Chapter 174 She Was Totally Clueless As To What She Had Done Wrong

Author: Breeze Blowing Fallen Leaves
"Go home?" Sophia's face turned sullen the moment she saw her mother. "Where is my home? With the Whites?"

She sneered, then said every single word with pauses in between, "That's your home, not mine."

Jenny was momentarily stumped. She said with pink eyes, "Do you still blame me, Soph? You caused the car accident, after all. Your dad was afraid that others will say that our family is shielding a murderer. That’s why he chose to sacrifice blood ties for the sake of righteousness! He was left with no choice!"

Sophia pursed her lips and stared coldly at her without a word. Her painfully twitching heart was the only thing she could feel.

He was left with no choice?

How laughable!

"You can’t continue working in a place like Dream Club." Her indifference made Jenny uncomfortable. "Soph, come home. I will ask your dad to arrange something for you in the company. Don’t go to Dream Club anymore."

She reached out in an attempt to pull Sophia.

Sophia's hand moved aside to evade it, avoiding her touch. She said coldly, "Are you done talking?"

Hah, so this was her biological mother. She kept saying that she was doing everything for her own good, but she had never once believed her!

"Soph, you..." Jenny's eyes turned red as tears started falling down.

Sophia used to hate seeing her mother cry. She would have heartaches when she did. Seeing her crying again now, she thought that her mother looked nothing but pitiful and ridiculous.

"Here, wipe your tears, Madam White." Victor took out a piece of tissue and handed it to Jenny.

Jenny took the tissue and wiped her tears. "Thank you, doctor."

"You're welcome." Victor sighed silently. Apart from looking similar to each other, there was nothing remotely similar between both mother and daughter in terms of their temperament.

Jenny then coaxed Sophia again, asking Sophia to go home with her. However, her attempts were futile.

She habitually asked those around her for help. "Doctor, can you persuade my daughter for me? I have finally managed to persuade her dad to let her go home, but this child just refuses to listen to me..." She choked on her sob. "I don’t know what to do anymore."

Sophia frowned and was just about to ask her mother to leave when Victor spoke before she could say anything. "Let me start with a question, then. Do you wish to see Ms. White living well, or do you wish to see everything go wrong for her, Madam White?"

Seeing that Victor did not help her mother to persuade her, Sophia pursed her lips and stood on one side in silence.

Jenny was stumped. "As a mother, I wish to see my daughter living well of course."

She wanted her husband, son, and daughter to live well, but none of them understood her and in turn, blamed her. She was totally clueless as to what she had done wrong.

Sophia scorned at her words. There was only a dark and forbidding look in the depths of her eyes.

"If you want Ms. White to live well, then I suggest that you stop forcing Sophia to go home," Victor said sincerely.

Jenny’s eyes widened in surprise at his words. "Why do you say that, Dr. Hemingway? Soph has been sent to the emergency room several times after she was released from prison because no one was around to take care of her. If she returned to the White’s residence..."

"If she goes back to the White’s residence, with an impressionable and clueless mother like you and a cold-blooded and merciless father like Mr. White, not only will life be difficult for her, but she will also do far worse than how she’s doing right now." Victor flashed a gentle smile, but his words were blunt and merciless.

After hearing what he said, Sophia finally raised her head and echoed indifferently. "You've summarized it very well, Dr. Hemingway."

His words embarrassed Jenny so much that her face was flushed crimson. Her mouth fell open, but she could not say anything for a very long time. She glanced at Victor, then her gaze fell on Sophia. Disbelief, disappointment, and pain were written all over her face.

"Madam White, if you’re doing it for my sake, then don't come here anymore. I will be eternally grateful." Sophia pointed to the door nonchalantly, not even remotely moved by her tears. "The door is over there. I won’t see you out. Goodbye."

Jenny wiped the tears from her face and looked at Sophia for quite some time, sobbing. This time, she did not insist anymore. "You should… You should… get a good rest, then. You must… take care of yourself."

She tugged a smile that looked beyond hideous, then covered her mouth and trotted out.

Victor looked at her back and asked Sophia, "No need to comfort her?"

"... No need." Sophia lowered her head and stared at the dense silver needles on her leg. She paused before answering his question.

Victor then walked over to close the door. He drew the needles out for her. "You are still young now. Aren’t you afraid that you will regret cutting off ties with your family?”

"Like what you said, Dr. Hemingway, an impressionable and clueless mom and a cold-blooded and merciless dad. I will only be in more misery if I acknowledge them," Sophia said expressionlessly.

Victor drew out the needles seriously. “You may not have any regrets for not acknowledging your dad, but your mom..."

He set the needles down and looked up at her. "She doesn’t seem apathetic about you at all. She’s genuinely concerned about you."

Sophia lowered her eyes, clutching the sheets tightly. For a moment, she did not respond.

Victor took in her small movements and laughed, then continued to draw the needles out. "I’m sorry, I’ve crossed the line."

"She has placed my heart on the ground and trampled on it too. She would rather trust everyone else than to trust me." Sophia flashed a self-deprecating smile. Her voice was slightly hoarse.

Victor let out a soft sigh after hearing what she said.

At this time, his phone vibrated. He picked it up and took a look, saying, "I'm sorry, a patient is in urgent need of my treatment. I will send someone to draw out the needles for you.”

"Thank you, Dr. Hemingway." Sophia rubbed the area between her brows. Weariness was written all over her forehead.

