’t even comprehend that her family is actually here.“Dami…” She starts to say and I take in her glassy eyes like she was going to cry. “Dami…” I let her walk into my arms.“You don’t have to say anything Love. I’m just glad I made you Happy. I’m glad got to see that Beautiful smile. So don’t cry or you’ll ruin your Make-up.”“Dami we should start going. The guests are waiting.” Mama tells me and I nod. She rubs Dera’s back. I wish you a long and prosperous life filled with Joy, Happiness and all things good. God bless you my daughter.”

DEDERA I woke up to the blaring of my ringtone, groaning I roll over Dami to grab my phone from the nightstand. I wince at the brightness of the screen squinting my eyes, I see that it’s Trisha calling making me perk up. I start to wonder if Damola was alright.“Hello?” I say urgently into the speaker.“Happy Birthday Mummy!” Damola’s tiny but loud voice reaches my ears making me wince letting out a chuckle. My heart swells that the little boy remembered my birthday. Dami groans from beside me and I turn to him.“Is that my boy?” Dami asked

DERA.Dami ended up taking me to the movies to see a horror film After our very long bath. I'm not a fan of horror Movies and I do get scared easily so I don't know why I even agreed to think. Maybe because I'm helpless when it comes to His mesmerising brown eyes. "The curse of La llorona." He reads. "Sounds fun, right? Or maybe we should see The Nun." He says like my opinion mattered. I only shrug digging my hands into my bag fishing out my phone when it starts ringing. I see it's Seyifunmi FaceTiming me so I put on my ear buds answering the call and moving to a more secreted area."Hey Bitch that forgot me because she's busy being a whore for her husband." She says and I chuckle."Hey yourself." I take in her appearance and it looked like she was hugging the bed sheets to her chest."Ashawo. You're in a man's house. Abi?" I tease and she doesn't hide her smile."You're calling me Ashawo when you're the one half naked on

DERA. I never imagined that I'd be waking up in Damilayo's arms one day and I most certainly didn't expect to enjoy it so much that I didn't want to wake up but I had to because he had work to get to. Ini still hadn't resumed work and while Damilayo was away I went

DERA. Damilayo seemed off for the rest of the week and the next. I should have been happy since he was giving me the space I asked for. He was going back to ignoring me. That's what I wanted but if I'm being honest with myself then I don't think that's what I want anymore. The thought
