Chapter 166 Don’t Listen To His Nonsense

Author: Breeze Blowing Fallen Leaves
"I may not share the same views as Mr. White, but I must admit that he cares for Ms. White very much." Victor said, "It was beyond my expectation to see a rich second-generation kid like him who cares so much for his image kneel in front of Mr. Harris in public to help you beg for mercy."

A positive state of mind was conducive to a patient’s recovery no matter what illness it was.

He had very limited interactions with Ms. White, but he could vaguely sense her lack of hope for life. If she could just feel the kindness of those around her and boost her psyche a little, it could be beneficial for her treatment.

Nicole, "..."

She could not tell whether Dr. Hemingway was criticizing or complimenting her husband.

"T-that didn’t happen. Don't listen to his nonsense!" Sterling's face flushed instantly. He said awkwardly, "Soph, don’t listen to his nonsense, okay!"

Before Sophia could answer, a series of footsteps were heard at the door. Immediately after that, Dr. Conor and several nurses from before pushed a patient in and entered her line of vision.

"Why are you still here?" Seeing that Sophia was still here, Doctor Conor pulled a long face and urged impatiently, “If you’re fine now, then please leave immediately."

He turned to Victor and said swiftly, "Please lend me a hand, Dr. Hemingway. Hurry up and get her out. I have a patient here!"

What was all this?!

"Okay," Victor replied but did not shift the transfer bed. Instead, he walked up to Sterling, picked him up, and started outside as he turned around to say to Nicole, "I’ll leave the rest to you, Mrs. White."

Worried that she would delay the patient’s treatment time, Nicole did not even respond to him and began pushing the transfer bed immediately.

Sophia leaped out of the transfer bed barefooted and pushed the transfer bed out of the emergency room with Nicole as quickly as they could.

"Quick, quick, quick!" Doctor Conor ordered the other nurses like a hurricane. A group of people entered the emergency room and shut the emergency room door with a bang.

Thinking that it looked unsightly for Victor to hold her brother like that, Sophia said, "You can put my brother on the transfer bed and push him back to the ward, Dr. Hemingway."

Before Victor could answer, Sterling yelled, “Hurry up and put me down!"

"Oh," Victor answered mildly, then threw Sterling onto the transfer bed without hurting his injuries.

The fall hurt Sterling’s back so much that even his tears had flowed out. That and the fact that Victor had carried him princess style twice without his permission caused his accumulated anger to erupt at once. "F*ck, are you sick?!"

"You must be confused, Mr. White. You’re the one who’s sick." Victor pointed at the plaster cast on his arms and legs with a smile. The dimples on his cheeks were very deep.

Sterling, "..."

‘F*ck. I hate people who scold others without using a single word of profanity the most. He’s just as annoying as that b*stard Charles!’

"You’re a patient, Mr. White. It stands to reason that I shouldn't argue too much with you, but you aren’t allowed to make so much noise in the hospital. This isn’t the first time now.

"Also, I would like to correct your way of viewing one thing, Mr. White. Buying a gift to apologize when you’ve made a mistake isn’t going to make up for it. This is a plain insult to doctors.” The arc on the corners of Victor’s mouth vanished. He looked particularly serious when he said these things.

Sterling had an aversion to those who brought in concepts of socialist pedagogy for no reason at all. It was extremely annoying. “You…”

"Dr. Hemingway is right, Sterling." Sophia cut him off.

Sterling wilted at once. "... Fine. You’re my little fairy, everything you say is right."

Having said that, he suddenly recalled something.

Sterling turned to Victor. Though he still wore a look of dislike, he sounded much polite now. "What I say and do has nothing to do with my sister. You can hate me, but please treat my sister’s leg properly. If she’s healed..."

Before he could say things like "I can give you whatever you want," Nicole cut him off. "We’ll leave Soph’s leg treatment in your hands, Dr. Hemingway."