Not long after that, a female intern doctor rushed over. She drew out the needles for her, then left in a hurry.

The enclosed space in the ward and the powerful smell of disinfectant irritated Sophia. She got out of bed and walked out, standing by the corridor window to get some fresh air.

Her right leg had just received acupuncture treatment and was so weak that there was no strength in it. She could only hold onto a wall in order to maintain a standing posture.

"Sophia? What a coincidence." After a series of sounds of a wheelchair rolling on the ground, Leah's voice rang out from the left rear direction of Sophia's ears.

Sophia turned her head back and saw that Leah was currently sitting in a wheelchair looking at her with a smile, whereas William was standing behind the wheelchair, staring at her.

When she recalled how Leah had set her up, she clenched her fists, hoping so badly to kill her.

At the sight of her reaction, William stepped out from the back of the wheelchair and stood in front of Leah with a sullen look on his face. He questioned Sophia, "What are you trying to do?"

Sophia found the righteous look on his face repulsive to look at. She snorted coldly and looked away. She continued to look downstairs, not remotely interested to entertain the two.

She had always been a very realistic person. After learning that Charles did not like Leah, nor would he back the Jones siblings up, she did not even bother to keep up with the act of being polite anymore.

"Sophia, is this how you should treat a victim?" Her indifference and ignorance infuriated William. She was at fault, but she was not remotely repentant and sorry for her actions even after two years!

"I do know her, but we’re not very close," Yvette said.Sophia wanted to ask her what kind of person Madam Johnson was but did not know how to start. In fact, it would be even more appropriate for her to ask her mother this question. However, her mother’s current situation had made it difficult for her to ask her too much.Yvette could roughly guess what she was trying to ask her about and took the initiative to say, "Objectively speaking, Madam Johnson is a marriage intruder. Her reputation isn’t very good either as she’s a little vain and small-minded. She, however, is your mom’s college roommate, so she’s very nice to your mother.""Thanks for telling me that, Aunt Harris," Sophia said."You don’t have to be so reserved with me, my child." Yvette took her hand and pointed in Madam Johnson’s direction. "She's over there. Let’s go and meet her."It would be inappropriate for Charles to go over as there were only women over there, hence he did not go with them.Madam Johnson, lik

As soon as William said those words, however, there was instantly an awkward and slightly stalemated air hanging around the conversation.Audrey's expression changed unpredictably. Her gaze that drifted toward Sophia was immensely dark and gloomy.Taking all of this in, Charles shifted a few steps whilst keeping his countenance, standing diagonally in front of Sophia, blocking her off from William and Audrey’s line of vision.Stunned for a moment, Mr. Robertson smiled and said, "Who wasn’t frivolous when they were young? It's normal to have several crushes, ex-boyfriends, ex-girlfriends, and whatnot. I even wrote a love letter to the prettiest girl in my class secretly when I was in high school…"He was clearly helping William out of the embarrassing situation.Sophia was slightly surprised when she saw this. She was surprised to learn that William actually shared such a close relationshi

Upon hearing Marie’s name, Fredrickson followed his gaze and looked over. When he saw Marie standing next to a man wearing a sweet smile on her face, pressing her chest firmly against his, his expression turned dark at once."See you later!" Fredrickson said in a haste and walked aggressively toward Marie with champagne in his hand. There were many beautiful women there, but Marie was the most attractive woman amongst them. Regardless of men or women, almost everyone was attracted to her the moment they laid eyes on her.Sophia asked, "Mr. Fredrickson and Ms. Marie...""A lover and sponsor relationship." Charles took a sip of his champagne. "Some people may think that they have everything in control, but the truth is, they have lost their hearts to someone else a long time ago."On the other side of the room, Fredrickson walked over, said something to the man, then dragged Marie out showing no due respect for the other party’s feelings.Marie struggled for a while and that seemed

Leah bit her lip and looked at him, the last gleam of light in her eyes vanished, and was now enshrouded by a layer of shimmering water. She had always thought that she was different from Sophia. She knew how to adapt to her circumstances and knew when to advance and when to retreat. Sophia was different. She was nothing but a profligate second-generation daughter who knew nothing and considered for no one.Today, however, she finally learned that she was actually no different from Sophia. When she became a burden, everyone would simply abandon her without hesitation.Master Lewis ignored her. He raised his voice and asked everybody, "Have all of you learned a lesson from this?"No one said anything. He then repeated the question a few more times, stopping only after they answered him."Grandpa, you claim that I have turned out this way because of a man and even warned everyone about it. What about you? Aren’t you also putting your reputation on the line for a woman..."Before Le

Leah dropped her head with a bleak look on her face, not saying a word.Madam Jones could not stand it anymore and started complaining. "Who knows what sort of spell Sophia has put on this child. At first, he broke off the marriage contract with the Sommer family for that vixen and even ran away from home!""Who knows what Sophia has said to him this time that he insisted on fighting Leah for the family property. He also said that he won’t recognize Leah as his sister anymore! Dad, say, do you think he will present the entire Jones Group as a gift for Sophia soon?"Tiffany curled her lips at her words and said while stroking her belly, "William is nothing but a fool. Not only was he tricked by a cripple, but he was also bewitched by a little b*tch that he had lost all sense of direction. Just look at what kind of son you have raised!""Shut your mouth. Was I even asking you?!" No matter how displeased Madam Jones was with her son, she would never allow anyone to badmouth him, espec
