4. August Dereon

Walking back inside, she realizes that everyone has gathered in the hall. "Oh, looks like it's showtime." she thinks and goes over to grab a glass of champagne from a waiter.

"Ladies and gentlemen. My family and I wish to welcome you all to Dereon Hall." An older very well dressed gent says to the crowd. "Now, I've heard some rumors going around that this ball was thrown in order to find my son, August, a bride like some sort of Cinderella story." he continues and chuckles. "On the contrary, tonight is my son's engagement party!" he says, beaming. 

At this, the crowd bursts out in chatter and whispers.

"He's engaged?!"

"Oh no, there goes my chance!"

"Are you kidding me?!"

Elizabeth looks over the crowd as they all look horrified at their missed opportunity. Her eyes land on Evelyn who looks like a child whose candy just got taken.

"There goes that idea, Ev." she thinks and giggles. Elizabeth looks at the disappointed faces in the crowd and can't help but laugh. 

"Sorry, Mother. Someone beat me to it." She thinks, gleefully.

"Now, I know that majority of you don't know what my son looks like. He's been working overseas, most prominently Paris as the CEO of Dereon Industries. We practically had to beg him to come home to attend his own party!" he laughs. "Now, without further ado, please welcome my son, August, and his beautiful bride-to-be, Emily Gray!" Mr. Dereon says proudly and gestures to the left-hand side of the hall, clapping lightly.

Standing at the back of the crowd and on the left side herself, Elizabeth couldn't see August Dereon's face, just his back. As he walks in with his fiancee, she feels a bit of familiarity... 

Then as he reaches his hand out to Emily, his suit sleeve slides up and she spies a $1.5 million Audemars-Piguet watch.
