After finishing my work and assignments, I looked up the clock to see the time. It was 6 pm. I had only an hour to get ready. Shit! I rushed into the bathroom and took a nice shower. It came out of the bathroom in a flimsy towel and let out a scream when I found Jake on the bed looking at his phone, my towel almost slipping from my body.“Jesus! I thought you were going to be late. You scared me, Jake.” I huffed and tied my towel tighter around my body and walked over to the dressing table.

Jake’s POV:I woke up early the next day and started working on the presentation for the new hotel that I was going to build. We have been working on it for months now and it was my dream project. Dad has been proud of my work so far but I had to work even harder. I was busy in the study room that I didn’t notice her entering. She pushed my laptop and sat on my lap and I cradled her.“Why are you up so early?” she said in a sleepy voice. I noticed

“Hey, didn’t you go home?” I asked James once I was in front of him.“No, Ms.Albright. I’m really sorry about everything. At least one good thing happened at the end of all this.” He sighed and we both sat down.“Tell me what happened after I left town.” I placed the food on the seat beside me and turned towards him.

I spent two days in boredom. As much as I loved coming home. I had nothing to do here. I spoke with Emma and told her about what happened. She had been following the news too and tried to comfort me. I didn’t speak with Jake much. Whenever I called, it went straight to voicemail and I always got a text saying he was busy. What was he busy with? It’s not like there was any improvement with the case. He is not going to the office too. I was losing my mind and missed him so badly. It was my birthday tomorrow. Did he even know about it? I didn’t mention it to him. If he was sneaky enough to find out my mom’s phone number, he should have known about my birthday. I don’t think he was going to come down here and I thought of heading back to New York tomorrow.

“What?” I asked him in shock. My head started spinning and I was feeling light-headed. I sat down on the couch and blood drained from both of our faces. I couldn’t believe it. Why would Alex kill Chad when he asked us to release him? They were in this together. Nothing made sense but I was sure of one thing. Alex was capable of killing and wouldn’t hesitate to do so. I was shaking and found it difficult to breathe normally.

The graduation ceremony had started by the time we reached and everyone was settled already. I found a seat for myself, kissing him one last time. I could see Dan and Austin, already in their graduation robes, and greeted Jake, when he arrived. It was beautifully decorated and packed. Some boring people were giving their speech and that’s when I noticed his father was the guest of honor. Woah! He was going to get his degree from his own dad. How cool was that! I smiled and realized it was only a matter of time until I receive my very own degree in this hall.

"Is this necessary?" I whined as Ashley kept pulling my hair, trying to style it. She kept nagging me to go clubbing with her and I was not interested at all. I was worried about my baby. Even though Liam and Anna were babysitting him and Jane, I wasn't convinced.
