An Enemy Within

Clifford was on his way to visit his mum. He tried to reach his mum on the phone but couldn't get through. He called the main house line and one of the workers picked.

"hello...? Sir Clifford ". The voice answered.

Clifford : Is mum at home?

" Yes sir". The voice replied.

Clifford : I'm trying to get through to her line but am not reaching her. Is she okay?

"Yes she is, sir. I think it's because she is not in the mood to talk with you."

Clifford : Okay, just inform her that I'm coming to meet her.

"Okay sir." The voice replied

And they hanged up.  It was an hour drive from the hospital to the Hollands' mansion.  Soon, Clifford got to the house.  He was welcomed with smiles from the workers.

Clifford : Hello Aunt. Anastasia..

He hugged and kissed the cheeks of his nanny.

Aunt. Anastasia (worriedly) : Why are you here at this hour. You should be with Rosita.

Clifford : Yes, aunt. I came to meet mum. Where can I find her?

Aunt. Anastasia : Okay dear, she is in the living room. But please don't fight again.

Clifford : Okay, aunt. We won't, I understand how mum feels.

Aunt. Anastasia : Okay dear, you can go ahead and meet her.

Aunt. Anastasia have been the nanny of the boys since childhood. She has worked for the family for over 30years now. She loves and care for the family so much and hate seeing them in pain. 

Clifford : Sure, Aunt. Love you.

They both went their ways.  Clifford went to the living room to meet his mum.  He met her moody and sad.  Mad. Flora turned away on seeing his son.  Clifford smiled and walked towards his mum.  He sat next to her on the sofa and hugged her.

Clifford : Mum.., am sorry for what I did yesterday. I understand how you feel. I know you want to see your sons happy and successful.  But Rosie is my happiness mum.

Mad. Flora turned to face his son.

Mad. Flora : I know son, but I want to see you with your kids. I want to grow old with all my grandchildren around.

Clifford : I know mum.

Clifford and his mum kept talking for a while convincing her and trying to cheer her up . Meanwhile, Nicole was also in one of the rooms in the Hollands' mansion.   She felt uncomfortable for a while and decided to come downstairs to take some fresh air.   As she got to the living room, she heard Clifford and his mum talking so she decided to eavesdrop.  She sneaked behind the door and listened to their conversion.

Clifford : Anyway mum, I came here to give you good news. 

Mad. Flora : Really? Let's hear it.

Clifford (smiling) : Mum, am going to be a father. Rosie is pregnant.

Mad. Flora : What! Is that true?

Mad. Flora was so excited and hugged his son. 

Mad. Flora : So where is she now?

Clifford : At the hospital.

Mad. Flora : What happened to her?

Clifford relayed last night's incident to her. Mad. Flora was shocked and felt very bad.

Mad. Flora : Let's go to the hospital to see her. I want to apologise for my actions yesterday.

Clifford : No mum, it's late now and you need to rest. Let's do this, go have some rest. I will come and pick you up tomorrow to see her. 

Is it a deal?

Mad. Flora : Okay son.

Clifford took his mom to her room to have some rest. Nicole was shocked and awakened by what she just heard. The news didn't go down well for her.  She stood there silently for a while and smirked evilly.

Nicole : Let this game begin. (smirkes)