"I'm a doctor. It's my duty to treat my patients. You don't have to be so polite about it." Victor smiled and said, "It won’t be appropriate for us to block the emergency room entrance. Let’s go back to the ward.”

Nicole nodded in agreement.

“The floor is cold. You should come up to the transfer bed too, Ms. White." Victor glanced at Sophia's white and small feet before saying gently.

He meant no harm. Even so, Sophia still retracted her right leg when he looked over, then lowered her head and said, “There’s no need for that. I can walk since we’re not far from the ward."

"You’re exactly like what my aunt said you are, too strong-minded." Victor smiled and took one step forward, bent over, and picked Sophia up easily. "I’m sorry if I offend you in any way."

As he said that, he held Sophia and walked toward the transfer bed. He was just about to set her down on the bed when the emergency room door on the opposite clicked open.

Charles walked out, still wearing the same pair of suit, still holding the same torn patient blouse in his hand. There was nothing different about him apart from his slightly pale complexion.

His gaze moved back and forth between Victor and Sophia. He frowned almost imperceptibly, then trudged over in an extremely slow and unnatural way.

"Mr. Harris," Victor greeted him with a calm countenance before putting Sophia on the bed.

Charles hummed a response and darted him a glance before turning his attention to Sophia. His eyes were dull and obscure.

When their eyes met, Sophia's eyelashes trembled uncontrollably while her limbs turned weak. Her body became stiff with every step that he took toward her. Sweat was seeping from her forehead.

She did not know why there was sweat on his forehead, but the sweat on her body was a result of her fear.

Under normal circumstances, anesthetics and tranquilizers would be injected in operations. She would still be unconscious after receiving emergency treatment. Even if she was awake, she would not be in the state that she was currently in either.

In other words...

He probably knew that she was pretending to be sick this time.

"You’re okay?" Charles walked very slowly to the transfer bed, looked at Sophia, and asked.

Sophia was still wearing his suit jacket. Sweat had soaked her back a long time ago. Even though she knew that he had misunderstood her over the years, that he was the one at fault, she was still afraid of him. However, there was also hatred and unwillingness amidst her fear.

"Are you disappointed to see that I’m okay?" The scale of fear and hatred was tilting back and forth. The scale tilted toward hatred in the end.

The unabashed hatred in her eyes pierced Charles. His Adam's apple rolled slightly as he said, "If you’re okay, go back to the ward and rest."

He paused, stared intently at her, and said, "Don't do this next time."

"I know what I can and cannot do. You don’t need to teach me what to do." Sophia's hands and feet were weak, but she still raised her head and stared sternly at him. "You said you believe me, didn’t you?

"If you believe me, then the incident two years ago was just a misunderstanding. I’ve never done anything that would let you down. You’re the one who has let me down instead!!!"

She was extremely emotional. Her voice sounded slightly sharp from the excessive elevation in her pitch.

Next to her, Sterling's eyes were fixed on Charles like a nail. Every cell in his body was taut as he was put in a state of hypervigilance.

"I do know her, but we’re not very close," Yvette said.Sophia wanted to ask her what kind of person Madam Johnson was but did not know how to start. In fact, it would be even more appropriate for her to ask her mother this question. However, her mother’s current situation had made it difficult for her to ask her too much.Yvette could roughly guess what she was trying to ask her about and took the initiative to say, "Objectively speaking, Madam Johnson is a marriage intruder. Her reputation isn’t very good either as she’s a little vain and small-minded. She, however, is your mom’s college roommate, so she’s very nice to your mother.""Thanks for telling me that, Aunt Harris," Sophia said."You don’t have to be so reserved with me, my child." Yvette took her hand and pointed in Madam Johnson’s direction. "She's over there. Let’s go and meet her."It would be inappropriate for Charles to go over as there were only women over there, hence he did not go with them.Madam Johnson, lik

Things might not get so awkward if they had just pretended that they did not know each other. As soon as William said those words, however, there was instantly an awkward and slightly stalemated air hanging around the conversation.Audrey's expression changed unpredictably. Her gaze that drifted toward Sophia was immensely dark and gloomy.Taking all of this in, Charles shifted a few steps whilst keeping his countenance, standing diagonally in front of Sophia, blocking her off from William and Audrey’s line of vision.Stunned for a moment, Mr. Robertson smiled and said, "Who wasn’t frivolous when they were young? It's normal to have several crushes, ex-boyfriends, ex-girlfriends, and whatnot. I even wrote a love letter to the prettiest girl in my class secretly when I was in high school…"He was clearly helping William out of the embarrassing situation.Sophia was slightly surprised when she saw this. She was surprised to learn that William actually shared such a close relationshi

Upon hearing Marie’s name, Fredrickson followed his gaze and looked over. When he saw Marie standing next to a man wearing a sweet smile on her face, pressing her chest firmly against his, his expression turned dark at once."See you later!" Fredrickson said in a haste and walked aggressively toward Marie with champagne in his hand. There were many beautiful women there, but Marie was the most attractive woman amongst them. Regardless of men or women, almost everyone was attracted to her the moment they laid eyes on her.Sophia asked, "Mr. Fredrickson and Ms. Marie...""A lover and sponsor relationship." Charles took a sip of his champagne. "Some people may think that they have everything in control, but the truth is, they have lost their hearts to someone else a long time ago."On the other side of the room, Fredrickson walked over, said something to the man, then dragged Marie out showing no due respect for the other party’s feelings.Marie struggled for a while and that seemed

“Serves him right. He’s always getting fresh with the ladies! He must have offended someone he shouldn’t have offended this time that’s why someone has decided to fix him!"Jeffrey Hoffman was the handsome-looking but perverted male employee. When they saw Sophia, they stopped talking and greeted her."I'm just an ordinary employee. You don't need to be so polite to me." Sophia smiled at them and entered the elevator.Leah must be the person who fixed Jeffrey. He had just taken advantage of her this afternoon and she was already retaliating like a whirlwind.Charles was right. Leah was already experiencing a mental breakdown. In the afternoon, Sophia went to meet a major client with Maisie. The next day, according to Maisie’s arrangement, she learned some basics on the teller system from a teller whose last name was Logan. When it was time for her to get off work, Charles came to pick her up for the party.Sophia was taken aback when she saw him. Leah bit her lip and looked at him, the last gleam of light in her eyes vanished, and was now enshrouded by a layer of shimmering water. She had always thought that she was different from Sophia. She knew how to adapt to her circumstances and knew when to advance and when to retreat. Sophia was different. She was nothing but a profligate second-generation daughter who knew nothing and considered for no one.Today, however, she finally learned that she was actually no different from Sophia. When she became a burden, everyone would simply abandon her without hesitation.Master Lewis ignored her. He raised his voice and asked everybody, "Have all of you learned a lesson from this?"No one said anything. He then repeated the question a few more times, stopping only after they answered him."Grandpa, you claim that I have turned out this way because of a man and even warned everyone about it. What about you? Aren’t you also putting your reputation on the line for a woman..."Before Le

Leah dropped her head with a bleak look on her face, not saying a word.Madam Jones could not stand it anymore and started complaining. "Who knows what sort of spell Sophia has put on this child. At first, he broke off the marriage contract with the Sommer family for that vixen and even ran away from home!""Who knows what Sophia has said to him this time that he insisted on fighting Leah for the family property. He also said that he won’t recognize Leah as his sister anymore! Dad, say, do you think he will present the entire Jones Group as a gift for Sophia soon?"Tiffany curled her lips at her words and said while stroking her belly, "William is nothing but a fool. Not only was he tricked by a cripple, but he was also bewitched by a little b*tch that he had lost all sense of direction. Just look at what kind of son you have raised!""Shut your mouth.
